Chapter Five: Phenomena
3. 4. They lunged. Swipe. Swipe. Jack dodged the first but the second caught him on his arm. The blood spurted out of the lacerations.
"NEED BRAIIN!!!"
As the blow toppled Jack backward, he raised the Shotgun. BOOM! The blast ripped through the nearest creature, and wounded a second. Closer they came. Jack rolled accross the floor into the neighboring hallway. He jumped up, spun, and let both barrels fly. BOO-BOOM!!! Two more fell. Another beast stepped forward. BOOM! He fell. Yet the nerve-racking zombie cries continued to surround him. He turned and ran.
Clap-Clap-Clap.
Out of the hole in the wall. Down the driveway. "Fresh Meat!" Rustle, Rustle. Zombies coming out of the trees. Into the tunnel. CLAP-clap, CLAP-clap, CLAP-clap. He turned the corner.
"Well, a fugitive."
A cop. "No, No, I'm human. Please help me!" The cop said nothing. He reached into his holster, pulled out his Glock, and fired. The shot pierced Jack in the leg. "Aaahhh!" As he fell sideways, he pulled the shotguns trigger, the blast tearing at the cops shoulder. He stumbled. Jack raised it again. The cop howled, and fell. Jack stumbled over to the corpse. Crunch, Crunch, Crunch. The cop had been zombified.
"FRESH MEAT!!!"
Jack spun. The zombies were coming for him.
He ran, dragging his injured leg. They stumbled after him. As he came to the fork, he limped toward the tunnel. They were coming closer. Then he saw it ----- another chilling scene.
A crashed truck overturned in the tunnel.
As he neared, he saw the bones of the driver picked clean. The zombies were nearly upon him now. He put one hand on the broken back window, and the other on the rusty cab. He braced his leg and pulled. His lame leg was dragging, and he couldn't hoist it over the cab. The nearest zombie didn't waist a second. He leaned over and bit the legs calf. "AArrgh!!" Jack smashed his shotgun over the creatures head. SMASH!SMASH!SM---
It was gone.
A bolt of lighting had come down, and the creatures vanished.
Silence.
Jack grabbed his wounded limb, and yanked over. He reached the top. He dragged himself onto the tire, then onto the drive shaft, and finally onto the ground.
HUH-huh. HUH-huh. HUH-huh. He rested...
********************************************************************************************* ..when he caught his breath, he crawled out of the tunnel. As he came out, he saw the pond over the cliff. The ground was muddy from a recent rainfall, and the ground all chopped up from tires. One set led to the edge. He went to look over.
Squish, Squish, Squish.
He looked over.
A car end was sticking out......
to be continued....
