Your Comments: | While I wholeheartedly respect DD's choice to cut back on his work with the show, I resent the implication that he can be easily replaced. For me, the heart of the X-Files is Mulder and the Mulder/Scully relationship. Without that, it's just another sci-fi/horror show. Yes, many of the plotlines are intriguing, but the characters are what kept me tuning in. To act as if that dynamic can be reproduced with a different actor is insulting to DD and GA as well as the characters of Mulder and Scully. |

Your Comments: | I have been an X-Phile for three years now and find the serious exceptional. The characters of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have taught me so much of how life really should be, and how important trust is. Their partnership is one of the most chairshed things to me and I'm deeply sadden by the desicion at 1013 to go on without Mulder. I truly think that they are too blinded by money and profits that they have destroyed one of the best shows on TV. It used to be that I couldn't dream of living without X, but now I just want it to be over. How can a show that was completly focused on the partnership of two people for seven years suddenly change and expect to be successful? It won't be and the fans are the first to admit it. We love Mulder and we don't want the show without him. It just wouldn't be right. The show started with Mulder and Scully and it should end with both Mulder and Scully, partners and soul mates they way they are meant to be. |

Your Comments: | DD as Mulder is one of the few reasons I watch tv at all. In fact, the *only* show I reguarly watch is XF; otherwise the set stays off.(Unless I happen to be watching XF reruns, of course.) Right now I am saving for a DVD player so I can watch Season 1, which I got earlier this year as a birthday gift. I have all the official VHS tapes, which I still watch, too. I am hoping to be able to afford Season 2 DVD's as well, if I don't get them for Christmas. |

Your Comments: | I began watching this show for the spooky plots, continued watching for the mythology, but gradually found myself devoted not to either of those, but to the characters who together faced these powerful themes of trust and belief. Without the dynamic between Mulder and Scully as played by Mr. Duchovny and Ms. Anderson I think I would never have been drawn to this magnificent series. I wish Mr. Duchovny luck in his blossoming career but I selfishly mourn the impending loss or dwindling of the complexly human character of Mulder and with that, the disintegration of his equally powerful relationship with Scully. My only hope is that the creaters keep the quality of the show high, and the integrity of Mulder and intact. If they manage that even in the face of new challanges, I will remain forever a devoted fan. |

Your Comments: | Forgive me...I am about to ramble a bit, but I do make a point. Really. <g> You know, it seems to me there was another show that I loved and obsessed...I mean focused on... before the X-Files came onto the scene. I know there are those of you out there who remember the show,Northern Exposure, and I wonder if I'm the only one who sees a similarity in how that show was treated (and its fans) compared to how Philers are being treated when it comes to the X-Files. NX (there's something about that letter of the alphabet, isn't there!? <G>)lost it's lead character in much the same way XF has. Rob Morrow decided he wanted to move on in his career, and so began a limited engagement in the series final season... (which IMHO should have ended with Morrow's departure...but of course that's the reason I see a similarity between the two shows...) TPTB at Universal decided the show still had some life in it and attempted to replace Morrow's character, Dr. Joel Fleischman, with not one, but two characters in the form of a married couple, played by Paul Provenza and Teri Polo. Let's just say, it did't fly. The viewers couldn't accept them because when Fleischman left, the entire P.O.V. of the show changed. Rather than attempt to expand the roles of the characters viewers were already familiar with, TPTB chose to bring in completely new characters to fill the void. Fans of NX were practically grieving the loss of the 'voice' of their show, and yet TPTB still tried to jam the new characters, the Capras, down our throats. It didn't work then, I suspect it won't work now. Rather than expand the roles of characters we have grown to respect and love (and love to hate <eg>) over the last several years, such as Skinner and Krycek, we are being asked to accept a new character without reservation. I've been burned once before. I can't tell you how overly cautious I will be in terms of accepting any character or plot thread that does not treat the Mulder character with the respect it deserves. I can't tell you how frustrating it is for me to watch a show go down the tubes because TPTB don't use common sense. I hope common sense prevails in this new fall season. I hope the fans' voices are heard, this time. Be loud, my friends...deaf ears have prevailed in the past, so we must be prepared to be loud and persistent in order to get through the selective hearing ailment the collective powers that be seem to be suffering from. |

