Ugly Phil Interview
(July 14, 1999)

Phil: We're live, we'll start off with Isaac Hanson comin' out to Australia, of course for the Ugly Phil Hot 30 Countdown in October. How ya doin', buddy, what have you been up to?

Isaac: Umm, not a whole... well a lot actually, and not a whole lot at the same time, right?

Phil: Yeah, sure. So you back in the studio? I think Taylor...

Isaac: We're back in the studio, uh we've uh... at the moment we're takin' a short break, but uh we're back in the... we've been doin some work in the studio. Everything's been going real well and we're looking forward to getting this album done and out pretty soon.

Phil: So what happens when you're in there? Do you spend like 6 in the morning till 6 at night, there and then you walk out completely exhausted?

Isaac: Well, actually its more like 1 in the afternoon to 1 in the morning.

Phil: Does it get frustrating for you?

Isaac: Ummmm... not really. I guess you could say we're kind of perfectionistic and tend to work long hours at our own beck and call, I guess. We tend to work pretty long hours because we like to do that I guess.

Phil: Yeah, have you been having any band arguments? It's like a family, isn't it really?

Isaac: Well, no not really. We all have a pretty good idea of where we're going. You know, everything takes time. You know, there's a lot of down time between there and you know, setting up certain things. If you decide you need to get a different instrument or re-mic something 'cause it's not sounding very good things like that. Hours go by. That's why you tend to work longer hours because there's down time.

Phil: Are you trying anything tricky in the studio now?

Isaac: Umm, not anything particularly tricky you know trying to make everything sound just right.

Phil: Sure, sure, hey listen how much has your life changed in the last three years now?

Isaac: Umm, well you know I mean it's been quite crazy. It's calmed down a little bit for us, which has been nice. We kinda purposely, we're trying to wait a moment and get everything calmed down before we jumped back into the studio only because we wanted to take a little bit of a break. Of course, we toured last year in the States, unfortunately we weren't able to get to Australia. We'll be coming to Australia.

Phil: Yeah, well you know your fans will be hanging out to see you down here.

Isaac: Oh, I know! At the same time, we've been cooling down, we've had a lot on our plate and just trying to make sure that everything..that we're ready to get in the studio and get all the songs finished up and that kind of thing.

Phil: Aside from that, what have you been doing? Have you got your drivers license?

Isaac: Oh yeah, you know I've been doing plenty of driving and all that kinda of stuff. Actually Taylor has his drivers license.

Phil: Got it? Did he right? Excellent. What are you driving? What's he driving?

Isaac: Well, we're pretty much driving family cars. So, you know, it one of those things where you have your designated family car. Whatever. We're just spending a little time with our friends, taking a little time off.

Phil: Of course. Who's made the most dents in the family car?

Isaac: A couple little small, small fender benders.

Phil: Your dad hasn't found out about it yet, so I won't say anymore.

(Laughing)

Isaac: Luckily, it wasn't bad enough for it to be a big deal, okay?

Phil: Yeah, you hang on there a second. I want to talk to Zac about our side project, the rap thing, and also to Taylor Hanson.

Phil: I got Taylor Hanson on the line from their studio in Los Angeles. They're putting together the new album. How many tracks do have for the new album, Taylor?

Taylor: Um, well we've written all the new songs on this album.

Phil: But, I mean how many did you go into the studio with, ten?

Taylor: Um, well, basically we started with 16. We said, well these are kinda like the runners up for the album and there's other songs we're still working on right now that will probably get presented to the album. But, sorta 16 is where we started off with for the fun of it that we've talked about.

Phil: Right, right. Any covers?

Taylor: Any covers? Um, we're actually considering that. We were thinking about maybe doing an Isley Brothers song or something like that just kinda like for the fun of it that we’ve talked about

Phil: Sure, sure. How many tracks are you gonna have for the album?

Taylor: Uh, you know, there's the unlucky number..13

(laughing)

Taylor: We're kinda of going for unlucky..off the wall, because actually we had technically we had 13 on the last album, so we're probably thinking in that range.

Phil: So, have you got a working title for it, yet?

Taylor: You know what, the titles are almost always the last thing that you come up with but, we have a lot of ideas. Nothing that's sticking yet.

Phil: Sure, so tell me about some of the new songs. I heard that it was going to be a little older than the stuff on the last album, I mean well, you had on the first album, anyway.

Taylor: Older? As in like more mature?

Phil: More mature sounding, yeah.

Taylor: Umm, you know it's hard to say exactly (in deep voice) Yes, it's more mature.

(Laughing)

Taylor: You know, every song is different, I guess you experience different things and the songs are gonna change. You know, I think people are gonna hear and still go... That's Hanson... 'cause there's always gonna be that sound that you hear.

Phil: Sure, that's right

Taylor: But, yeah, they're definitely changing and we're really, really excited about it.

Phil: Can you tell me about some of the song titles so that, you know, the fans can get an idea of what to look forward to?

Taylor: Hmmm, let me think. Um, well there's a song called "Runaway Run." I can just throw songs out there, but...

Phil: Hey, what's happening with MOE? Is that still going?

Taylor: That is going strong. We're still trying to really branch it out in Australia, but it's been going really well. You know, writing articles and that. It's just really fun.

Phil: Have you been doing any touring? There's been, you hear sporadic tours from you guys, but you've been really quiet haven't you really?

