A night of comedy punk? Who’s crazy idea was that?! Cos whoever’s it was should sure have some more ideas pretty soon….

First up were S.L.O.T. This performance was much better than the time I last saw them…perhaps it was something to do with the fact that they were, as they would probably put it, fucking shitfaced! Very good set, despite the fact they had no idea what they were doing – I suppose S.L.O.T are the type of band that need no organisation though – they just pick up their shit and off they go. As usual, Adrian was blinding on guitar – S.L.O.T wouldn’t be S.L.O.T without him, it has to be said. Jimi Hendrix in a punk rock band! Tight set, good crowd response, lots of sweat. Just what I like to see.

Next came Robolint, who as usual were implausible. Not comedy genius’ apparently, but I beg to differ. With songs about palaeontologists and pasties, how could they be described as anything else? The palaeontologist song – I forget the name - was fantastic; a brand new collaboration of craziness and saxaphoning from this foolish five piece. Great vocals backed up by some excellent guitar and bra riffs.

Hacksaw followed – Jack and Meg White in hairy old men outfits, with added talent! At least, that what the cover of their CD would suggest… but it was a good set, musically and otherwise. I loved the fact that they were good and their noise filled the room without using bass ,and the songs were very amusing. Plus the stand up comedy would have put Jethro to shame. Nearly.

Finally came the Nacho Eating Poncho Monsters. I think the name says it all really! Very lively, happy songs - fantastic guitar and drumming, very impressive. And the clothes – actual ponchos! Wow! Incredibly tight set, maybe not quite as spectacular as the last time I saw them, but still blinding. Loved every minute.

Overall, a fantastic night, laughed myself to pieces. Then I went down to JFKs and laughed some more at the very gothic outfits……class mate, fucking class.
