A list of sources of information used for names and dates found in this website. |
(Edna) Grace (Lamb) Parris: personal letters to author of website detailing information that she either knew firsthand or saw in the Par(r)is family Bible.
LDS PAF files, information compiled by other researchers. Sometimes fraught with mistakes, nonetheless very valuable at finding "leads" or reinforcing your own information.
Vital Records Index: North America CD-ROM issued by The LDS Family History Resource File series. Excellent but limited resource for births/christenings and marriages between 1600's and late 1800's. The LDS says that it will continue to publish these CD-ROMs as more information is transcribed from official records.
George M. Parris, personal recollections via telephone (numerous conversations) and letters.
Emails from Bryn Asbury. Thank you for your info!
Vital Records, including birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records, etc.
Correspondence, including Emails and letters, with Kimberly Brynne Hatfield. Thank you for everything!
WFT Project, by Broderbund. Numbers used: 1, 2, 9. Generally, I try to use these as little as possible except to get a "lead", because no one verifies them before they are published. You may, then, end up taking as fact someone's fantasy or conjecture.
A Time-Life book, which was about the American Frontier. Unfortunately, it was a Library book, and I didn't think to write down the reference information (I was so darn excited to find the name of my ancester in print, I just plain forgot!)
1918 Prairie Farmer's Reliable Directory, as quoted in an EMail from Fran E. Work, a wonderful volunteer in IL.
Close relation, interviews and my own personal memory.
Davis Co., IA Deaths and Marriages.
Eleanore Miller, a distant cousin related via the Spiker line, on a phone interview about her collected information over 20+ years.
Email from Joanne White, thanks Joanne!
Email from Richard W. Sheffield, kind enough to share info
family, interviews etc.
family oral history.
Henderson Co., IL Cemeteries by Virginia Ross, 1979, as quoted by Fran Work in her Email.
Interview with Harvey Crippen, a distant cousin. He has been researching for a long time, and his cousin (another Crippen, Stuart this time) is the father of a classmate of mine, Neal Crippen. I got to meet all of Harvey's kids, Stuart, Loretta his wife, and many of Harvey's grandchildren and had a wonderful time! Stuart and Harvey shared many memories with me and Neal. It was interesting to see how "cousins" so distantly related can have so much in common!

Letters and Emails from Debi Smeltzer, sharing a book
