Your Comments: | This is not DD bashing, but i would like everyone to know what i will not continue to watch the x files w/out mulder. he is too important of a character to lose and i feel that if the x files goes on for season 9, that there are going to be alot of ppl like me that will not watch anymore. but it would really be a shame to see xfiles go off on a low note. |

Your Comments: | This is a great idea by the way! The X Files, Mulder. There is NOT one without the other. As enjoyable as the other characters are, he IS the show; his humor, enthusiasm, passion, etc., etc., all define this television show. NO one could or will ever replace him. The thought of it borders on idiocy. It would not work, and is frankly not saying much for people who have those high paying jobs to not *know* this would NEVER work. No Mulder, no X Files. That really was all there was to say. Thanks to the makers of this site and the others like it! Here is hoping all this effort works! |

Your Comments: | Wow, I totally dig this effort! It's nice to know that fans like us, regardless of their 'alignment' shall we say, can all get together and share a common purpose. It's kinda like the Olympics *vbg*. Just my opinion, but looking at other posts, I have been slightly disappointed by people using this as an excuse to bash Scully's character or GA (in the nicest possible way of course). I know we're all upset about Fox and 1013 and I know everyone is allowed an opinion, but I thought we were against playing up one character at the expense of another. Mulder may be the heart of the X Files but Scully is the soul, and I'm sure Mulder wouldn't appreciate you dissin' his girl *vbg*. And besides, in the past DD has said some things about his co-star that I wish he hadn't but I still think he's a great guy. I think the one of the biggest fears I have for the new season will not only be the gradual writing out of Mulder, but the way they will write Scully's character. We've known her for 7 years just as we have Mulder, and we think we know them pretty damn well. I'm afraid TPTB may decide to write Scully a little differently this season, so she will no longer be the Scully we (and Mulder) know, but a *new and improved* (yeah, right) Scully for the new direction the show is taking. I bet they're gonna have her swooning at Doggett's feet by the end of the series, and I for one will not stand around and see that happen. Not everyday you see a male shipper is it *g*. You cannot just go ahead and forget the last 7 years ever happened. Mulder and Scully have become cultural icons, and people will always think of one and subconciously think of the other. They are essentially one person; I don't think many will disagree when I say that 'Scully' is Mulder's creation and vice versa. God, how painful will it be to hear Doggett addressing Agent Scully by the same name that Mulder addressed her as. O.U.C.H!! The moral of this little rant is that there is no X Files without Mulder, just as there is no X Files without Scully, and FOX, throught bad planning, greed and general all round stupidity, can't seem to see that. Maybe if most philes boycott the Mulderless episodes, as I am planning to do, they'll get the picture when their wages get docked through lack of ratings. Maybe somebody should ask all those celebrities who are Philes for their opinions on the matter *vbg*. God knows we could use the support. We are X Philes, and just remember, that they make take our money, but they will never take away our Mulder!!!!!!!!!!! |

Your Comments: | First, who was the rocket scientist, at the conception of the show, that signed Ms. Anderson to an 8-year contract, while signing Mr. Duchovny (the MAIN character!!!) to only a 7-year contract????? Could've saved us all a whole lot of grief right about now!!!! I love the X-Files, but contemplating life without Mulder???? Can't go there. The only reason I will watch S8 is to see glimpses of Mulder. Mulder/David Duchovny was the reason I started watching the show, and if he's gone,...so am I. Not taking anything away from the other actors/charaters on the show, but Mulder, played by David Duchovny, ABSOLUTELY MAKE the X-Files work. That's not an opinion, folks,...that's just a plain, hard, cold FACT!!!!! NO MULDER; NO X-FILES!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE MULDER/DD THE RESPECT HE/THEY DESERVE!!!!!!!! |

Your Comments: | I've watched the X-Files since the beginning, starting with the first episode. From the very beginning, it was about -both- of the characters, not one over the other. Without one, you had nothing. And over the years, as there have been episodes with centering on either Mulder or Scully, I always felt the stories suffered because it was missing one half of the whole. No matter how you cut it, both characters are the foundation of the show. The Powers that Be need to remember that. It wasn't the stories, because in all honesty, the only thing making the worst episode watchable was the chemistry between the two main characters. I'm not interested in watching the grand reboot those in charge have planned. They seem in a big hurry to forget Mulder, which is sad and pathetic. I just hope they remember not to throw the baby out with the bathwater in their apparent desperation to exorcise the X-Files of Mulder due their anger at the actor who plays. |