Taylor: Well we've been working on music, is really what we've been primarily focusing on really making this album. You know thinking about this a lot and writing songs and things like that.

Phil: So, have you been working on any new instruments, trying to learn anything new?

Taylor: Umm, a little bit here, a little bit there. I've been working on trying to learn a little bit of guitar, but you know that's not exactly... I can play like five chords, but I'm working on it.

(Laughing)

Phil: Yeah, right. It's good to talk to you, man. We'll talk to you soon.

Taylor: Okay, bye.

Phil: That's Taylor Hanson, and I'll talk to Zac about the side project what's happening with the rap act. We'll find out after this.

(Later)

Phil: Back to Part Three of our Hanson interview, and I've got Zac on the line. For the folks that don't know, Zac Hanson and myself are gonna do a side project a rap thing down the track. We've got Isaac here and I've got Zac, Hey buddy, I've been working on trying to get us a contract.

Zac: Oh, cool.

Phil: I hope you're still going to be part of the action.

Zac: Yeah, well you know, I was thinking I not gonna quite be there the whole time.

Phil: Oh, that's cool.

Zac: Yeah, well you know, while you're on tour, I'll come and make some appearances while you're in the States.

Phil: Well, I was thinking you could just call yourself "Zac Daddy" or "Puff Zacky". What do you think?

Zac: Uh, uh, I was thinking "Zacky Boy"

Phil: Zacky Boy. Okay, I like that

Zac: I was thinking, well nobody's really used... everybody's like "Zac Man"

Phil: Well, no one's used boy that's right.

Zac: Or daddy. I was also thinking "Zac Momma".

Phil: "Zacky Momma"

Zac: But, it didn't quite work.

Phil: No, I wouldn't use that, you'll end up on what's his name... Jerry Springer show if you use that name, man.

Zac: It'll be bad.

Phil: Well I was thinking I was going to use MC Tone Deaf, what do you reckon?

Zac: That's a great name!

Phil: Hey, I've been working on that, I don't come up with this stuff flippantly I've been putting a lot of (work?) into this side project.

Zac: Yeah, well you know it takes a while to come up with some good names.

Phil: So, what can you tell me about some of the new songs on the album?

Zac: All I can tell you is I like the songs. Umm, obviously, I think they're good.

Phil: Taylor and Isaac wouldn't give me any clues about it at all. They told me I had to sit down and wait and see, you know.

Zac: Yeah, you're gonna have to wait, man. Some songs have the note "C" in it.

Phil: C note?

Zac: Yeah, C note.

Phil: You know, there's a band called "C Note" now

Zac: There is?

Phil: Yeah?

Zac: Huh.

Phil: So there ya go, you can't use that. What about the Moffatts? Have you heard of them?

Zac: I actually have heard of them.

Phil: There just doing your act, man.

Zac: Yeah, I know... I don't know... I don't know... I haven't actually heard any of their music, so you know better than I do.

Phil: Yeah, while I've checked them out in a video and you guys would win in a fight. That's all I can say.

Zac: Well, thank you

Phil: No problem. Zac, there from Hanson. Hope you got the bits of the interview with Isaac and Taylor so you can put 'em on your tape and listen to them later. They will be here in October. In the meantime, let's get back to the Hits.

Transcript of Yahoo! Chat with Hanson
February 22, 1999

Yahoomc: ok, everybody -- here they are, the three guys from oklahoma -- hanson!

YahooGuest1: Tay: Hey everybody, welcome to the chat!
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Hello everyone! I'm eating cream of broccoli soup right now, and it's very good. Thanks for coming to the Yahoo! Chat
YahooGuest1: Zac: I'm barfing up the soup. hey everyone!

hitz_at_heart asks: Hi Hanson! I love how you are so creative and open to new ideas! I was wondering if you can tell us anything about your upcomming record? Thanks, rock on!! :) -Amanda

YahooGuest1: Taylor: It's hard to know how the next album will be. We're always open to new ideas and new techniques.
YahooGuest1: Hopefully the new album will be something we can all enjoy. We're looking forward to it.

Insane4Tay asks: My name is Kylie, I am from Oakville, Ontario. I think you guys arso great, and I wanted to know when the new CD is going to be coming out?! I am really looking forward to it!!

YahooGuest1: Tay: We're in the process of working on songs, and hopefully we'll get it out by September or October. We want only the best.

Albertane_or_Bust asks: How do you guys feel about Hansonmania being compared to Beatlemania?

YahooGuest1: Tay: It doesn't come close.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Having Beatles and Hanson in the same sentence is an honor.

aLLoYcHicK_16 asks: Do you guys plan on doing a duet with any other singers??

YahooGuest1: Taylor: There are a lot of people we met up with recently. Hopefully they can make some appearances on our next album. Can't give 'em away yet. But we're hoping.

_AngelicOne asks: Hey Isaac, Taylor and Zac! :) Can you tell us a little bit about your performance with Bob Weir? What was it like? :) Jamie and Catie, St. Louis, MO

YahooGuest1: Taylor: For all the Deadheads out there, it was an honor. For anyone unfamiliar with Weir, he is one of the lead players in the Dead. Our management group is crazy about them so we appreciated it. YahooGuest1: Isaac: It was cool to get the opportunity to jam with Bob. We had a lot of fun.

iliv4Hanson asks: do u really like country music????

