DESPERATION
I am alone, here in the darkness, in the shadows
of the world.
All around me there is nothing but the emptiness of my hopes and dreams.
From a distance, I hear the faint cries of joy and laughter.
Happiness is but a foreign feeling to me now.
As the night grows darker, I feel more of the hollowness which sinks into my
heart,
Stabbing me as if I were to die.
I sit still as the wind blows, and the field of flowers and grass sway back and
forth, back and forth.
I feel the hot tears streaming down my cheeks as I reach out for a hand, but get
nothing in return.
Raising my head in desperation I hoped to find an answer, or an end to it all.
Staring at the vast ocean of blackness above me,
I see tiny twinkling lights that go on and off, on and off.
Then I see a big bright ball that lights up the sky and everything in its sight.
Slowly I raise out my arms to this light, this hope, that I have longed for, for
so long.
Gradually I come out of the shadows, no longer feeling the sadness that had once
plagued me.
The light is my dream, my rescue and my joy.
Although so far away,
I know one day I will reach this light,
And no longer will I be in this desperation.
