Xposé has been around since 1998, and has evolved from a small quiet eatery into a three in one second home for a wide range of gay Singaporeans and tourists. The place grew out of a need for a laid back and unpretentious bar restaurant where one and all can feel comfortable in. Xposé is currently preparing for a new stint in life after resuming its original name at the beginning of October 2001 under a new management.
Xposé is tuck away in the quiet confines of the 2nd floor of Cuppage Thai Food Restaurant, located at Cuppage Terrace (next to StarHub Center) in central Orchard. The owner, Mr. Alan Yeo, ran the quaint eatery by himself in the early days, and as supporters began streaming in, friends lend a hand to help manage the bar restaurant. No prizes for guessing that Xposé serves Thai food as well.
In November 2000, Xposé was converted into Big Boys Bar & Restaurant, a uniquely chub and chaser club, which was managed by Mr. Barry Teo. The place attracted a new group of customer base targeting the forgotten niche group of the common people. After its phoenix out of the fire rebirth to Xposé, the new management has vowed to maintain the unique environment for its existing customers while also opening its doors to welcome anyone who is looking for a quiet meal and a relaxing drink.
An interesting fact of the place is that Cuppage Thai Food Restaurant, the establishment downstairs, is a gay friendly family business and the entrance to Xposé is from the staircase situated within the restaurant. No doubt this has lead to many guests dire embarrassment or mild confusion in locating the place. A rainbow symbol has now been placed on the front window to assist with its discovery.
The philosophy of Xposé has always been for everyone to find a place to call home in the jungle of modern society. Armed with tolerance and understanding, the ride begins anew. And we hope that you will take the time to join us for the journey to find a little contentment in ourselves through the satisfaction of building a new culture of openness and hope, together.
Peace.
