Storyline Plot:
The treacherous Count Olaf finally imprisoned, the Baudelaire orphans believe they might obtain some peace of mind, living once again within the austere, yet safe, walls of Prufrock Preparatory Academy. United with old friends, cared for by the benign Headmaster himself, and the evidence scrawled on page thirteen of the Baudelaire file swimming through three strong minds, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's hopes soar high.
That is, until Esme Squalor, Olaf's trendy girlfriend, was spotted inside Prufrock Prep itself, as well as a handful of Count Olaf's associates, spuriously disguised as teachers. But what is spurious to some, may not be spurious to others. Still, though the children were afraid the joyous events at hand were about to turn sour, Count Olaf was no where to be seen, and supposedly still locked up in a prison cell. Without a ringleader, vicious or not, the associates of the despicable count did not seem to want to make any moves. Hope prevailed in the orphans, somehow.
The Daily Punctilio scribed the count's escape from jail soon after their devious discovery. The fragile bubbles of optimism in each Baudelaire chest were punctured upon the story's impact, shattering their dreams of a calm, if not lightly shaken, dare they fancy it, fortunate future. Worried days passed, the orphans awaiting and dreading the return of Count Olaf to lead his loathsome crew into action, but there was no sign of the villain.
Hints, then. Leering, cruel allusions to the Baudelaire file, to the supposed surviving Baudelaire parent, and to Count Olaf's grand scheme to murder said parent. The Baudelaire orphans soon knew what they had to do: to get out of Prufrock Prep, to go after Count Olaf, and put a stop to his dastardly scheme. But how were they to escape the academy with criminals to their left, and a stubborn, forbidding guardian to their right?