Your Comments: | I agree with most of what's been said here. Without Mulder there is no X-Files - he has been involved in it since he was born, and his family before that. Any new character will not have the vested interest in finding the truth that Mulder and Scully have. I hope they find a way to end the series and keep the M/S relationship intact (because Mulder IS the baby's father!!!). I couldn't stand it if they choose to get rid of Mulder and have Scully get involved with Doggett. I don't know if I would go see an X-files feature film without Mulder, altho acc. to a DD chat, he is not interested in reprising his role as Mulder in another movie. (I hope he changes his mind about that!) In my opinion, No Mulder, NO X-files. MULDER'S THE MAN - LONG LIVE MULDER! |

Your Comments: | I came of age with this show. More than the creepiness and the paranoia, I loved the show because of DD's portrayal of Mulder, the flawed, angsty, but determined hero, and his fascinating, complex relationship with a very strong Scully. If the Powers that Be take out his character and the Mulder-Scully dynamic, I may continue to watch. But if the Powers That Be forget what make the show so amazing, and simply get rid of him to make way for the "New", I will almost certainly forget to keep watching. Considering how big a part X-Files has been the last 7 years of my life, this is no light matter for me. Please, please don't destroy this show! |

Your Comments: | Simply put, the entire reason I watch "The X-Files" is for the interaction between Agents Mulder and Scully. Removing either of them from the show on a season-long basis will change the format so radically that it will, in essence, be an entirely different show; one that I will have no interest in watching. I also feel that Chris Carter and the Fox Executives didn't "play fair" with either the fans or David Duchovny. We were repeatedly told that "The X-Files" would run only seven seasons and then the concept would be continued in movies. As late as April of last year, we were being assurred "XF" was in its "final" season. It's an insult to our intelligence to assume we will keep watching an endless number of "final" seasons, with or without Agent Mulder. I also think, from an economic point of view, the Fox execs are shooting themselves in the foot. They have a chance to establish an "X-Files" movie franchise that could be just as enduring as the Star Trek or James Bond movies and are antagonizing both their star and their core audience by breaking their promise for another movie within a reasonable amount of time. |

Your Comments: | I don't feel at ease looking at the new promo shots these days but I will continue watching the show for the secondary cast that I have always enjoyed, in particular Mitch Pileggi aka Skinner. Yet - without Mulder it ain't the same X-Files I fell in love with years ago, and I know for certain he will be terribly missed. I have always wished for him to finally find his ultimate goal and relax a bit, smile a bit more - in other words: Folks at 1013, give him that deserved ending, a decent closure for Mulder, and for us... who have followed him througout the years and admired his wits and sharp mind. Keeping in mind that David himself wanted to bow out of the show, I truly hope to see lots of him in other shows and movies to come. |

Your Comments: | Quite frankly, i have never been so unescited about the beginning of a new x-files season. for me, this show is about Mulder and Scully, and i can't see it go on without one of them, but i have to be honest, that loosing Mulder/David is much more difficult for me. as a devoted fan for the last 5 years, i feel that it's time for the show to end, and i'm feeling sick by the thoughts of going to a ninth season, and without Mulder at all. great shows should know when to move on, and if The x-files creators are as great as we all use to think, they'll finish the show after this season, and will do it with giving Mulder all the respect he deserve, and they'll give Muder and Scully the end these two wonderful characters deserve. |