Your Comments: | I believe that David Duchovny deserves on-going recognition for the role he has played as Fox Mulder for the past 7 years. His character deserves a dignified ending, one with respect and proper closure. Sure CC created him and the rest of TXF universe, but it was DD who breathed life & soul into Mulder and has made him such a memorable person in the lives of so many fans the world over. Thanks David for your wonderful, amazing work and the very best for whatever you choose to do in the future. I'm very much looking forward to taking the journey with you, just as I have followed the steps of each of the characters you have brought to life so far. |

Your Comments: | In support of both David and Gillian and the two wonderful characters they have created over the last seven years, even though change may be inevitable, don't forget that the characters may have started on paper, but it is the actors that brought them to life. Their onscreen chemistry is unique and so rarely seen on television today. I am only speaking for myself, but I am sure others will agree, we don't want to see a typically masculine character, aren't there enough of those in television as it is? Although saying that it would be wrong to try and recreate Mulder, as that, I think, in everyone's eyes is wrong. While I am sure Robert Patrick is a talented actor, please don't forget that many of us watch the X Files for the obvious chemistry between David and Gillian, and the history of their characters, both individually and together. Please don't alienate the people that have supported and followed the show both from the beginning and along the way. Remember if people stop watching, what reason is there to continue. |

If there is no longer going to be a true believer on this show, what is it going to be about? Your Comments: | I loved your summation. It kills me that this bothers me so much, I mean it's a TV show for Pete's sake, but I can't help it. I feel as if a piece of my soul or my heart is being pulled apart. I love the X-Files but I love it for Mulder, because for me that/he is the X-Files. I'm not caring anything for this new character...although I admit before all these articles started coming out I was more open to it. NOw it just feels like they are saying "screw Mulder", or "Mulder? Who's that?" If David doesn't want to come back for anymore i.e. 9th season, then I pray it doesn't go to a 9th season. My hope is that (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the ratings really aren't there for it this year. I think it's time to end it and they need to end it good. Scully and Mulder belong together....Chris Carter you better not screw us over. |

Your Comments: | I find it sad that TPTB have forgotten what dynamic made this show such a success with the fans. Whether you were a 'shipper' or a 'noromo' the fact of the matter is that viewers were enthralled by the interactions of the two stars of the show, but more importantly, by the personal history, actions, and reactions of the driving force behind the show, the character Fox Mulder. The X-Files stories are Mulder's to tell; no one else has the heart, the desire, the *need* to tell those stories. For TPTB to assume that the viewers are easily swayed to ignore 7 years of what has truly been the backbone of this series is quite frankly insulting. The character of Fox Mulder *is* the X-Files. The Mulder-Scully dynamic is what kept many of the viewers interested in coming back time and time again. Scully was the yin to Mulder's yang; without Mulder, Scully's character is not whole, nor IMHO, nearly as interesting. We need to remember Mulder. It's understood by the viewers that the actor, David Duchovny chose to sign on for a limited number of appearances. I will not fault the actor for doing that. I do, however, fault FOX, Inc and 1013 Productions for continuing production of the X-Files under false pretenses. Without Mulder, it is not the same show. Without its heart, how can TPTB expect it to be the same. More importantly, why would they? People associated with 1013 Productions have spoken out of both sides of their mouth one time too often, I fear. The promise of not continuing the show without David Duchovny's participation was broken. The notion that a new character (and this is by no means any disrespect to Robert Patrick)can fulfill the show's heart is foolish. The notion that Patrick and Gillian Anderson, as both of them have purported, can reproduce the type of chemistry that the Mulder-Scully dynamic had and enthralled viewers with is, quite frankly absurd and an insult to viewers. Treat the character of Fox Mulder with the respect he deserves. More importantly, treat the fans with more, and you might retain our viewership. Sincerely, Susan Proto |

Your Comments: | Being an X-Files fan from the Pilot episode, I thought that the worst thing that could ever happen to the show occurred when they moved from Vancouver to Los Angeles. I hope that 1013 doesn't prove me wrong, and handles Mulder's exit with grace and savoir faire. Anyone who's watched for seven years will have difficulty adjusting to the changes for season eight, and I just hope that 1013 makes it as easy as possible, by giving some closure. |