YahooGuest1: Zac: Country music is not on favorite.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: You can't help listen to it, it's part of the nation. We're more into straight rock. How can you not listen to country music?

Elana128 asks: Are you going to the grammy show?

YahooGuest1: Isaac: We're not going, unfortunately. We'll be in the studio. We'll watch it on TV.

bluesoapsuds asks: Taylor, please clear up this rumor, did you or did you not get an earring?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: I did get an earring. It's the cartiledge piercing. I got it on Valentine's Day in New York.

PolygramPrincess asks: Hey Hanson! If you were stranded on a deserted island with only 3 things what would those 3 things be? - Ashley, 14, Canada

YahooGuest1: Taylor: a boat. Secondly, a cell phone. thirdly, something extremely interesting on the trip from the desert island.
YahooGuest1: zac: First a bigger desert island with a resort. Secondly, a really big cruise boat. Third, I get a large section of beautiful sports cars. With frickin lasers on their heads.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: A guitar. A beautiful girl, and a huge boat.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Because you wouldn't want to be trapped.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: I have a better idea. Instead of a boat, a genie lamp.
YahooGuest1: Zac: A genie only gives you 3 wishes.
YahooGuest1: Isaac; but that's what you need.

az8star asks: What made you deside not to play "Yearbook" and "lucy" on the Albertane Tour??

YahooGuest1: Taylor: When we were performing the songs, those two were particularly hard to perform live. It happened to fall between the cracks though we loved the song. Hopefully we'll be able to play it later.

Blue__Rose14 asks: Hi, guys! When will you make a worldtour? -Therese, 14/f/Sweden

YahooGuest1: Isaac: The world tour....well, it'll probably start after the album comes out.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: We're going to try and hit a lot of places we didn't hit on Albertane. Especially Europe and Australia. Don't know the exact plans.

TOOKIEMAN asks: HAS ALL THE FAME EFFECTED YOUR RELATIONSHIP AS BROTHERS?

YahooGuest1: Isaac: We get along well, actually. With exception of brotherly love....
YahooGuest1: Taylor: We get along reeeally well.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: We argue sometimes, but if you didn't you wouldn't be human.

AngeLKissOfDeath asks: What is your favorite thing to surf when on the net if you have time? You guys rock! christina ohio 15

YahooGuest1: Isaac: Generally, I look up things that are music-related. Also, I always like to check up on the other unofficial Hanson sites to see the rumors floating around!
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Sometimes we check out the auctions to find cool things.
YahooGuest1: Zac: Recently, I've been researching desert-island survival. That's why my answers were layed out perfectly. There's a Hanson auction to check out on auctions.yahoo.com.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: They are autographed posters.
ChatYahoo_Lisa: What's your favorite rumor about yourselves right now?
YahooGuest1: Isaac: To be honest, it's been a while since I last checked 'em out. There were some good ones, but I can't remember them right now!~

Keelen16 asks: who has been the most influential person in your lives?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: Our parents are probably the most influential. That's a hard thing to say.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Zac's Playstation runs a close second.

ringpop2 asks: Will any of your other family members ever going to join you on some recordings?

YahooGuest1: Zac: No! I think that's about it. :)

vicks27 asks: Girlfriends? (Come on the question isn't going away.)

YahooGuest1: Zac: Yes. We all have girlfriends. No, just kidding.

KateJayne1 asks: You have such great (and strange!) senses of humour. Is that more like your mum or dad?!

YahooGuest1: Zac: It comes more from the play off of the three of us. It's all from Chris Farley. We all start getting crazy when we play off of each other. It can get scary.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: We can get carried away.

ITZJulzDuhBoy asks: Hey you guyz! What kind songz do you think will be in the new album? Like more ballad or more rock?

YahooGuest1: Taylor; Just like any album you want to mix it up.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: It's hard to say how it'll turn out, but there'll be a fair amount of both.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: To make it interesting.

az8star asks: Is Taylor or Zac learning guitar??

YahooGuest1: Isaac: I've shown Taylor several chords.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: A little bit. LITTLE!. Definitely working on it.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: There's a big article in Moe, our official fan-club magazine, which will come out soon, that talks about recording process and how it's going. One of the ways to find out about recording process is in the upcoming Moe. And go to www.hansonline.com to sign up and find out more about it.
ChatYahoo_Lisa: here's the url for the hanson auction auctions.yahoo.com/auction/3056287

HansonloverCD asks: which way do you guys prefer to play: acapella or with the set-christine 15,canada

YahooGuest1: Zac: It gets boring fast to do all a capella.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Like everything, it's all in moderation. And if it's all rock, you burn out.

RayJ1234 asks: Coming from a large family, do you guys hope to have big families of your own?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: If we did, we'd have a huge family.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Coming from a large family, can help you want to have a large family. You'll have to talk to our future wives about it.
Yahoomc: What artists have you been listening to lately?
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Lenny Kravitz. Johnny Lang. Lauryn Hill. Go buy it! New Radicals is pretty cool. Others we don't have time to list. New Black Crowes is cool.

call_me_Spudboy asks: Hey, was it really cool doing the skits on Saturday Night Live?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: It was reeeally fun. It was cool to get to be involved in something like that.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: We're hoping for another opportunity to do that. We had a blast.

