child discipline

i think that spanking is unnecessary (my mom never spanked me, and i am one of the most obediant kids i know... whether or not that's exactly a good thing, though [xD], is something i will leave up to debate :P) to raise a child. if you teach him/her the limits, the only thing that is necessary is "time out" or perhaps the occassional slap. time outs have been proven to work... i have seen it in action with my friends younger brother! but why, you may ask, is spanking worse than smacking? simple... to me, it seems like spanking is... an invasion of privacy. a slap across the cheek isn't as "hard", but still does what it was intended, and also is usually only done once (not a series of times in a row, like spanking). why use unnecessary force? it's just tiring, a waste of energy. not to mention rude. it's like when people type in ALL CAPS instead of like normal creatures with brains, or when they shout when talking could have done. >_> too annoying.
