Sun, Food and Softball
Wheeler, IN - In a brilliant display of softball, food and lighter fluid, marketing wizard Amanda Isakson made XSA for the most successful cookout in history.
The cookout, held November 9-11 in Larry Babcock's back, front and side yards, was a non-stop "party."  Coaches, players, fans, board members, friends and family of all of these, were invited to the first annual cookout, it turned out to be a huge event.  Over 10,000 people were counted entering "The Fairgrounds" that is Babcock's yard on Friday evening.
The first draft was simply a two hour weenie roast, Brian Carraher, traveling secretary, had other plans.  His idea was to charge people to enter, park and sleep on the grounds, also charge them for food and food products.  The beauty part is it was up to the individual teams to bring food and things to prepare their food, so the XSA was making a killing.
The infamous, "Uncle Moke," is seen here after rounding third base....in Moke's van
Jeff King was MC for the events and was suprised by the turn out.  "It was nice to see all the yokels out enjoying the festivities."  Phil Mulroe was unable to attend to do prior engagements, "I wish I could have been there, I wasted away my weekend as it were."  The XSA made over 100,900 dollars over the weekend, on gate fees and food fees alone.  T-shirt sales, which turned out to be wife beaters with sharpie writing on them, sold over 5,000 dollars worth.  Treasurer, Jon Wendell, said the money is being kept in a shoe box, under his bed, where "no one will find it."
The money will not be misused according to King and Mulroe, who plan on making improvements in company cars and pay rates for the President position.
"To waste this money that the company has worked hard to obtain would be pointless, we have many things we need to do with this money.
But to start..steak dinners on me!"
"I know I only ran to first base, but man am I winded, oh right...the cigs!"