Your Comments: | Until I read the Entertainment Weekly article, I was ready to give the 8th season a chance, since Duchovny himself wanted less screen time, the writers had shown such disrespect for Mulder's character during the 7th season. I thought it'd be a chance for him to leave gracefully, and to develop the rich, supporting characters more. Here's what I thought would happen: I thought Skinner and Scully would grow and develop as characters as they searched together for Mulder since both cared deeply for him, and feel guilty about his abduction. I love Skinner almost as much as Mulder. With the help of Morgan and Wong, and Duchovny's scripts, Pileggi turned what could have been the typical, XFiles standard issue bureaucrat into a flesh and blood man. He is potentially as rich a character as Fox Mulder. Skinner is a believer who has his own paranormal past. He is Mulder without the the family connections, the support of someone as strong as he is, and the courage of his passions because too much happened to him for too long. Skinner is a gentle giant, a strong man who's so secure, he can be sensitive without a thought, and can afford to use just enough force to get his way, and no more. He'd rather talk than fight though. He's masculine, without the attitude that women, or feminine things are beneath contempt. He's so secure in his masculinity that he can admit to taking a bubble bath just laugh contemptuously if someone makes fun of him about it. (Thanks to Duchovny's WONDERFUL Hollywood A.D. script for that lovely moment!) I also expected a return to KICKASS!Scully, who was always such a delight. I remember her fondly from Humbug, War of the Corprophages, Beyond the Sea, the Anasazi trilogy, Clyde Bruckman, etc. I wanted her to return to her old sense of humor and old love of adventure and excitement that kept her with Mulder at first, even if she thought his theories were dead wrong. At her best, she was great as Mulder. I hoped that they would take this golden opportunity to flesh out her character the way it was meant to be. Imagine my surprise when I heard about Robert Patrick coming on the show to add a "masculine presence", a man's man, etc. Please. That's just a code phrase for an unattractive, insecure, unsexy man who flaunts his masculinity in a tiresome manner. Imagine my surprise when I found that he was a skeptic. Scully is just now turning into a believer, and not a total one at that. Can you just imagine the scintillating dialogue? Scully: Look! A vampire. Dodgett: Bullshit! Scully: You're right. (hangs head) Dodgett: There, there don't worry your pretty little head about it. Now take off your shoes, O Pregnant Woman, and bring me a beer and a cigar. The audience needs to see that I am a real man, unlike Mulder, who merely showed his manliness by putting his life on the line for what he believed every minute of his life. Scully: Thank GOD! Your manliness has saved me from thinking for myself! The End. I don't THINK so! After a great character like Mulder leaves, it's up to the remaining characters to be as strong as possible to carry the show. We don't need Scully dependent on someone who does NOT have the "built on 7years" appeal of either Mulder or Skinner. When I think of what could be, I get angry. What we've got is Terminator, and Chris Carter saying he was going to take a hands on approach! Millennium anyone? Remember how the second season Millennium was finally starting to display originality, and rich male AND female characters, and we fans finally got our friends to watch only to find out that Carter had ruined the show with his hands on approach? My God, as the TV Guide said, his idea of a great partnership moment was Frank Black saying to his new partner in every episode, "What the hell are you doing here?" Carter obviously does not understand why the XFiles succeeded, and Millennium and Harsh Realm failed. In the XFiles, he had 3 Dimensional characters who deeply cared about each other, and were following their most cherished dreams, beliefs, and passions. You could easily envision them as real people. They're not just cultural icons for the USA, but the WORLD. Sorry, Mr. Carter. Mulder wasn't an unfortunate speed bump on your way to making the Terminator Files. When you disrespect Mulder, you disrespect your audience! We've loved and identified with that guy for seven years, and we aren't going to stand for Dodgett being built up at Mulder's expense, because it's also at OUR expense too. I hope you'll have the nerve to show Fox that you still have respect for your own work even if you've none for your fans, and FOX and Rupert Murdoch have no respect for anyone. |

Your Comments: | Moving on is fine, new characters - fine, new intriguing storylines - fine! But treating someone like Mr Duchovny, who deserves respect, in such a disgraceful manner is impossible. Or at least, it should be! But no, THEY can do whatever they desire. Mr Duchovny's contributions and his being dedicated to, and sticking with the show for so long should have been acknowledged with a great deal of respect and not utter indifference. If he wishes to move on, we'll definitely miss his character and the interactions between him and his female counterpart Ms Anderson, but we'll support his decision all the way. BUT, that doesn't mean the producers can kick him out like that without us wanting to kick their self-righteous asses. Isabel |

Frank, Chris and others seem to get all the attention, when at times DD deserves to be in that writer/director Hall of Fame for the X-Files. I have been watching the Files for about two years, and have liked the way they do things. Different than other shows, and DD has almost everything to do with that. GA, has made awsome contribution. CC should let bygones be bygones, be adult and even though DD filed that lawsuit and won, doesn't mean the extinction of one of T.V's best characters! Your Comments: | Like a lot of people, I've been watching Files since the VERY BEGINNING, and the thought of Scully without Mulder, or Mulder without Scully (doesn't matter which way round)....it's like watching two of my best friends turning their backs on each other with little hope of reconcilliation. I think 1013 and FOX's attitude stinks, and just goes to show that they value the almighty dollar above everything else. I fully respect DD's wishes, he's done a great job regardless of people questioning his acting ability (I'd like to see *them* do better!) and I'm torn over whether or not to watch the Mulderless eps (it's a 'what I would've missed' situation, kinda like a car crash - you can't not look at it!) Despite that, there is no Files without M+S, and FOX might as well admit they're flogging a dead horse, coz that's all XF:TNG is to me. And as for Doggett and Scully's 'heat', it's time to get out the water buckets. I see nobody told CC the old saying about playing with fire!!! |

