Might is Right

Gabrielle and Xena were walking through one of the many peaceful forests of Greece. "Xena I don't care what you say I want my quill back!" Gabrielle said to the fearsome warrior. "Look Gabrielle I promise we will pick one up in the next market we come to." "That's what you said last time and then you realised that we ran out of Dinars because you had to buy a new whip!" Gabrielle complained. "A whip is necessity, a quill is a luxury." "And how is a whip a necessity?" All of a sudden Xena stopped and started looking around the forest. "Ares?" Gabrielle asked. "Well, well, well." Ares said appearing in front of them, "The battling Bard is starting to learn the lessons of the warrior princess, and look she is even wearing warrior armour." "What do you want Ares?" Xena asked. "I want to return this." Ares pulled out a quill from his back pocket. "My quill." Gabrielle said taking it from his hands. "Where did you get it?" "The same place that I got this." Ares clicked his fingers and in his hands appeared a scroll neatly rolled up. He handed it to Gabrielle. "Recognise it?" Gabrielle carefully opened it up and read the title out load. "A Friend in Need" She stated. Quickly she started scanning down the scroll and within minutes was at the end. "This isn't right, Xena didn't die, you saved her by telling her that you killed the people back in Japa years ago." "The Gem of The Fates." Xena said. "What?" Gabrielle asked. Xena walked over to Ares, "That's what was in your hand, The Gem of The Fates." "Correct." Ares boosted. "I changed the past with the Gem so that you weren't a ghost anymore. Then I used a bit of divine intervention to retrieve the scroll Gabrielle wrote in the other timeline as proof." "What about the quill." "I stole that from you before you left Japa, just to get your minds going." "Then I have one question for you Ares." Xena paused and looked very suspicious. "Why would you do that for me?" "I would have thought that would've been obvious." "Oh come on if you just wanted me back then why would you tell me about it." "This is just like you I do one nice thing and you think there is something behind it." Xena and Gabrielle looked at him waiting for an explanation. "Alright, alright. I thought if I did a favour for you, you might do something in return, after all this is the third time I've saved your life now." "Ares I will never be your Warrior Queen." "Don't jump to conclusions Xena, I don't want you to be my warrior queen. But I do want you to see want you would be missing." "What are you talking about?" "Along time ago you were put on trial for killing three men I killed. Do you remember?" "I manipulated you into bring them back to life, yes I remember." Ares walked round behind Xena and put his hand on her stomach. He put his lip close to her ear and whispered. "Ever wonder what it would have been like if you joined me then instead of helping those farmers." Gabrielle walked over to Xena looked very uncomfortable. "Ares no you can't do this." Gabrielle pulled out her Sais and hit Ares on the back on his head with the blunt end. "Gabrielle it's OK, I wouldn't accept his pathetic deal anyway. The only way I can witness that life would be if you used the Gem again. Not a chance." "I promise I would put everything back after one day." "One day?" Xena asked. "That's all." "And I could trust you? Get out of my way Ares." Xena said pushing him and walking off. "Rather touchy aren't we Xena." "Thanks for bringing me back Ares but I never asked you to." "Actually you did." Xena stopped again and turned to face the God of War. "Come on Xena, one day that's all, you owe me." "Xena you can't" Gabrielle told her. "Gabrielle shut up." Ares moaned at her. Xena walked over to Gabrielle and pulled her away from Ares. Ares smiled knowing that she was trying to persuade Gabrielle to let her go. "Gabrielle my whole life I have wondered whether or not I have really changed, deep down. Now I can find out. By going with Ares I can see if that dark side in me can still win or not. I wont go unless you don't mind but please think about it. Ares will put it all back I will make sure of that so no one will get hurt and no one will even remember what happened except me." "Xena I…" "Tell you what," Ares said hearing their conversation, "I'll sweeten the deal. Both you and Gabrielle get to keep your full memory of this life so there aren't any mix ups." Xena looked at Gabrielle not encouraging her decision in anyway. "OK." Gabrielle said, "But for one day and one day only." Ares smiled, "Oh this is going to be good." Xena, Ares and Gabrielle moved closer together, Ares put his hand into his pocket and pulled out the Gem. He grabbed Xena and Gabrielle and said, "Ready." Xena and Gabrielle gave a quick nod then closed their eyes and they all disappeared. Xena opened her eyes and looked around. She was in a huge room and was sat at a long thin table. At one end of the table was Ares, who she was sat next to but there were 19 other people with them. Each of them was wearing identical heavy leather armour except for Xena and Ares. Ares was wearing his normal leather