SarahChristy asks: Are these chats fun for you guys?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: Yeah!
YahooGuest1: Zac: Can't you tell?
YahooGuest1: Taylor: And Yahoo is great!

itz_weird1 asks: Hi... what breed is your adorable puppy, Wickit? -Adri/Toronto

YahooGuest1: Taylor: Wicket is a shietzu, but he actually passed away.

KatyDiana asks: why do you think that magazines, radio, etc. constantly compare you guys to the backstreet boys, the spice girls, and the new kids on the block? do you think the new album will change their opinions about your so-called "bubblegum pop" music?

YahooGuest1: Zac: I don't know why. You can ask them.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: The similarities to us and them are only the fans.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: We put music out and let people hear it. Everyone wants to be recognized in their own light.

HansonsBabe_101 asks: What did you guys think about the guy you met on fanatic?!? (be honest) Stacy-13,MI

YahooGuest1: Isaac: He was reeally cool. A nice guy. We had a lot of off-camera conversation.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: It's always cool to meet that big of a fan.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: He reminded us of things we had done that we'd forgotten.

j_piano123 asks: Hey guys, how are ya'll? My name is Jen and i was wondering what Tay is gonna do for his sweet 16th birthday?? Are you planning on getting your own car?

YahooGuest1: Isaac: It was a cool opportunity to meet that big of a fan.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Well, of course everyone when they're 16 wants a car. It's a hope. There's all sorts of different ideas floating around, but I can't give them away. Hopefully something fun.

HITZ_candycoatedangel asks: Who came up with the idea for the enhanced CD?- Adriana, Jessica and Andrea YahooGuest1: Isaac: Actually, the chat fans did. You did! You Moe members did!

YahooGuest1: Taylor: For those of you don't know, we're putting out a CD that has Boomerang, Rain, and the original version of More Than Anything. This is only for people who sign up for Moe, and renew membership. We thought this would be a cool way to give them something cool.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Go to www.hansonline.com to download sound clips of the songs. There's a whole lot more on there than songs, too.

mmmbopkc asks: HEY I REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHERE ZAC GOT HIS COLOR CHANGING DRUMSTICKS!!!!kristen/14/joplin,mo

YahooGuest1: Zac: They're specially made. Fiber-optic cables. We just had them made.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Different bands have done things like that.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: People have put lasers on the end of drum sticks.
YahooGuest1: Zac: We wanted to do something special.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Zac kept breaking the sticks in half. And they weren't exactly cheap to replace
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Because Zac hits really hard.

ZacsBabe45 asks: Do you guys swear?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: We always try not to.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: It's very very rare that we do.
YahooGuest1: Zac: 1 out of every 40 million words.

Hersheyscandy asks: what do you guys like better your birthday or christmas?

YahooGuest1: Zac: How could you like your birthday more than Christmas unless you're turning 16 where you could possibly get a car. On Christmas you get multiple presents from everyone. On your birthday you get only one from each person.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Birthdays are cool though. I like the mistletoe and all the other Christmas trimmings.

The10000thRose asks: Hey guys! This question is for Isaac... What do you think about Hanson "fan fiction" (the made up stories people post on the web with the 3 of you as the characters)? Have you ever read any of these things?

YahooGuest1: Isaac: We have read several of them. There are so many at this point that it's kind of hard to keep up with them. A lot are creative. We paid attention when they first came out.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: There are some amazing fans out there.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: In Moe, we try to pick out some web sites that are reeeally unique and cool. In every issue, we pick a special site. We try and surf the net to find cool things.

CrystalLove_15 asks: Hey Hanson! Did you guys ever get hit with something a fan threw onstage?!! :-) Renee, Seattle, WA

YahooGuest1: Isaac: I'd like to take this moment to say please don't throw anything. I got clobbered with things before. You'd be surprised how much a Hershey's Kiss can hurt.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Our manager got hit with a bag of jelly beans, and he thought he was bleeding.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Please do not throw hard objects online.
YahooGuest1: Zac: Let's be more general. Don't throw things on stage.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Whenever we sprayed the audience, over time, audience members hit us with guns too. But they couldn't compete with our guns.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: While I'm playing guitar, don't squirt me with water guns. I got electrocuted once.

SuPeRoHeRo_GiRL asks: What is the last album that you guys bought?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: The Black Crowes new album.

itzSARAH_15 asks: Hi Hanson! Can you tell us if you'll be making a new music video? --Sarah

YahooGuest1: Isaac: It won't be for a little while, and we don't know for which song.

LaurelTeixeira asks: Do you guys tell the honest truth when people ask you questions in these chat things?

YahooGuest1: Zac: No, I have never told the truth ever! :) Just kidding.

Cecil_Baxter asks: You travel a lot. Do you ever get homesick, or wish you could just take a break?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: When you're traveling, you get into this pattern of every day a new city. It's always nice to get home and chill out.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: It takes a while to adjust. After being on tour, it takes a while to adjust to being in one place.

AGfrumPGBC asks: Out of all the celebrities you've met, which one were you most starstruck by?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: Playing with Bob Weir was totally awesome.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: It was more just a real honor to play with such a legend. We just enjoyed ourselves so much. Jamming with him...it was a whole cool experience.

