Babalon comes to us from the Babylonians via Christianity. Her appearance in the Book of the Law, under the Christian title The Scarlet Woman, & due to the efforts of John Parsons, ensured her inclusion in the Thelemic Pantheon, and the devotion of Thelemites everywhere. Crowley changed the spelling after some interesting experiences in the Enochian Aethyrs, and discusses her at some length in the Book of Thoth (under the Lust card).
