Comments: It all started with a box of
discarded files. That was it. Yet these discarded files could not be brought
to life unless someone, a searcher, a hopeful believer, a person willing to
take notice that there is a TRUTH out there, could bring them to life.
Because of those files there was a Fox Mulder. A man with dignity, heart; a
composure to the horrid life he lived as a child (his lost sister, his
parents divorce, his father's involvement in the Consortium), and uncovering
those files began a journey unlike any other we have ever experienced in our
life. Fox Mulder... a character brought to life by the charms of one David
Duchovny... a fairly unknown actor who took small roles in B-movies, Twin
Peaks, and Red Shoe Diaries… finally got the chance to mold something
unbelievable. With that, a fan base grew for this actor and the character he
created with such wit, humanity unlike anything to grace to the small or big
screen before. Duchovny has always, in his roles, brought a certain humanity
that I don't even think Gillian Anderson, his Emmy winning co-star could do,
and he did so with Fox Mulder. Taking words from the page, he animated them
with facial expressions that made us smile, that cute boyish grin that melted
out hearts, his damn good looks and voice he made Fox Mulder better than what
was originally expected from the Creator in the first place. That, my friend,
is an Actor-and one that should be highly regarded and respected.
Unfortunately, his Creator does not see Fox Mulder that way. Such a Creator
of his work should be focused to the word called "destroyer"
because that is what Chris Carter has become. As a writer myself, I learned
to respect my characters because other people will be reading, watching and
earn that respect that you got the reader/viewer into. If a character is
killed off, I send him/her off with the dignity he/she deserves. If I don't,
I know some people will be breathing down my neck and wishing to send me hate
mail. Chris "the Destroyer" Carter apparently doesn't care about
the character he created at all, not as much as the actor does. Sounds ironic
to anyone, to me it does. I've lost respect for Carter and Company lately
after the recent events of the article. Never would I treat my own characters
in such a weak and dishonest manner. It's plain wrong and in the end it will
bite you where it hurts and leave a bad taste in my mouth and many others who
are following my lead. They should be ashamed to call themselves creator of
Fox Mulder! I can see Duchovny, though worn out by playing him, is proud to
bring this character to life and I'm proud and very thankful for him doing
so. A special thanks for David Duchovny for all his hard work on the show
"The X-Files" and bringing a character that all can relate. Aren't
we all Fox Mulders at heart... searching the unknown... walking about into
haunted houses... believing or wanting to believe in the unknown? Fox Mulder
(NOT Dana Scully) *has* become my hero. A character with such passion that to
bring him down is bringing the rest of the world to their knees because they
are left stunned-cursed! You're losing it Chris-and as a writer-I see you
lost it completely! I hope 1013 and FOX, and apparently Gillian will come to
their senses soon because the only episodes worth watching are the premiere
and the episodes that Duchovny is starring in. Otherwise, I'm left
disenchanted by such animosity brought on by its Creator. At least Stephen
King hasn't sold out yet! And once again, thank you Mr. Duchovny, I still
honor you for bringing a great character to the hearts and minds of the
people and the ones who follow. Fox Mulder is littary as he is vivid in his
creator and heart, you did better than your best and deserve more than what
you are given. I hope that Mr. Oscar makes pit stop with you one day and you
walk on that stage and say "Thank God for Fox Mulder or I wouldn't be
here." Because you are a part of Fox Mulder and he is as much a part of
you as you are to many other people who watch the show. Good luck, my friend
on your future endeavors (I'm looking WAY forward to "Evolution"
more than to the season premiere, if you're wondering). I also wish Tea and
your daughter and family the best. After all this time, you deserve it! Kudos
to one man called David Duchovny who brought to life Fox Mulder! If not, this
post wouldn't be so long. And as for 1013 and FOX-SMARTEN UP AND PULL THE
PLUG! Thank you for your time, Melissa: The Other X-Phile