BlueEyedAngel13 asks: Hey guys? whats up? anyways, what was the last movie you guys saw??-MaryEllen,Lawton, OK

YahooGuest1: Zac: It's good.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Payback with Mel Gibson.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Not a family movie.

iliv4Hanson asks: have u guys ever wanted to Bungie jump at all or sky dive or n e thing like that????

YahooGuest1: Taylor: We thought about it.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: My friends and I thought that for our 18th birthday thought we should all go skydiving. I think we chickened out though. Not planning on it at the moment.

POC45 asks: Do you guys do any sort of vocal exercises before performing? Mine never work, so if so, what are they? Elyse, Ohio

YahooGuest1: Isaac: We do warm ups before a show. You find that if you don't do it, you can't survive the show. The warm up is an important part of singing. Vocal technique is important too.

TaysPsychedelicChair asks: Ike; what is your fav type of guitar? <3always Mitzy, CT

YahooGuest1: Isaac: Gibson Les Paul. I have four. Those are my favorites. I brought them all on tour with me. I play a Taylor 8-10 Acoustic. I have two of those on tour with me. You can also find out about our tour at the Gibson plant in the most recent issue of Moe.

junkits3 asks: tay what the story behind your braid??

YahooGuest1: Taylor: A long time ago, it was in style to wear those things. By the way it came halfway down my back, I couldn't cut it. I guess it became a style statement. We'd like to say hello from people in Argentina, Brazil and Australia!

FlyGyrl106 asks: Do you ask celebrities you've met for their autographs or for photo with them?

YahooGuest1: Taylor: once in a while. It depends on situation. If I wouldn't want to be asked it, I don't.
YahooGuest1: Isaac: On the new Johnny Lang album, we loved it. We went to his concert, and met him. We had met him before, and we were seeing him again, so I asked him to sign the album.

GibsonGuitarGrrrl asks: What was your fave venue from The Albertane Tour? Cause Red Rocks Rocked! Michelle/16

YahooGuest1: Isaac: It did rock! That was a very cool show for us, also. Every city was different. Hollywood bowl was cool.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: Shoreline in San Francisco was also really fun and cool.

More_Than_Anything_Angel asks: Do you guys write a lot of poetry, if so would you consider releasing a book of it, like Jewel did?

YahooGuest1: Isaac: Poetry are songs without music. The poetry we write is musical poetry. That's probably what we'll stick with.

Tay_wants_me asks: What is one of the happiest memories you have had in your lives so far? ~Jessie, FL

YahooGuest1: Taylor: Doing the chat with you fans! YahooGuest1: Zac: When I got my motorcycle.
YahooGuest1: Isaac; Living life is my favorite moment.
YahooGuest1: Zac: That moment hasn't ended yet!
YahooGuest1: Isaac: Don't forget to check out www.hansonline.com to check out the CD.
YahooGuest1: Taylor: If you want to win a signed guitar, also go to Hansonline. It's reeeally cool!

December 22nd 1998

ChatYahoo_Lisa: Hanson is Here! We're about to get started!

Yahoo_HANSON: Taylor: Hey everybody, welcome to the chat! Let's get this thing started.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Hey, the feeling's mutual.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Hello all!

Sweet16_Michelle asks: Do you feel that music is changing back to Alternative or staying more towards the Pop/Rock?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: I don't think you can ever predict where music is going. You've got Imbruglia who is very pop, and Hole, etc. that are much more rock. So we have many things happening now, at the top of the charts.

jncoJen asks: hey guys! any plans to make a video for any of your christmas songs? - mpls, mn

Yahoo_HANSON: T: I think a Christmas song tends to come back year after year, or at least you hope so, so our options are open.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: But we haven't made one for this year.

zing20 asks: Who is u'r fav character in Star Wars.....I have heard many different things!

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Luke, everybody!
Yahoo_HANSON: Luke.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Han Solo, Chewbacca.

ITZROMO asks: Hanson thanks for the great music!!!!

Yahoo_HANSON: T: We love 'em all , we're big fans. Thanks for coming today, and for being great fans!
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Because you're awesome!

Janeway_ asks: What was it like being on Melrose place?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: It's a lot different than you'd think it would be, it's not exactly a place, it's a studio, without much of a vibe.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Heather Locklear is very nice, we've met her several times.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: It's always good to try new things and different things. It was something new for us.

NightFire99 asks: Do you think that you are more creative on the road or at home when writing songs? What things inspire you?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Right now we're in the middle of writing a lot of new songs for the next album. A lot of them were inspired by the road, travelling, some when we're relaxing at home. That's why the songs are different, and that's what makes an album and a band versatile.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: I don't think any one place is more inspirational than another.

Tays_10000_Roses asks: Do you have plans to make a video for Gimme Some Lovin?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Not at the moment.

mmmSamantha asks: So what are your New Year's resolutions?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: I've said this many times, but I'll say it again, I won't die!
Yahoo_HANSON: T: I would definitely have to agree with Zac, that's a good thing to start with. You just hope for a good year.
Yahoo_HANSON: Zac: That I won't be killed by a nuclear bomb! Yahoo_HANSON: I: You know, I'd have to say, I'm just going to say that the record goes along very well.

vampireslayer_2000 asks: What was the last movie you saw? and what movie do you want to see right now?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: The last movie we saw was Prince of Egypt.
Yahoo_HANSON: Enemy of the State looks good, A Bugs Life is supposed to be good.
Yahoo_HANSON: There's a lot of movies out, but that's what on our mind.

threehansonboyz asks: What was your reaction when you first heard that they wanted you to contribute songs to the movie Jack Frost?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Like we were saying, it's cool to try different things, and to be on a soundtrack is something new, and to hear your music behind different scenes is very cool.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: It was interesting because we got to see early cuts of the movie when there were scenes missing, it's an interesting process.
Yahoo_HANSON: It's a lot like making the long form video we made, in little pieces, coming into its final shape.

