What is love, if not Merrick?
There are those who say that
this beautiful witch simply
cast a spell on me.
That she manipulated her way
into my life for her own aims,
so that I could fulfill what
David Talbot had not -- to give
her immortality -- to make her
one of us.
She has said this herself, perhaps
to absolve me of the guilt in what
I had done.
But no, I know this, as much as
I know my own soul, that I had wanted her,
that I needed her. And out of that need,
I brought her to me.
