PerChance

A dream - but for only to sleep - as the sun falls from sight,
Casting rays of life-giving light up to the clouds and sky
While the great green trees become blackened within shadows,
And the balance is maintained.

A fantasy - if only a dream come true - as the darkness takes me
To the places I could barely glimpse before with alert curiosity;
For the light fades to darkness and silhouette overcomes the greys
And the night falls at last.

Yet the wet softness of the clouds comforts my heart while soothing my soul,
Like a pillow to the gods - who slumber in their worshipers' lull -
As they dream of humanity with love and jealous hatred
For the freedom to believe or not.

This dream - having taken over the reality of possibility - fades
With the dying light of the greatest star that keeps the world safe
This fantasy is for all to dream of peace and balance as they sleep,
While living for freedom.

Perchance to imagine the dawning to follow this dusk-time scene,
So beautifully captured within the free mind of humanity
As we rush through life simply hoping to slow down
And enjoy the world around us.