Nadroj314 asks: Hey there Hanson this is Brooke. I have to say You guys are AWESOME! And my question is Do you guys have an innie or and outtie belly button??

Yahoo_HANSON: T: We're pretty normal overall! We're all innies, that I remember - one second - let me check - Yup!!

TayMakesMyDayDaBest asks: What kinda food freaks you guys out?? LOL

Yahoo_HANSON: T: I think anything that's raw, like when you eat, besides certain vegetables, raw fish, sushi, steak tartar, when we were in France, one of the people got reallly sick from it.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: In case anyone doesn't know what steak tartar is -- it's raw meat!

tsukino_yume asks: Do you guys have any special Christmas traditions?~~Angela, Griffith, IN

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: For a long time, we always had a small, plastic fake tree, but the last few years we've gotten real trees, and this year it';s 13 1/2 feet tall, it was a real feat getting it decorated and to stand up straight!

lovinHanson4ever asks: Hi this is Juline from Toronto, Canada. What's your favorite music video of other artists?

Yahoo_HANSON: I: Hmmm. Oh yeah, we like the Third Eye Blind video, Jumper, and also Everclear, Father of Mine.

JugheadJr asks: Taylor, what is your favorite thing to get at McDonald's?!?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Something not from McDonalds!
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: For all you McDonald's lovers - never mind. We're not huge McDonalds fans, but it does show up everywhere, so its something you are used to, so you can't go wrong.

HurricaneHanson asks: What are your favorite songs of the moment?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: I'm trying to think. Umm, man...
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We can list off a bunch.

Baby_Bird_1440 asks: What has been the hardest thing for you to adjust to on the road?

Yahoo_HANSON: It's hard.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: In the buses, there are really comfortable beds, but you feel like you're in a coffin.
Yahoo_HANSON: Sometimes you wake up facing the wall, it's like, oh my gosh.
Yahoo_HANSON: BUt I think travelling sometimes can just get on your nerves; on the other hand we enjoy travelling quite a bit, but you know there are down sides to everything.

HHMB_WSA asks: How do you guys feel about web pages being made about your siblings?- Salt Lake City Utah Yahoo_HANSON: Z: We love to see all the sites, there are tons of them out there, some of them are amazingly creative.
Yahoo_HANSON: So it's great to see how you guys interpret the band and see the music.

twinkie_jess asks: Hey guys! I'm in D.C. I went to your concert here- it rocked! I just received my first issue of MOE- it's awesome! Anyway, what's this about a "special prize" you may receive if you subscribe to it?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: It's cool that you asked that. We can't reveal all the details yet. There is a special project that we are working on, for people that are part of MOE, but the details will be available on hansonline.com in January.
Yahoo_HANSON: Look for those, it's very, very cool. We are looking forward to seeing how you respond to it.

java_girl_2000 asks: Taylor what instrument do you like better?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Well, I'm best at playing piano, so I guess you could say that's my favorite. But I would like to learn harmonica and more guitar, but we'll see what happens.
Yahoo_HANSON: We all like to grow and learn as many instruments as possible.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: The more instruments you can play, the better, it's fairly obvious.

Snow_Wish_15 asks: What's your favorite Christmas song? Yahoo_HANSON: T: I don't think we have one favorite. On the Christmas album, Snowed In, we did a lot of songs that were our favorites, songs like, Run, Run Rudolph
Yahoo_HANSON: Merry Christmas Baby, and classics like Silent Night. Plus some original songs. But I don't think we have one, we are Christmas fans, as most people are, tis the Season to be Jolly!

allsmiles1214 asks: Any one of you guyz can answer this question! What do you look for in a girlfriend???????

Yahoo_HANSON: T: First of all, that's she's a girl (Sarcasm!)
Yahoo_HANSON: BUt besides that, I don't see how you can say what the perfect girl is, until you meet that person. Someone you have fun with and like to hang out with.
Yahoo_HANSON: It's pretty obvious...

Surfeysista asks: If you knew that the world was going to end tomorrow, what would you do today?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: I would be doing exactly what I'm doing right now. Because I am talking to tons and tons of people before the world ended.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: I would probably get a girlfriend, get engaged - and basically elope.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Basically, you know, grab all your parents credit cards, spend all the money, everything you always wanted to do, steal things, you know!
Yahoo_HANSON: Of course, that would be if the world was ending!
Yahoo_HANSON: T: And then you'd find out that the world isnt really ending, and you have all this useless stuff, and you're in jail!~

ITZalabamaFAN asks: Hey Hanson! Do you go Christmas caroling?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: We haven't done it in a long time, but we have done it before. Mmmbople asks: How did you get the name Wickit for your dog?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Wickit is a character from Star Wars, the first Ewok that Princess Leah met, it had the same face.
Yahoo_HANSON: But to get technical, actually Wickit was a boy and our Wickit is a girl. But she's very cute.

