"Well Xena, here we are, Altektia, the city of relaxation." Gabrielle said smiling as she walked passed a large wooden sign introducing the city. "You know Gabrielle, why are we here anyway? I mean it's not like us to take a holiday." Xena replied with an impatient expression on her face. "We deserve it, Ares has stopped his rampage on mortals, Kallopiea is safe being trained by Beowulf…" Gabrielle spotted a large tavern and walked inside, "Joxer is recharging, Eve is spreading the way of love, the Amazons are starting to rebuild their nation." "Alright, alright. We'll have a break, but only a short one." Gabrielle looked pleased with herself and walked up to the barkeep. "Excuse me, a man named Joxer came here yesterday and booked us in a room in your tavern." "Yes him, you have the large room. At the top of the stairs turn right, then it's the second door on your left." The barman told her Gabrielle and Xena walked passed the drunken people in the tavern towards a set of neatly built stairs. They reached the top and followed the man's instructions to get to their room. Slowly Gabrielle opened the door to reveal a luxurious room beautifully decorated and with a banquet of food already laid out for them. "Gabrielle are you sure we can afford this?" Xena said uncomfortably "Xena we have never had a proper holiday, we can afford it." "What about the time we went on holiday with Joxer and Amarice?" "And we have to fight off a mob, yeah that was a proper holiday." "We went to India on a search for inner peace." "And ended up fighting a demon with the help of a monkey. Xena this time there will be no work, no defending, no fighting, no pain, just relaxation." Gabrielle smiled again. Suddenly the door flew open and the bartender from down stairs ran in. "Please Xena, Gabrielle you have to help there is a man outside, please hurry." Gabrielle sighed and followed Xena down stairs. They both ran over to a window and looked outside, the barkeeper was right a man was having an argument in the street with two of the locale villagers. The man turned around a spotted Xena and Gabrielle staring at them, Xena studied his face, he had long, thick, black, straight hair, she knew she had never seen him before then she fell to the ground in agony. Everything went black, then Xena felt an intense heat. Her vision came back and she saw a demon, with in a second the demon hit her hard in the face. Gabrielle was knelt down next to her friend and watched as blood dripped from her nose. "Xena, come on wake up." Gabrielle screamed at her, realising she was having another vision. Quickly Gabrielle stood up and looked out the window the man stood there and stared at her. Suddenly he took something from his belt and throw it at her, Gabrielle watched as a chakram came spinning towards her. Instinctively she ducked and continued watching it as it came through the window of the tavern. A man got in its way and the lethal weapon sliced through his neck with ease. It hit the stonewall at the back of the tavern and changed direction, heading back to the man who threw it. On the way it killed three more people. Gabrielle stood up and saw the man catch it again, just as soon as he did he threw it straight inside the tavern for a second go. Gabrielle hit the ground in another desperate attempt to save herself. Xena was starting to wake up. "Xena, come on we have to leave." Gabrielle shouted at her confused friend Xena got to her feet and ran with Gabrielle through the exit out the back of the tavern, hearing screams of the chakram's victims on the way. After a short run they found a cave on the outskirts of the city and went inside. "So much for our holiday." Gabrielle said sarcastically. She looked at Xena who still had blood covering her face from the vision, Gabrielle quickly went serious. "Xena we have to sort this out." She said "How? The Amazons knew nothing, what can we…." Xena fell to the ground again and began to have another vision. Gabrielle bent down next to her shaking her rapidly to try and wake her up. "Xena come on, we have no time for this now." Gabrielle begged, "Xena wake up!" Gabrielle screamed as a cut began to form on Xena's upper arm, "Xena wake up!" She shouted again. Xena opened her eyes and looked at Gabrielle, then she looked outside. Gabrielle listened and heard the footsteps of the man attacking them. "Let's go further back into the cave." Xena whispered. Gabrielle helped Xena off the ground and got her far back into the cave. When they were at a safe distance she helped Xena to sit down. "Xena, who is the man with the chakram, there are only supposed to be two. The chakram of light and the chakram of darkness, but they combined to create yours." "There aren't only two chakrams, Gabrielle." "Then how many are there?" "Three." "What? I…." Gabrielle was interrupted by a moan as Xena tried to move. "Xena, are