Concerts started today. I’m kind of letting Noah be my guide with a lot of this, so I followed him to Futhermore, a hip hop group that wasn’t half bad. I liked it. English Dave has created a vest for himself that reads “Follow me, I’m lost and from England” He’s a kick in the head. He went around asking random people to sign his shirt. I think he scared them. One guy actually backed away like Dave had some disease. “Why?....why?” It was great.
We got a rockin’ surprise today. Shortly after we returned from Futhermore, Matt came running up in a huff saying, “Brave Saint Saturn is playing in 15 minutes to replace a band that couldn’t make it. Let’s GO!” I’m sure the place emptied out in less than three minutes ;). The set was FANtastic. Yes, Reese said “hell” and Dennis said “pissed” and everyone cheered. When we were coming back, I saw a blue shirt with “Rubber Walrus loves Damsel Annie” on the back. I pointed and we all shouted, “Boardie! Boardie!” Annie is totally adorable, she ran up and her mom took a picture of all of us.
English Dave is a kick in the pants. He got ahold of some easy cheese and said it was toothpaste, and proceeded to squeeze copious amounts of it into his mouth. Best part of the afternoon was him trying to imitate all parts of an orchestra. About an oboe: “That’s stupid! Why don’t they just train a weasel to do it *makes a face* And when you need to go higher, you poke it under the armpits! *peep!*” I was laughing my fool head off. Then we started talking about flipping people off, and how the English do it with a backwards peace sign, and Dave’s just flying around, waving his hands in the air and screaming like a fool. It was awesome!
Bob and Mimegirl came. They’re really teeny and cute. Mimegirl made a little FIF out of duct tape that is beyond 1337!
Noah, John, Jodi, Dave and I went to see Joy Electric. It was actually very frightening. There were so many people and some guy had this umbrella and was spinning it around and dancing really scary. The crowd scared me. They tossed others around crowd surfing. The whole scene was terrifying. I think I like the music better than the show itself.
We got back to camp around 10:00, and by 10:30 I had to remove myself and go to the beach alone. After a while, Noah came and we talked for a long time. Finally our butts got sore, and they were kicking people off the beach anyways, so we went back, and I felt better. The poetry reading tonight still wasn’t very big, but I still enjoyed it. By the end of the week, I want to have my own poems to read.