Your Comments: | I have been watching the show and reading the fanfic faithfully for years. I love the way that the characters interact with one another and they have evedn inspired me to journey into the wonderful world of writing fanfic. One of the things that made this show so wonderful for me was the quality of characterization. I used to watch for the plots, but, recently, I've found myself watching almost exclusively for the characters. (You wouldn't believe how excited I get when I see that CSM is going to be in an ep.) Because I am watching for the characters, I really cannot stand the thought of Mulder not being around. Mulder is, in my opinion, the best character that they have on this show. Getting rid of him is, in effect, getting rid of my only reason to watch the show. If I could have one wish, it would be that they allow the show to die in peace and give us closure. That's all I ask because NO MULDER, NO X-PHILES! |

Your Comments: | I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that, if David Duchovney doesn't want to do the X-Files any more, (which is quite understandable), then the series should just end after season 8 with Mulder still alive. This way, the fans will be happy, Duchovney and Anderson will be happy, Chris Carter will be happy because his series will end well, and the money making executives will be happy because this will be a golden opportunity to make a profit off of a series of movies, (which both Gillian and David said they'd be willing to do). The whole idea of a 9th season without Mulder is utterly preposterous; a stand-alone season with just Scully makes no sense, especially because she's on her own right now. To base a season entirely on her alone, is redundant and it totally deviates from the original intent of the show. So, I close by saying, fans unite, we must save Mulder!!! |

Your Comments: | It disturbs me to think that Fox would put so much stock into just the name of the show being able to carry on, without the main reason for people watching. The chemistry between Mulder and Scully...the tension, the sexuality, the desire to understand their continuing plight, is what lures us back each week. It's not the damn format. I'm sorry to say some of the stories just flat out sucked in the past two seasons. I'm so sick of all those religious themed (devils and snakes etc) shows I don't know what to do. But I firmly believe....no matter how many new characters they introduce, the show will never be the same without the charisma Mulder presents and his relationship with Scully. |

Your Comments: | Ever since THEY decided to do an eighth season, I've had a bad feeling about it. The best thing about the show was the Mulder & Scully relationship. Without it, it isn't the same. As much as I like Scully, I can't stand her without Mulder around to create a balance. He has always been the heart of the show. It disturbs me to no end, to know that the 1013 crew is cutting out its own heart (just like in the Milagro ep). I can only wish that they attempt to treat Mulder honorably. He deserves that bit of respect. There is no honor in showing him tested, abused, & tortured for most of the season. The thought of that alone repulses me. If that is how we'll see Mulder, I WON'T watch unless he comes back safe and sound. CC and company should learn that if they keep up this pissy attitude, the fans will leave. All this because David stood up for his rights. How much more are we supposed to take from them? I have followed Mulder's journey as if it were my own. I CANNOT sit idly by as they destroy a show that entertained me for 7+ years! IF YOU FEEL AS I DO, LETS RALLY TOGETHER AND 'FIGHT THE FIGHT'. ITS TIME THAT 1013 REALIZES THAT WE THE FANS COUNT. REMEMBER FIGHT THE FUTURE? WELL, THE FUTURE IS NOW!! STAND UP AND BE HEARD!!!! |

Your Comments: | I started watching the X-Files only 3 years ago; I normally don't watch sci-fi tv/movies, but as I was flipping through the channels one Sunday night, I stopped dead in my tracks when I landed on The X-Files, a scene with Mulder and Scully taking place. Shipper or not, most people would agree that there is something very powerful about the two of them together. If it had not been for the unbelievable chemistry between Mulder and Scully, I might not have ever discovered the wonder and intrigue of watching The X-Files. Please do not misunderstand me...I am not talking strictly of chemistry in a romantic sense; in fact, it took me a while to catch on to the shippy overtones that CC had written between the lines with his two central characters). I thoroughly believe that Mulder cannot enthrall us without Scully, and Scully cannot entrall us without Mulder. The X-Files cannot exist without both of them. There will be no substitutions for Mulder. There's is a relationship with rare dynamics that has a special place on The X-Files. I would rather see the series end and know that Mulder and Scully ended it together than to see it go on without Mulder, knowing all that they have gone through has been in vain. Plus I would really enjoy moving on up to the X-Files Movie Series! |