you OK?" "I'm fine." "Xena, you have never told me something, how did you get your chakram?" Gabrielle asked suspiciously. Xena looked at Gabrielle with a troubled expression on her face. "It's OK. You don't have to tell me." "Yes I do Gabrielle, the chakram is the key, the key to me, my life, everything. I couldn't tell you before, I had the chance but it just wasn't the right time." "When?" "When we were in Chin." "You got the chakram in Chin?" "You know the story of Lao Ma, and how me and Borias hated each other then Lao Ma brought us back together." "Then you left Chin and headed towards the Amazons, where you killed Cyane right?" "Wrong. Borias and I made up but we didn't leave Chin, not just then anyhow. We stayed. After Lao Ma injured us because we tried to kill her son, Ming T'ien we started to head out of her land and into surrounding villages. In was there we heard they story of the legendary chakram." "I don't get why we are still here Borias, I want to leave this place." "Be patient Xena, we will leave just as soon as we find out more about this weapon." "Well I'm not waiting around here for your man to arrive I'm…" "There he is." Borias said and pointed to a middle aged, enthusiastic man running towards them. "Pardon my lateness I came here as soon as I could." "Your lateness will be excused if you give us the information you promised." Borias said "I will, the travellers you spoke to were telling the truth. There are three legendary weapons each of then looks like a round metal hoop." The man told them "What's so great about a round metal hoop?" Xena shouted "The metal it was made from is different from any other. It's so strong it could destroy anything, nothing can beat it. It is called the Chakram Lao Ma has all three, well she did. She only has one now." "Why?" "No one knows, she gave one away to a priest somewhere, to protect it.." "So where's the other one?" "That I do not know. All I know is the one Lao Ma has is called the chakram of Darkness. The one the priests have is the chakram of Light and the other one is said to be called the Chakram of Destiny." "But you don't know where it is?" Xena said sternly "No." Xena quickly raised her sword and severed the man's head in one clean cut. "So you got the chakram of darkness from Lao Ma? How?" Gabrielle asked, "I don't think she'd give you that power willingly." "She didn't." Xena replied, then tried to move again but was still unable to and let out a small moan. "I'll go and find something to help your wounds." Gabrielle said and walked off. Xena closed her eyes and tried to ignore the pain, which still filled her body, but then she felt something else, something new. Something was dripping down her face, thinking it was blood she quickly put her hand out to try and catch it, when the liquid touch her hand it was clear…like water. Suddenly her surroundings changed, she was knelt in front of a pool of water with Gabrielle to her left and Kallopiea to her right. Stood over her was a tall, muscular man, it was Michael. "Xena, you are now an angel again. You realise what you have to do?" Michael asked Xena helplessly replied, "I understand Michael, and I will not fail." "Good, because you know the consequences if you do." "I said I won't fail and I wont." Xena opened her eyes, Gabrielle was stood over her. "Welcome back." Gabrielle said smiling "I…we….Kallopiea." "Xena slow down, what did you see?" "Michael, he was turning me into an archangel again, you and Kallopiea were there as well." "I knew Michael had something to do with this. What else happened?" "That was all, but I now know why I'm getting these visions Gabrielle. Something bad is happening, I don't know what. But these vision are being sent to me to as a warning." "You'd think they'd warn you some other way." Gabrielle replied while putting some cobwebs over Xena wounds. Xena went quite for a moment then continued with her earlier story. "Borias and I decided to travel back to Lao Ma's kingdom and take the chakram. A local warlord called Zentuth joined us. He must have heard about our plan and offered his help, we decided that who ever got that chakram first was going to keep it." "That attack will never work, Lao Ma has a power that is too strong for us to beat. The only way we will get the chakram is if we are not seen by anyone." Borias told the Zentuth. "This place is heavily guarded we will never make it in undetected." "We have no other choice." Xena explained, "We will have to cause a distraction and go to find the chakram when the guards are away." "Who causes the distraction?" Zentuth asked "I will." Borias replied, "You and Xena will go after the chakram, I'll find a way to distract the guards." "We slept through the following day and woke later that evening. Borias was good to his word and used arrows and spears to attract the guards attention while Zentuth and