Learning Disabilities

 

 

There are many types of learning disabilities, but the most common are:

 Dyslexia This is the most commonly known learning disability, people who have dyslexia have difficulty with language processing and reading, writing, and spelling usually these people will see words backwards or misspelled even though they are not.
Dysgraphia involves difficulty with writing. Problems might be seen in the actual motor patterns used in writing. Also characteristic are difficulties with spelling and the formulation of written composition
Dyscalculia This disability is the opposite of dyslexia. People with dyscalculia have difficulty with math skills and math computation. Memory of math facts, concepts of time, money, and musical concepts can also be impacted. 
Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADD/ADHD) may co-occur with learning disabilities. Features can include: marked over-activity, distractibility, and/or impulsivity which in turn can interfere with learning and following instructions.