I guess I want to repeat everything he said, but I want to add that aside from being close coz of our names and birthdays, my cousin and I, as well as the rest of our family, are close coz of the X Files. Even when we were sick at the sight of each other and couldn't find the words to say to each other, we could always talk about Files. But to us, that always constituted M and S, and if that gets taken away, what the hell are we gonna talk about. I've spoken to 'Files Families' and they say the same thing, that the good memories will be spoiled by what we know is going to come. Boy is it ever gonna affect FOX's sales *g*. I'm in no mood to put my thoughts down as eloquently as my cousin, but I support this none the less. C'mon folks get signin' that guestbook *vbg*. |

Your Comments: | I just wanted to say that the X-Files will always be about Mulder & Scully. No one can ever replace DD/Mulder - never. He brings so much to this show. Since I started watching the X-Files in S4, what captivated me was the absolute wonderful chemistry between GA/DD. They are the ones who bring these characters to life. There have been great stories over the years of this show, but what sold me on this show was the relationship of M&S and their quest and that came about as a result of seeing the movie. Now that we're in the eighth and maybe final year of this series, it would be an injustice to the audience, as well as the characters, whom we fell in love with, not to give them a semblance of a chance for happiness -- not sappy, but definitely a reward for all the pain and suffering they've endured. I'd like know at the end of this season that Mulder, Scully and their baby have a chance at happiness. |

Your Comments: | I was a late joiner to the X Files phenomon (sp?) but after Fight the Future, I was hooked and even got a dish to catch up on all the episodes I missed on FX. I love the dynamic between Mulder and Scully, I like the fact that it does seem to be their child, but I understand David Duchovney's need to move on - everyone gets bored with their job, and he lasted in his job longer than most of the working American public last in their's. Since X Files is the only television I watch, I am happy to keep an open mind and see where it goes in season 8. I think Gillian Anderson is a wonderful, compelling actress and her Scully is a strong, possibly stronger character than Mulder. Anyway, I agree there should be closuer, messy, tidy, whatever, I just hope 1013 wraps up the Mulder/Scully dynamic - otherwise it could hold Gillian and Dana back from succeeding in other adventures. I also don't think it's too much to ask for one really passionate scene between our heros - with the baby implications, there is tons of room for that to happen, and I really hope that if another movie is made that David and Gillian can be re-united in some manner, while still including the new John Dogget character. |

Your Comments: | There is no way some big bad law enforcement man is going to take Mulder's place. I'm tired of getting fed all this garbage about how Agent Doggett will be "protective" over Scully and how he will probably "check her out" and, oh yeah, how "the sparks will be flying." Nothing against Robert Patrick, but the only chemistry we want to see is between Mulder and Scully. We didn't remain fans for seven years to see Mulder be replaced in the end. Maybe 1013 should try to stay in touch with their fans instead of giving us our opinions and telling us what we'll like. All I want is a dignified exit for Mulder and PLEASE give the man some closure. DD has been brilliant over the years, so let's give his character what he deserves - a good ending. Thanks. |

Your Comments: | I would just like to take the time to commend those who have taken the time to organize this very important cause, especially at a time where a *very* talented actor and the character he has so very carefully brought to life, a character that is essentially the heart and soul of the series, seems to be rather conveniently forgotten and maligned by press comments, whether or not those comments are intended to be humorous. And of course the disrespect for the character results in disrespect for the fans, which I believe is pretty much the core issue here. So *major* kudos to those who have taken up this cause -- hopefully some positive results can come as a result of this, and DD, Mulder *and* we the fans can get the respect we deserve! |

I respect DD's reasons for moving on, wish him great success and thank him for the time he has already spent on the X-Files. I'd be willing to give the new character(new show) a chance *if* I felt FOX/1013 wasn't shoving Dogboy down my throat and discarding Mulder. Use season 8 for a graceful transition between the X-Files and the "Next Files". |

Your Comments: | I have found the show to be addicitve, I think part of that passion is due to the brilliant performaces of David Duchovny. His rapport with Gillian is a key element in my involement with the show. David brings alive one of my favorite fantasies: That we are not alone and that key elements of government would like to keep this from the general public. I hope David agrees to stay on at least as a writer or director, But I think the show will suffer without him. I have great praise for Gillian Anderson abd everything she has brought to the show but I think the key to it's success is their relationship with one another. Please bring David back |

Your Comments: | I have been hooked on the X-Files since I first started watching during the 3rd season, and I must say that the prospect of a season with very little Mulder is worrysome. I hope they can pull it off okay, but it just won't be the same without one of the main characters! |