Your Comments: | Interesting. I will miss seeing DD on The X-Files and agree it will not be the same without him. I am currently trying to get all of the eps. on tape and will probably be watching (and taping) all the new eps, eagerly looking for DD in his few eps. I am upset to hear in his European interview that it looks like he won't even be a part of the movies which was the opposite of what I had read him to say. Anyway, I support your effort! If possible (since this is a website for fans of DD), I have been trying to get the tapes of DD on Jeporady and the crew tape of the Bree Sharp song and I thought maybe someone in this group might have them and let me have a copy. Someone was offering copies of these over the Internet and was going to make me a copy and has stop e-mailing me. Could someone in your group help? I collect some things that speak of DD and GA. Now that I have seen them advertised, I want them! Thanks for any help and keep up the good work :). |

Your Comments: | Even the thought of TXF without Mulder is insane. David Duchovny has made TXF what it is. You turn the lights off at 9 on Sunday nights and watch ol' Spooky's adventures. Even though I like Gillian Anderson, she can't carry TXF on by herself. Robert Patrick wont help either. TXF is Mulder. Without David Duchovny the show is destined to jump the shark, even in all of the faithful Phile's minds. |

Your Comments: | With just a few weeks until the season premier of the most exciting television show I have had the good fortune to witness, it is difficult for me to feel the excitement I normally would at this time. That's because The X-Files as I know it will certainly cease to exist for a short period of time and may have been damaged beyond repair. The foolish decision by Fox to run a full slate of episodes this season at the expense of Fox Mulder was ill-conceived. The heart and soul of this show is Mulder AND Scully together. That heart cannot be replaced (sorry Robert Patrick) nor should Fox or Chris Carter even attempted such a misguided plan. At the very least, 1013 should have focussed heavily on Mulder's absence and how that affects the people closest to him--notably Dana Scully. Instead, we're being treated (make that forced to endure) a new "partner" whose sole purpose on the show appears to be to make us forget about Fox Mulder. Unfortunately for Chris Carter and those at Fox, that is something that cannot be done--at least not as long as you wish to continue to call this show The X-Files. Until the return of Fox Mulder, that show will no longer exist. Call it "The Scully Show" or "The Doggett and Pony Show" if you will, but the show I have loved for 7 years has been put on hold. I can only hope that when Fox Mulder does return for good, the show will be worth watching again and the epic story of Mulder and Scully will be given the proper and majestic sendoff it truly deserves. I don't even want to watch anymore and to think that Chris Carter has enough brain cells to create a wonderful show like this and then ruin it by insulting David by not paying him his rightful amount, truly shows that he's lost a few million brain cells between Season one and now! |

Your Comments: | I have loved the X-Files. I have looked forward to the episodic airing of Mulder and Scully adventures. I have been an X-Files fan, truly enjoying the very good work put into the series. I saw The X Files movie muliple times--to "vote" for more X Files movies being made in future. (Of course, I pictured Mulder and Scully in those future films. I would not be very quick at all to hop into a theater seat to view an X-files film without Mulder.) This seems a good site to make some personal observations about what's abuzz at the moment: It's alright to lose David to his career and life moving on, but the manner in which the character of Mulder is phased out--or used minimally--needs to be well wrought, well presented. It's not so good an idea to make Scully into Mulder, and Doggett into Scully. To do that is to render both characters as cartoons--art imitating art, maybe? Deconstructionist backward-looking, certainly...which has already gotten Chris Carter into some dicey places, in terms of plotlines and character behavior. I can only hope that Chris and the other writers remember that Scully is--or was--Mulder's partner, and that the character of Mulder has provided the premise, ratinale, and passion for The X-Files, which has run an honorably long while as a television series. Erase Mulder, or superimpose him upon Scully, and you have erased any reasonable expectation for a quality show with The X-Files title. (Instead, I would look for B-List episodes trying to sweep away tracks of more solid A-List past episodes ...or I would look for another title for the series.) Mulder's character, again, has been the heart of the show's original premise. And the relationship between Mulder and Scully have been the heart of the show's humanity. And those things remain true regardless of the much commented on *new* chemistry, *new* model of masculinity, *new* direction of the series. (No, new is not bad. But oranges should not be sold as papayas, you know?) It's not so good an idea to get sloppy at the end of the Mulder-Scully road. It might be remembered that if a parent loses a child, there is not generally an immediate move to procreate or adopt a new "replacement" child. The truth is that any new child, while welcomed as a new life and new family member, is not the original child who was lost. As a way of approaching the *new* series direction, 1013 Productions will need to acknowledge that the x-files mythology arcs have warped waaay out of control of the Yo-Yo Master. Some slight loss of control has always been a problem--an understandable one, for such a complex web of stories! But the string is unraveling at present, and that unraveling may well unravel the show's fan support base. And that is (with apologies to A Thousand Clowns), my honest child's opinion from the blue, blue sky. |