clothes while Xena was wearing armour similar to her own except that she didn't have the usual metal pattern on it. Instead it was plain back but the leather was much thicker giving her the same protection. From her shoulders down she had a long black cape, which was also plain but looked like it was only used for formal occasions. "Xena, Xena." Ares said, Xena was still a bit dazed but she started to concentrate the best she could. "Yes." She said answering Ares's call. "So what do you say to the idea of attacking at night and avod the last catastrophe?" "Um…defiantly. We will attack at night." Xena said trying to sound like she new what Ares was talking about. "Good." Said a familiar voice, Xena turned round. She never realised it before but she was sat next to Julius Caesar! "Which armies shall we use I suggest 1,3 and 9. I don't think we will need more then that since there are only have 1,500 Amazon Warriors." "Amazon?" Xena said realising that she must be in a battle again the Amazons. "Yes of course Amazon." "Sorry," Xena said, "I'm not myself today, of course we are fighting the Amazon nation." "The armies Xena, which ones?" Caesar said impatiently. Ares quickly stood up and walked over to Caesar, "What do you think your doing?" He said challenging Caesar. "No one speaks to the Warrior Queen like that." "Yes well, like she said she's not herself today." Caesar smirked. Xena kicked her chair back and pushed Caesar to the ground. "You want to know which armies?" She said, "Armies 1!" She kicked him in the ribs, "3!" She kicked in ribs again, "And 6!" Then she kicked him in the head, knocking him out. And walked out of the room. Ares followed her and ran to catch up to her pace. "Enjoying it so far." He asked, "Do you enjoy hurting the one who crucified you and Gabrielle?" "Ares why are we attacking the Amazon Nation?" "Because they are a threat. Now what do you say to a bit of relaxation and I'll fill you in on the details of this life." Before Xena could respond Ares clicked his fingers. Xena looked down she was surrounded by water, quickly she raised her head and realised that both her and Ares were in a bath. The room was darkly lit and candles surrounded the bath. "Ares are you out of your mind?" She asked. Ares moved closer to Xena, "What's wrong with a bit of comfort." Xena gave Ares her famous stern look. "You said we were going to talk about this life." "Straight to business as always ay Xena. After our meeting at the trial you became my warrior queen but refused to become a Goddess. We built up and small army of 1,000 and started a great war. Obviously we were successful and are army grew. When it got big enough we attacked Rome, when they were at the brink of defeat I asked Caesar to join. Obviously you protested but I persuaded you and Caesar joined, bringing with him many Roman warriors. We also took half the world and discovered a few lands unknown before, even to me. Now we are taking the Amazon nation, as they are the only threat we haven't yet slaughtered." "Which Nation?" "Well as we are only 3 years from the trail, the leader of the Greek Amazon's is Ephiny." "When to we attacking?" "That's the best part, tonight!" Xena got out of the bath and got dressed, "Ares I will not attack the Amazon Nation, not even if it goes back to normal tomorrow." "I thought you wanted to see that dark side of yours, the only way you can do that is in a battle." "Well this has just proven that that dark side of mine will never win, I won't even give it that chance." Ares got out of the bath and click his fingers, putting him back in his usual clothes again. "You know Xena, that's just called giving up. Besides you owe me remember." Ares picked up Xena's hand and kissed it. Xena slowly pulled it away. "Fine I will fight in your war but I want the Gem now." Ares gave her the Gem and said, "You know Xena it's not my war, it's ours." Xena started walking off. "Hey where are you going?" "To get ready for tonight." Ares smiled, "Great." He said, "I have something for you." Ares started to lead Xena into the room next to the bathroom. Xena looked around, it was another huge room. In the centre was a large bed and right next to that was a stand filled with swords and other lethal weapons. "There all yours," He said pointing at the weapons rack, "But I suggest you use this one." Ares picked up a medium sized sword. It had a black handle with a demon at the top, where the blade joined the handle there where two spikes each side following the direction of the blade. The blade itself had jagged edges and had a black pattern on either side. "It's called the Darkness Sword." Xena took it from him and did some special moves with it to try it out. "I like it." Xena smiled and walked off with her new sword. Ares stood in the bedroom stunned by Xena accepting the sword then it hit him. Xena is slowly being taken over by the Xena of this life, the Xena who joined Ares. She really was becoming his warrior queen. Later that night Xena and Ares were at the head of the army preparing to battle the Amazons. They had 3,000 soldiers each of them wearing full battle gear. They were stood at the