India's quest to unseat Australia at the top of these rankings came unstuck with a very poor tour of the West Indies where they lost the one-day series 4-1 and, in the process slipped back to third on the table. They weren't the only strugglers. England's whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka has seen them drop to eight, their lowest ever position in these rankings.
Three new nations appear in these rankings. Morocco and Lesotho contested the African World Cricket League Division 2 tournament against six other African teams. Morocco put in a credible performance but Lesotho was outclassed and sank straight to the bottom of the rankings behind Gambia. The tournament was ultimately won by Mozambique. The other newcomer was Guernsey who impressed in two games against Bermuda, despite losing both.
Elsewhere in the World Cricket League, which will ultimately see teams selected for the 2011 World Cup, Argentina and Fiji had progressed to the next stage. Teams eliminated from this stage of the competition will still get another chance to qualify for the World Cup in 2008.