Your Comments: | Mulder's *quest* has, since the very first episode, been the driving force behind The X Files, and CC's decision to continue the show while the central character is *missing* marks a significant turning point. Maybe if the Samatha & Conspiracy arcs had been tied up with a little more regard for the show's seven-year history, I could be more...content with what is going on right now. As it is, however, nothing has been resolved, and I do not think the hasty manner in which the history of the Mulder family's involvement in the Great Conspiracy has been handled, nor the way in which the Conspiracy story line itself has been resolved, has given me a sense of 'closure'. Neither do I feel has the character of Fox Mulder been granted that sense of completion and, well, dignity he so richly derserves. |

Your Comments: | I will show my support of Mulder (DD) the only way I know how. As a LONG TIME fan of X Files, I will boycot all non-Mulder eps in S8. BECAUSE, (Allow me to state THE OBVIOUS), THERE IS NO X FILES WITHOUT MULDER! I am highly disappointed that FOX/CC did not seize an opportunity in S8 and give X Files the ending it deserves, plus save a movie franchise. Seems they would rather introduce a new character, ala NYPD BLUE, in an attempt to drag on a show that way past its prime. It is sad when a network does this to a show (for the almighty $$$$). A special note to CC: Thank you for the show. One of the best ever on television. But for me, 'Closure' was "THE END" of the show. You'll never top that episode (trilogy). Should have stopped while you were ahead, instead of getting in bed (again) with one sleezy network (Harsh Realm - Exhibit A). And to DD: I so admire your work in making Mulder come to life. You also have my personal admiration for sticking to your principals! |

Your Comments: | Thank you for creating this site! While I think it is a bad decision to continue a show past its prime, I understand that in television commerce will always win out over art. What I don't understand or condone is 1013's insistence on downplaying and worse, denigrating David's enormous contribution to the XFiles success. As of now, I will *only* watch episodes with David in them! I think in a year or so, the "Powers" will finally understand how much the success of the show owed to *David's* creation and portrayal of Mulder. |

Your Comments: | You know a few month ago I was really looking forward to season 8, the spoilers were out there and there was promise. Then came the EW cover and article and my hopes were dashed. Season 8 isn't about finding Mulder, it's about getting rid of Mulder. Comments from everyone in that article were indifferent to Mulder and David himself. "THanks for all your hard work, now get out." At this point I don't care if they find him or not because the end result we be the same, he's gone. THe end should have come last season-all it took was a look-from Mulder when Scully was handed that baby, I knew it was over. No one in televison can project emotions like David can. The partnership is over. All this "they're not partners" stuff from Chris, when every article, every interview you read says Doggett is her new partner, yea, and the sparks are already flying-it took 7 years for the sparks to fly before-and alreay there are sparks between he and Scully-she MIGHT be carrying Mulder's baby for christ sakes! Personally, I'm not a shipper, but I will admitt that the main reasone I have watched this show for 7 years is that "relationship" between Mulder and Scully. It's really sad that this wonderfully brilliant show has some to this-backstabbing. I don't pretend to know the details of David's lawsuit, and I'm sure that it caused a lot of tension over the past year but is that what this, a payback? How belittling of everyone involved. As a fan, I want respect too, I've had enough of this audience manulipulation-having David around this year is only to get sweeps ratings and nothing else, stop toying with me. I have yet to see any attempt from 1013 or FOX to mend the rift that EW issue caused. Great way to turn off the fans right before the season starts wasn't it? This series was always about respect-obviusly it's creators no longer have any. |

I love Scully and Gillian is a wonderful actress and I'm sure she could handle the show but The X-Files, for me, is Mulder AND Scully and although the show may go on without our Mulder it is not fair considering many people have grown up with these characters. It's weird enough thinking of a new character but it's awful to think of Mulder gone. |