I sneaked easily through the main door. When we were inside we separated and looked around the building until I found the chakram." "Well it's hardly legendary." Xena said to herself while turning the chakram over in her hands. Suddenly Zentuth came running in with his sword in his hand. "Give me the chakram Xena." "I don't think so. A deals a deal whoever finds the chakram keeps it." "Exactly, the chakram is mine." "I found it." "No, my father found it and told you about it, then you murdered him. The chakram belongs to me." "Your father was the messenger of Borias's?" "All his life he wanted a chakram and needed your help to get it. Now I'm going to use it to avenge his death." "You want it. You've got it." Xena said then threw the chakram at Zenthus. It hit him straight in the chest, killing him. "Maybe it's not so bad after all." "So you got the chakram and combined it with the chakram of light when we came back from the dead. I still don't understand who that man is and where he got the other chakram." "I can answer that." Said a voice from inside the cave. A man walked over to Xena and Gabrielle with a chakram in his hands. "My name is Zenthus, named after my father who died before I got the chance to know him. And I have waited for this moment for a long time. I found the other part of the chakram and now I plan to finish what my father never could." Zenthus shouted and threw the chakram at Xena. Xena quickly dodged just in time, but couldn't stand because of her wounds. "It seems age has got the best of you Xena." Zenthus said smiling, "You're not the warrior you once were." Gabrielle bent down to Xena and grabbed Xena's chakram from her belt. Zenthus threw the chakram again, this time at Gabrielle. Gabrielle threw her chakram towards Zenthus's at an angle. It went straight through his chakram sending the two separate pieces flying into the air towards him. Both pieces hit him and he fell down to the ground dead. Gabrielle sighed and sat next to Xena. "Well, that was close." She said smiling and took another deep breath. She looked at Xena and saw a serious expression on her face. "What's wrong?" "I was in Lao Ma's palace, with the chakram in my hand. As I left the room it was kept in Lao Ma stood in my way and said something to me…something I have never understood." "What was it?" "With one and you have a small part, with two and you have a soul, but only with three do you have a destiny." "Was she talking about that chakrams?" Gabrielle asked "I understand, now I get it. The visions, my life, our life, everything." "What?" "Gabrielle pass me Zenthus's chakram." Gabrielle walked over to the young mans dead body and pulled out two pieces of the chakram, she joined them together and gave them to Xena. Xena took her own chakram from Gabrielle. "The visions weren't a warning, they were guiding me Gabrielle, they were guiding us." Xena slowly put the two chakrams together, a huge blue energy bolt came out of them hitting Xena and Gabrielle they both fell backwards. Xena knew it was another vision, but this one was of the past. She saw herself nailed to a cross in front of her was her friend M'lila. Xena listened patiently to her words, "You have a destiny, Xena. But you have to choose it." Xena turned around and saw Lao Ma in front of her saying, "With one and you have a small part." Xena saw the first time she touched the chakram, "with two and you have a soul." Then she saw herself put the two chakrams together with Gabrielle stood near her, "but only with three do you have a destiny." Suddenly she was in a house in front of her was Kallopiea saying, "My name it Kallopiea." Xena's head started to hurt because of the vision but she ignored the pain and spun around she was on a ship with Julius Caesar, he looked at her and said, "Each event in our life is part of a great plan. There are no accidents. Only destiny." The scene changed and Caesar fell to the floor, with Kallopiea over him holding a bloody Roman dagger in her hand, in his heart was a fatal wound. Xena opened her eyes and saw Gabrielle trying to sit up, Xena went over to her and helped her up. "Are you OK?" She asked "Xena, I had a vision. It was of your past." "Gabrielle so did I. It was showing us the reason why I have had all these visions, the reason why we have been through what we have been through, why we met Kallopiea, everything. Everything happens for a reason Gabrielle and this is the reason whatever is coming, it's our destiny, that's why Lao Ma let me take the chakram back in Chin she knew one day it would show me the way to achieve…." Xena paused for a moment. "What?" Gabrielle asked impatiently "Redemption." "You mean whatever this thing is if you do it right you'll be redeemed for you past crimes?" Gabrielle asked. Xena simply replied, "We have to find Kallopiea." Destiny's Chakram by Kitana Copy write Kitana 2002© |