Your Comments: | Hi, I've been watching the show since the beguining, and I love it!, but when the season 8 ended, I started being really worried about x files future, I need Mulder in the X files, I think without Mulder or Scully, the show won't be the same. at least not to me. they both are x files. If one of them decide to go, I prefer the show ends. Sdana. |

Your Comments: | Seven years. Wow, I can't believe this ride with Mulder and Scully has lasted so long. A tv show can't change your life, but it can give you some more strenght to stand for what you believe. And it can give you hope. Hope that real friendship and real love do exist after all, and if you are really lucky, you'll find them. Mulder has taught me that not everything dies. Don't treat him bad. Please. |

Your Comments: | The show has every right to go in a new direction! But this pr campaign for the new season,i feel is being done to make us forget Mulder entirely! If they think they can duplicate the chemistry of Mulder & Scully they are sadly mistaken! The show doesn't work as well when you subtract either actor from the show! |

Your Comments: | Gillian Anderson is a wonderful actress, and I will watch the X-files as long as she is in it. I will, however, not watch it with the passion that I have watched past episodes. I believe, that the X-files is built around the relationship of Mulder and Scully. The chemistry that David and Gillian have brought to my television screne. Sure, the episodes are well written, but I think most people watch for Mulder and Scully. As Chris should have has seen with his other two shows, which have sadly failed, because I believe that they were missing one key ingredient key to the X-files success...Scully AND MULDER!!! |

Your Comments: | I think that a ninth season without Mulder would be a big mistake for the many fans like myself who have watched the show for years and appreciate the Mulder-Scully dynamic which has always been an important part of the show.Without the presence of Mulder this show woould not have been the success that it has been and I think it would be a terrible way to end a series on which one of the main characters is missing. |

Your Comments: | Being a Dutch Phile and spoiler-virgin (a truly dreadful combination, I can tell you), I haven't even seen season 6 yet. Even being on this site is pure blasphemy. The latest ramblings of the powers that be, however, force me to speak out. "By the ens of the season, they may be wishing Mulder gone"?!? I used to think CC was King, but after "Harsh Realm" and this, I'm seriously considering a plot of him being abducted and replaced by an alien clone... and not a very good one, at that :( If 1013 et. al. can't be trusted to "kill off" Mulder in a respectful manner, can we please somehow convince Morgan/Wong to write a good series ender and post it on the 'Net somewhere? Dreams, sweet dreams... |

Your Comments: | Love the site! A Mulderless x-files is just pointless really. The whole thing is based on his quest for the truth. If there's no Mulder then I don't see how they can still call it the X-files. Part of what made the show so popular in the first place is the chemistry between Mulder and Scully. It's just gonna be pants without him! |

Your Comments: | I agree whole-heartedly with the sentiments on this web site. TPTB have teased us for years with no respect for ADULTS who INTELLIGENTLY follow characterization, plot development, etc. Now they intend to character-assassinate one of the most intriguing and well- developed characters in the history of fiction. Please bring the story of Mulder & Scully to a suitable dignified closure. No prancing starlight souls... for reference, may I point you to the story of Mary and Joseph in the New Testament, fleeing with the infant into exile. THAT would make a fitting parallel and dignified ending to this beautiful love story. |

Your Comments: | I`ve been an avid viewer of the X-Files since the fifth season began.I caught every past episode with the exception of 4 from the second season.Mulder is my favorite fictional character and one of the only reasons I watch the X-Files for the simple reason that he *is* the X-Files. It`s Mulder that begin them, carried them on,and it should be Mulder that finishes them.I`m willing to give up my favorite show in a few dignified final episodes if it is *Mulder* that does it.Replacing him is an outrage, however and as far as I,as well as my friends, are concerned the X-Files is over, when and if,Mulder leaves. As far as pulling a Darren,Fox should be ashamed. It didn`t work for a show as outdated as Bewitched,it certainly won`t work for an upbeat, intelligent show like the X-Files.Let`s not fool ourselves,Ladies, that`s what your doing. |

