Tonight was a much anticipated gig for myself, and I’m pretty sure quite a few other people out there, as there was such a good line-up and all for £4...who could resist? It was a night full of laughter, emotion, lots of filming and camera action, and crazed prostitutes ordering to be given pens...here’s how it went.
First band of the night, and a personal favourite of mine, were Through Silence. I hadn’t seen them before, but had heard a few songs, and many great things said about them, and boy did they live up to it. Their set was full of humour, crazy faces and a few minor injuries( done by the lead singer...to himself). They played quite a few songs from their new EP ‘ Renaissance’, which was definitely worth buying, hopefully there will be a review of that up soon!
Next band gracing us with their prescence, and very possibly the best band to perform during the night, was Make Her Cry playing their penultimate gig before they call it a day( sad I know). But their performance was outstanding. Everyone in the room seemed to stand to attention when they began, and there was a lot of crowd participation involved. Near the end of their set, it all suddenly dawned on me that this really could be the last time I ever saw them play together, and they very nearly did make this girl cry!
Next came Days In December, they too played an awesome set. The thing that stood out the most about this band to me was the singers microphone… I don’t really know why, I’m assuming it was because it was like the old style mic’s! Speaking of which, when trying to take a picture I had a microphone, complete with stand, fired at me from stage, this demonstrates just how explosive their set was. There was a lot of filming taking place during the show, and Make Her Cry’s, I’m assuming that it was for a video they were making, so look out guys! You could be on the telly soon enough.
And finally came Orca. I really would love to say that they were brilliant tonight, but to be honest I didn’t particularly think they were. Don’t get me wrong, they played a very good set, it just wasn’t any better than any other time that I have seen them.
On the whole, the night was a great success, great bands, great music, great atmosphere. If you weren’t there, then sorry to say this but you seriously missed out!
If you want to see Make Her Cry play their last show EVER then its in Yeovil on the 9th of July. Check out their site for details www.makehercry.com
