There was little change in the order at the top of the table this quarter although there were substantial changes in ratings. The reason for this is a change in the calculation of initial ratings. From now on, new teams will be given an initial rating of 100 points and after they've played at least five games, the initial rating is modified to reflect their results in those first few games. The effect of this has been to increase the ratings of the top eleven teams, decrease the ratings of the next eleven, and dramatically change the ratings of some of the remaining teams either up or down.
On top of that, there was a lot of cricket. Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe all hosted regional tournaments with Tanzania, Bermuda, UAE and Ireland the respective winners. Four new teams were introduced to the rankings as a result: Cyprus, Jersey, Slovenia and Myanmar. Pakistan and Sri Lanka continued England's woes. Australia held off India and the West Indies in a tournament in Malaysia. South Africa beat Zimbabwe, who beat Bangladesh, who beat Kenya.