Your Comments: | I've been watchin the x-files since day one, religiously recording every episode since season 2 began (after I smartened up and bought a VCR....d'oh!) and I simply can't imagine the show without Mulder. To Hell with the aliens and the monsters under the bed....the whole reason the show works is the unmistakeable, indefinable chemistry between Mulder and Scully. As I once read somewhere, they are not really seperate characters; they are both two halves of the same person. Without Mulder, I'm afraid I will loose all interest. How sad it will be.... The X-Files will become a faded photograph of itself, taken from far away.... it may look similar, but it will not be The X-Files. |

Your Comments: | If FOX, 1013, and most notably Chris Carter, dare to harm Mulder in any way, or try to replace him with someone we don't care anything about, they are going to lose all of us. Is this the price they are willing to pay? Carter has referred to Mulder and Scully as his "children", which in a way they are, being his creation. But does a good parent torture and then kill his child? If he cares about Mulder so much, why is he doing this? I'm glad that such an uprising has occured, we need to stop this, if we can, as soon as possible. But as usual, to the people involved it all comes down to the bottom line and the almighty dollar. But I'm here to let them know that we've got a lot more than money invested in this show. Years and emotion don't count for anything? In my book they do, we've spent hours following Mulder, always faithful, never letting him down. Now the people in control are the ones letting *us* down. And as viewers, we are the ones that count the most. Way to go, Carter! |

Your Comments: | It has to be an end... Mulder said it perfectly well in Requiem. The X-files is one of the most important things in my life. I love the show, I love the characters, I love the writers, I love Chris Carter... but, for me, without Mulder, the X-files has no sense. So please, if the election is between future seasons without Mulder, and the end of the show... let's end this with dignity. We need some closure too. But we need it with Mulder and Scully in it. Just the way we've love the show for seven (now eight) years. The X-files will always, ALWAYS be in my heart. I wouldn't be the person I am without The X-files. Now, I just want to see a fair ending for my favorite show. We all deserve it. We all pray for it. We all need it. I have nothing against John Doggett, as long as he doesn't replace Fox Mulder. No Mulder, no X-files. |

Your Comments: | I love Mulder very much and I'm going to miss him. I suppose the thing that saddens me most is that tptb feel a need to bring in a new character when they don't do enough with already established and much loved characters like Skinner, Krycek, CSM and The Lone Gunmen as it is. The introduction of Fowley and Jeffrey Spender showed just how hostile the fans are to anyone stealing Mulder's territory - you'd have thought they would have learned that lesson by now and planned season 8 accordingly, while attempting to lure David Duchovny back for a season 9. |
Visitor's Name: Calissa Field You are from: montana Age Group: 0-18 Gender Female Comments: David gave us fans seven great years as Mulder. We've come to love him and his character. When my friends and i talk about the x-files we automatically think Mulder and Scully, not Scully and Dogface or whatever his name is. I no longer have the same respect for the show that I once did and I am not going to watch season 8. Maybe you should reconsider killing off Mulder.... Sign Time: October 20 2000 at 17:30:45 |
Visitor's Name: Jo Patkai You are from: Prince Edward Island, CANADA Age Group: 35-51 Gender Female Comments: While I'm not too sure what this is all about, I would just like to say that, to me, David and Gillian ARE the X-Files. And I hope FOX will remember just WHO made the show so popular with the viewing public. We tune in X-Files each week, not so much for the special effects, or plotline, but to see how things are developing between the two main characters, Mulder and Scully. It is the chemistry between these two that make the show what it is...soooo please give David his due, and don't try to push him out of the picture. Maybe FOX wants to gentle the blow of losing him, but, people, we are not losing him, at all. We are just going to see him in better form..you know the old saying "Quality is better than Quantity"..Whoever said this was a very wise person. Hello there, David!! Can't wait to see you strut your stuff in Season 8. Take care.. Sincerely Jolee Sign Time: October 20 2000 at 09:40:57 |

Although I don't want the show to come to an end I know it must. At least Mulder's stay on it must at some point. I just hate the idea that once Mulder is gone he's outta sight, outta mind. He's the whole reason for the show- his search. I hope that this will not be a fact "forgotten" by FOX and CC. Thanks and keep up the great work! Sign Time: October 10 2000 at 20:46:57 |

I ended up in tears. I mourn for the series, because I know it will carry on forever, but that doesn't mean we will watch. I will watch S8 however, just to see how the abduction is resolved. I hope and pray Mr.Carter and everyone else at 1013 realize the wrong they have done to us Philes and give the show the closure it deserves.