Jordi_35 asks: Did you encounter any problems on the Albertane tour ? (Leah 16 & Jessica 13 Australia)

Yahoo_HANSON: I: No real problems. There were technical difficulties from time to time at the shows, because that' s the way it is.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: A couple of times we slipped from the water guns, or things like that.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: One time I missed the riser when I was going to jump, and I ripped my pants@!

TaraGirl12 asks: What are the weirdest rumors you've heard about yourselves?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: There is the Isaac has a glass eye rumour. It's not true!
Yahoo_HANSON: I: I got a real kick out of it! I could take it out, but a different one in...
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Just crazy stuff, people we're dating, that we're not dating...
Yahoo_HANSON: Or, that we're dating a Spice Girl or something like that!

kdodi asks: What is your Christmas Wish to all of your fans?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: As always, -- we wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We love all the fans, you guys, and really appreciate having fans and continuing making music.
Yahoo_HANSON: SO our wish would be that you guys continue to enjoy it. And of course, that you guys have a happy, happy holiday season.

AwesomeMmmbop asks: I think you guys have the best senses of humor! Who are you more like? Your mother or you father?

Yahoo_HANSON: ALL: OOO.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: We're more like our father in the "male" part, because we are guys!
Yahoo_HANSON: T: A little of both. Our dad was always a bit of goofball in high school, and our mom was always go with anything, and fun loving.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: I'm not as much as a goofball as Taylor. And Isaac sometimes frightens us all!
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We have no problem dissing each other, it's a brotherly love thing!

HnsnRocks asks: Hi Hanson! My name is Christine and I live in CA...my question is: Ike, what was it like when you got your top braces off??

Yahoo_HANSON: I: It sounded like this, rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnngggggggg, they took my braces!!! It was very cool, I was happy to get them off, I'd had them on for 3 1/2 years. And it feels really good!
Yahoo_HANSON: Now the trick is keeping track of your retainer, which I have almost lost 15 or 20 times in the last month.

CoWs__MoO asks: Do you guys go looking for presents your parents hide ... eh hum... Santa hides or do you wait to be surprised?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: First of all, we sometimes go looking for presents, sometimes not. Usually we trade off, who goes off and gets them....
Yahoo_HANSON: I: I'll be honest, I did NOT the last couple of years, I held myself back, I said Surprise is good...

Loopy4Ike_Loopy4Tay_Loopy4Zac asks: Who is more weird at home?

Yahoo_HANSON: I: We all take turns. Very seriously, we do take turns...
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Loopy, loopy, loopy! jessie118 asks: Do you play practical jokes on each other? philly pa

Yahoo_HANSON: I: Not really, sometimes though. We have a sense of humor.
Yahoo_HANSON: A sick sense of humor sometimes, I guess.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: You know like dropping a water balloon on someone's head when its 15 degrees out. It's mean but we do that sometimes.

tsukino_yume asks: Do your fans usually interpret your personalities correctly, or are we way off?~Angela, IN

Yahoo_HANSON: I: FOr the most part, they've interpreted it fairly correctly, however, there are definitely misinterpretations along with them.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: A lot of time, it's ballpark, but there are things the fans haven't caught onto yet.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Which doesn't really matter, things you wouldn't know unless you really knew us...

Astro_138 asks: What does your room look LIKE? Any posters on the walls? (Cornwall, Canada)

Yahoo_HANSON: I: No posters on the wall, never been big poster people.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: THe three of us are in the same small room.
Yahoo_HANSON: It's kind of weird, we always end up being squashed in there.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We spend most of our time outside our room, it's mainly for sleeping.
Yahoo_HANSON: Drawers, chest, beds...

ElleBelle5 asks: When do you guys plan on releasing a new album? AL/USA

Yahoo_HANSON: T: RIght now we're in the middle of writing new songs, and demo-ing the songs.
Yahoo_HANSON: Mainly so we can get a good idea of where your're going with the song.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Once this album comes out, which I imagine will be late summer next year, after that we'll be touring all around the world.
Yahoo_HANSON: We will go to Australia, South America, Asia, and also again in the United States.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: And we're really looking forward to that.

NightFire99 asks: What other types of artistic things do you enjoy?

Yahoo_HANSON: I: We're all artists, Taylor and Zac are much better than I am. But computer-wise I enjoy doing art on the computer. We all designed the MOE logo and the tour logo, but I did it on the computer.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: Zack and I doodle and draw on almost anything we can find, and Isaac goes on the internet and does amazing things.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We have a link from our website to the Yahoo Chat, so thanks to all the Yahoo Hanson Club Members.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: Thanks for making the club reach 10,000 members. Hopefully, we can look forward to more in the future. You guys rock!

