Inner Leaf

(written September 14, 2004)

Lonely, solitary and you
Spin. What, is it that
You hope to
Become?

I see where
Your heart
Has traveled.
You are nowhere but
Alone,

And I feel your smiles
Crumbling, you're mumbling
Losing touch on
Reality...

When you spread your arms and
Tell me your color
(red... sometimes gold)
I smile and try to
Listen,
But my mind is closed.

You saw me and I
Had pity on your fierce soul,
Like you for me?
I shudder in the
Cool breeze,
But you...
    you fly

When I ask,
"Where art thy wings?"
It loses meaning in the wind,
And watches you disappear.

You leave behind
A trace of dust,
Crisping the air and
Granting the world,
Completely,
a smile.

A moment passes,
And I turn away from the
Rotting leaf,
Sadly.
You got away from me and I,
I looked away from you.