top of a hill waiting for Xena and Ares's command. "Well Xena, this is it, are you ready?" Ares asked his Warrior Queen "Looking forward to it." She replied. "Attack!!!" Xena shouted at the top of her voice. Xena, Ares and the entire army ran down the hill toward the Amazon forest, all of a sudden the entire Amazon Nation started jumping out from the trees. Xena and Ares's army fought vigorously, Ares was fighting hard too but was mainly watching Xena who was slaughtering the Amazons. "I wish I had thought of this before." He said to himself smiling. Xena was still viciously fighting the Amazons then Ephiny came up to her and they began to fight, every strike that Xena did Ephiny managed to block. "The Amazon Nation will never be controlled by you." Xena ignored her and kept fighting, Xena managed hit Ephiny's sword hard and it fell out of her hands and landed on the ground. Xena spun around giving her more power and slashed Ephiny's stomach. Ephiny fell to the ground dying. Ares ran over to Xena, "Well done!" He said, Xena grabbed him and kissed him. "I love this war." She said. Ares looked around and realised that they had defeated the Amazons, "Round up the injured, we will sell them as slaves." Xena ordered the army. "The sun is nearly up Xena, it's almost time for you to leave." "I like this life, it's much more satisfying then helping people who wont defend themselves." "Xena you know you don't have to leave this life, stay here with me and together we can rule the world. You and i know both know might is right." Xena smiled acceptingly and kissed Ares again. All of a sudden they heard someone shout, "Charge." It came from the trees. Xena and Ares looked up and many more Amazons jumped down. "It's a surprise attack." Ares said. Xena ordered the army to keep fighting, but these Amazons weren't as easy to beat. While Xena was fighting one of them someone jumped down from a tree on to her. Xena fell to the ground and quickly turned round, above her the attacking Amazon had her sword to Xena's throat. "Xena?" She asked, it was Gabrielle. "Gabrielle." Xena replied. Gabrielle helped her up, "Xena what are you doing?" "I don't know I just have this voice inside me screaming for me to kill." "Well beat it!" Gabrielle screamed. "I can't!" Ares came running over to them. "What have you done to her?" Gabrielle demanded an answer. "Xena is being taken over by the Xena of the life, the Xena who has been conquering the world for years, my Xena!" "Send us back." Gabrielle ordered. "Xena isn't going anywhere, she likes this world." Gabrielle turned to Xena, "Is this true?" She asked. Xena didn't reply. "See what I mean." Ares said. "Ares send us back right now." Gabrielle saw Xena had the stone attached to a belt around her waist. She quickly grabbed it off of her and threw it at Ares. "Send us back now." Ares took the stone and laughed at her refusing to send Xena back. Gabrielle took out her Amazon sword and started to fight Ares. Ares defended himself but Gabrielle still had all the experience from her previous life so could fight well. Gabrielle spun her sword round and used it like a Sai and she managed to hit him on the head with the handle. "Ow!" Ares shouted. Gabrielle didn't stop and kicked him in the stomach, he fell to the ground and Gabrielle pinned him down. "Send us back!" She demanded. "Xena get her off of me." Xena looked at Gabrielle but didn't move. "No Ares send us back." Xena said. "I knew it was a bad idea letting you come along." Ares said. Gabrielle punched him in the face. "Send us back." "Alright!" He shouted not wanting Gabrielle to hit him again. Xena knelt next to Ares and touched his shoulder, "We're ready." She said. Xena and Gabrielle looked around they were back in the forest where they were before they left. Ares was still with them and still had the Gem. Xena reached out and took it of off him, "I'll take that." Xena said. "Well you can't blame me for trying." Ares replied, "I have something for you." Ares clicked his fingers and the darkness sword appeared in Xena's hand. Xena put the Gem on the ground and hit it with the sword, breaking it straight away. "What, no you can't do that!" Ares said. "Sorry Ares, but you are not doing that again." Xena said. "Fine, I guess I will just go back to Olympus, nice and lonely, with just my sister to keep me company." "Bye Ares." Gabrielle said, and Ares disappeared. Xena and Gabrielle looked at each other it was still midday, the same as when they left but they were exhausted. They went over to a nearby tree and sat with their backs against it. "Xena…" "Gabrielle," Xena interrupted. "No Xena wait. What happened today, it wasn't you. It was a different Xena, one that Ares has controlled and manipulated over three years. Your dark side is part of you, but that wasn't your dark side because it wasn't you." "But it was me, just a different me." "Anyone can be anything if they go a certain way." "I killed Ephiny." "No! Brutus killed Ephiny along time ago." Xena put her arm around Gabrielle, "I nearly killed you." "That's right, but you didn't. Xena even in your darkest moment you still can't kill everyone."
