Slowly Xena and Gabrielle approached a campsite that Xena had previously prepared. There were dozens of flowers and rose petals scattered about. There was also a ton of food neatly arranged and about fifty candles placed throughout the entire campsite. As Argo brought them closer Gabrielle gasped at the beauty of the scene. Xena acted like she had never been there before. "Hey, would you look at that. I wonder why someone would go to all that trouble and abandon it? She said curiously. A voice behind her spoke.

"I've never seen anything so romantic."

Xena mentally patted herself on the back at Gabrielle's comment. She then jumped off Argo and grabbed Gabrielle by the waist to help her down, but the minute her hands made contact  there was definate surprise in Gabrielle's eyes. Xena looked up at her with a shy smile before saying.. "Can I help you down malady". The answer was a nod.

Gabrielle thought that she was imagining the look that Xena gave her so she acted like everything was normal. "Xena, why did we stop? I imagine that whoever did this will be back."

"I just thought it couldn't hurt to check it out. Hey look over there". Xena points to a scroll attached to one of the candles. "I wonder what it says." She grabs the scroll and clears her throught before reading it. "To whomever it may concern, I prepared this site for my true love. We were supposed to meet here but her father sent word for us to meet him at once. He said that it was urgent good news. Since he lives far away we will not be able to use this spot. Consider it a gift. Signed; Darsus of Troy. "Hmm, would you believe our luck. At least it was good news awaiting them. Well instead of letting it go to waste why don't we stay here tonight?"

"Xena, do you think it could be a trap?"

"No I don't feel anything and you know I always do when somethings wrong."

Gabrielle was suspicious but didn't know what to think so she agreed to stay. After all it was so beautiful and she figured that would make it easier for her to talk to Xena.
After they settled in they feasted on the wonderful foods. When finished Xena started the fire and lit all of the candles. She then sat next to Gabrielle. Now was the time. Gods help her but here goes. "Gabrielle, uhh...I think we should have that talk now, there is something I need to say to you."

"O.k. I need to tell you something as well."

"Do you mind if I go first?"

"No, go ahead."

Xena thought carefully and then began. "What I have to tell you is very difficult for me so I need you to just let me talk. It's important you don't interupt because I may not be able to finish. First I would like to appologize for my behavior today. I was behaving foolishly because I was jealous that you found love. I wasn't being a true friend, it was selfish of me. You see, i've never been in love before. I loved Marcus and Hercules, but I wasn't in love with them. They were there for me at a time when my life was incomplete and I thought that they could fill the void in my heart. I figured that since I cared for them then I must be in love, but I realized that I was wrong. That's why I didn't stay with them. Do you understand what I mean?"

Gabrielle couldn't believe how much Xena was telling her. She never talked about her feelings and it usually took a lot of prying to get her to talk about her past. She wasn't sure exactly what Xena was getting at but not wanting to stop her she said that she understood. She could see the emotion fill Xena's eyes as she continued. This made her very worried about Xena but she wasn't about to interupt.