Your Comments: | My wife and I are very big X-File Fans, however, when Mulder leaves, we leave. My wife saw the movie 53 times in theaters and still watches it at home. If 1013 and FOX think that they continue the TV show and perhaps the movie franchise without DD they have no clue as to what is really going on with the show's fans. The X-Files are David Duchovny and any attempt to separate the two will most surely fail. We will certainly not watch the show once DD is no longer at part of it. |

Your Comments: | It seems to me that Fox is taking David's lawsuit personally, and as a result trying to punish David by humiliating him with a replacement, before he has even left the show. The problem is that they just look like the bad guys because the show is suffering for their misplaced revenge. The character of Mulder deserves to be treated with a believable exit in the series. The actor David Duchovny should also be treated fairly by Fox, since he has contributed to mucj to the character development of Fox Mulder. |

Your Comments: | The uniqueness of the show brought me in as a fan of the X-Files, but I quickly fell in love at the relationship between Mulder and Scully. Their partnership went beyond all boundaries. No matter what the case, no matter the pain and hardship each one had, they were there for each other, and they slowly fell in love. From partnership, to friendship, to a love that people seldom see. Why did the fans believe in this love affair, because of the wonderful relationship and pure chemistry that these two actors (David and Gillian) had for the characters. They made these characters believable and reeled us in. The complete silence and then the umph of all the sounds in the theater when Fight the Future was airing and the hallway scene, showed the intensity and the love-affair that us fans have for these two characters. And now, you are telling us that Mulder was a 'fake' as Chris Carter said on the article on Entertainment Weekly. This only makes a fool out of the fans that supported him through the years. That brought the ratings to what they are now. Because no matter how wonderful David and Gillian were in the show, and how great the writers and stories were, without the viewership of the fans, it would not be still on the air after 7 years. Do I want an 8th season... I would have really loved it to have been given a closure for us as well. To close it in a dignified way. I heard Gillian in interviews that she wanted the same thing, but now I see her signing on. Whatever the reason being, I know it had to be contractual, and I respect that. But the things that Mr. Carter has said, it seems to be so ungrateful to the actor that helped the show be where it is today. I respect Mr. Duchovny's wishes and yes, family is more important. I have nothing against that. If it is to continue, then I will go along with that BUT.... when I hear lies again of Doggett not being a partner, and then yes being a partner, and then a certain chemistry, I'm sorry. That infuriates me and others as well, because we are being laughed at. With the pregnancy, I am in the minority I'm afraid, and I do like the turn of events, BUT... I will tell you something, if it ends up to be an alien baby, not only will you again lose Mulder fans, David fans, but you will also lose Gilian and Scully fans as well. That will not only make the fans fools, but also take an injustice at all the suffering that this character has had. We want to see them together, to walk into the moonlight, hand in hand as at the end of FTF. We remember the tender touch at the end of Amor Fati, the tears that Scully shed for Mulder on that show, I can go on and on but I'm going to use up this whole page, and then you are going to tell me that she has 'chemistry' with another character. Why not make it into a show that we can have maybe 3 or 4 2-hour episodes - like special of the weeks or something.. This will shorten the work for the two actors, and we, the fans can be happy. If this is not to be, then take it to a franchise, BUT w/both of them. Not one or the other. And if this is not to be, then give us ALL the respect and close it as it should, with dignity |

Your Comments: | If Fox wants to give TXF *two* new leads then, in the words of Mulder and Scully-- sure, fine, whatever. But Mulder and Scully need closure to make us fans happy. They need to wrap up their story *together* and remain at each other's side where they belong. This new male lead pairing up with Scully is garbage. I have nothing against the actor but the character of Doggett has *no place* in the TXF as a replacement for Mulder or as a third wheel to Mulder and Scully. Please Fox/1013, we've stood by the show for 7 years. Do right by us and the characters you created. Don't split up the origional pair. |

Your Comments: | X-Files without Mulder is like strawberries without cream - bleah. Series should have ended at the end of Season 5 going out on a high. I will tape Season 9, check the newsgroups, if Duchovny is in it, I'll watch it otherwise, I won't waste my time. nicky who has been watching the show since September 1993 |

Your Comments: | Something has to be done to preserve the Mulder identity from being just shoved out of the X files. I am here to show my support for Mulder's character and my hope that Fox will realize that Mulder is needed if the show is to continue on as a movie franchise! |
