The first track, ‘Proem’, is an interesting start to the EP; it is not a song, but simply a minute and a half of a soft guitar riff and synthesised noises and sound effects. It is very unusual, but serves its purpose by creating a brilliant contrast with the second track, ‘Forever.’

‘Forever’ is much louder and more energetic. It is a fantastic song; persuasive and undeniably a great listen. No surprise then, it was chosen over the likes of Franz Ferdinand to be on the soundtrack of a national play, “The Shape of Things”.

‘Hope In Your Heart’ is the next track – this song has a slight Oasis feel to it at times, and the vocals are very strong, matching the passion of the actual lyrics. The guitar riffs are motivating, forceful, and everything they are supposed to be.

The penultimate track, ‘In A Different Place’ starts as a much slower, more provocative song. The hypnotising lyrics begin with a simple riff, then as the drumming and heavier guitar explodes into your ears, you realise it is a more forceful song than first perceived to be. The best thing about this song is the fact it isn’t boringly consistent; the dynamics change every now and then, making it much less tedious than many songs you hear at the moment. This is definitely the best track on the EP – a curious mix of faintly emo vocals, and a garage rock melody.

The final track is the title track ‘In Our Time’. This begins with a heavy drum beat, which then ceases to reveal a more soft, reflective melody underneath, with a gentle bass line and slightly synthesised effects. I love the lyrics in this song; lyrics can often make a song, and in this case, they do. It is a fantastic end to the EP – in fact, the whole EP is something to be proud of. Buy it!
