The guardian Angel of Gabrielle, Lief's duties as a guardian Angel includes not letting the demons from Hell take his mortal.  Luckily that mortal is Gabrielle, and Xena wouldn't let her stay in hell.  Looks like Lief's guardian Angel days are over.....for now.
