Loggerhead are back with a new CD and a new sound. Still amazing, but with a heavier streak as well as their punk-influenced riffs and drum beats.

The first song, ‘Fuse’, is fast and melodic, more thoughtful punk but punk none the less. Still with the legendary “Hey! Hey!” in there, it’s a fast paced, spirited song, with strong lyrics and a catchy guitar riff. A memorable song with a great chorus.

Second song is ‘Finding Out’. This song is one that tells you Loggerhead have expanded their genre. This song is punk-metal! Still fast and furious, but with a slight metal edge to it if you listen hard enough.

Classic Loggerhead song that I believe they have dropped from their set, ‘Ideal For Open Fires’ comes next. Fucking great song, with quality Loggerhead appeal with that raw punk streak and great vocals which have been very well recorded. Awesome skanking material.

‘Prospect’ is next. Fast-as drumming from Wherly, great vocals and a cool tune makes this song a winner, and definitely a highlight of the CD, again with that weird but welcome heavier streak to it.

‘Downfall’ is the second to last song, and is back to the old school punk roots, sounding vaguely like an old Offspring song. Great guitar riff and bridge in this song; one I’d love to see played live.

Finally is ‘1994’. Great start, building into a climax, with strong vocals blasting out after a few seconds. Cool sound effects going on in the middle. A really, really good ending to the CD; this is a fantastic song and probably the best one on the CD. Fantastic vocals.

This is unquestionably worth a listen to, and if you get a chance, definitely go see them live. More information on Loggerhead at www.loggerhead.tk