AlbertaneForever asks: What happened to the song 'cried'?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: When you are working on a album like right now, we have 25 or more songs that you are putting down ideas on, Cried was one of those that didn't end up on the album, and actually recorded it, but it just didn't come out.
Yahoo_HANSON: It became a B Side on the I Will Come To You single.

pachy_99 asks: Happy Holidays!! I was wondering what´s the best part of having achieved your dream and being able to do what you love the most all the time?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: Happy holidays to you too. You know, that sounds really awesome, when you phrase it like that. We've had a ton of fun making music since we started out, and we're just continuing to enjoy it.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: And it's thanks to you that we are able to continue doing it, so we hope you continue to enjoy it so we can continue to make it. Hey there everybody in the chat. We wanted to let you know that you can join our fanclub MOE thru our website, hansonline.com. You can sign up for our club at hansonline.com , and we're working on the fourth issue of the magazine right now. If you want to check it out, it has all kinds of exclusive articles and information for MOE members.

billyjf asks: Does anybody treat you normal anymore?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: We're not stars, so if people try to treat us that way, we have to remind them that we're not.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Anyone that is your friend doesn't treat you differently. You wouldn't hang out with anyone who treated you differently, it's annoying.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: We're normal - as far as we know!

scoots17_98 asks: Scoots from Dallas wants to know if you are performing anywhere for New Years?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: It's possible, New Years is awefully close, but probably not. We'll probably have our annual Hanson New Years bash which we always throw if we're not performing.

PeePoleWitnesses asks: Hey Zac in the tour video, did you actually draw the roses?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Yes.
Yahoo_HANSON: That was not a paint by number.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Our dad thought it was a paint by number when he saw it. It was not.

NICE12CHATWITH asks: What is your favorite t.v. show?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: One we kind of like that you know, is That Seventies Show, it's pretty funny. Yahoo_HANSON: And Friends, South Park, also Space Ghost Coast to Coast, it's really pretty hilarious, it's on Cartoon Network at 11 at night. Yahoo_HANSON: I: We're actually going to be on an episode soon, we hope. Yahoo_HANSON: Z: It's pretty strange but really awesome. Yahoo_HANSON: The cartoon is from the sixties.

TaylorFan4Life asks: How do you feel when you see girls crying at concerts?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: We send someone down to clear whatever it is from their eye!
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We say, are we that bad!
Yahoo_HANSON: T: We're definitely nothing to cry over, that's for sure!

tizzykitty asks: When was the last time you built a snowman? TN

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: We live in Oklahoma, And in Oklahoma you usually don't get enough show to build a snowman.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: But when there is enough snow, we build castles and stuff. WE love the snow!

hansonfan14402 asks: Is it hard to make a music video?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: It depends on the video. I wouldn't say any of them are hard, but I would say there are some tedious parts to them. If it's a long shoot, or difficult parts, it can be tedious and time consuming.

lolipop8 asks: Do you open your gifts on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day?

Yahoo_HANSON: Zack: Both!
Yahoo_HANSON: T: Christmas Day, really.
Yahoo_HANSON: For the really close Hanson family, which is still quite a few people, with seven kids, so nine in total.

HITZ_addict asks: Do you like watching scary movies? ~ Chrissy 13 argentina

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Some scary movies are really fun, especially when you have lots of friends that are really freaking out about them.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We have some friends that are terrified by scary movies..
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: And that's what makes it so fun!

HanSync13 asks: Would you ever like to work with any other music artists in the future?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: On the next album we're getting really close to being in the studio, and we're trying to work with different artists, artists we're fans of, we won't say their names yet, but people you are fans of, people talented instrumentally and people we admire, but we have different artists we are looking forward to working with.

Only14Tay asks: What was the coolest thing that has happened this year for you all?

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: The coolest thing was that I turned 13. Actually that's a lie. I don't feel any different, but I guess that was cool.
Yahoo_HANSON: We had a little baby sister, and she's really cute. Almost a year ago,
Yahoo_HANSON: I: We enjoy her company very much! And for me, turning 18 was probably one of the cool things, I had a great birthday party.
Yahoo_HANSON: T: We travelled a lot, saw new places and worked on new music, on the live video and live album was a lot of fun.
Yahoo_HANSON: It's always cool to get to do creative things on projects like that.

PeePoleWitnesses asks: Do you remember any of the people you met backstage?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: It's hard to remember everybody because there's a lot of different people, but in different cities, there are people you remember. Yahoo_HANSON: I: Why exactly you remember them it's hard to say. Yahoo_HANSON: T: After you see them five or six times, it begins to click. Some fans are really devoted, and it just makes it more fun for us.

Baby_Byrd7 asks: When is the next issue of Moe coming out?

Yahoo_HANSON: T: That will probably be in a couple of months. Probably February I think.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Done and mailed out. Everyone should get it by February.
Yahoo_HANSON: That could change.

Hanson_gurlie asks: How did you choose the songs to do in concert?-Kelsy,14,OR

Yahoo_HANSON: I: Whatever songs we feel like playing.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: In concert we play every song off Middle of Nowhere. Then we had to select different songs off Three Car Garage to play.
Yahoo_HANSON: Some songs don't come off as well in a live performance. So it comes down to that, and see if you want to do any covers. We tend to do several throughout the tour.

Zern10 asks: What amazing things does Ike do on theinternet??

Yahoo_HANSON: I: I don't know! Like I said before, we came up with the MOE logo and the tour logo, and then I created them on the computer.
Yahoo_HANSON: Z: It's not so much that he's in internet crazy psycho, but the computer.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: Z and T are much better than me freehand.

raymay52 asks: What's up next for you guys? Rachel-SchertzTX

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Hopefully there will be many chats to come. And of course, the next album which we are working on.
Yahoo_HANSON: There is a live album and a live video, and of course, the Christmas Album is in stores.
Yahoo_HANSON: And next year, some new music, and playing shows.
Yahoo_HANSON: And also, for anybody in MOE, if you want to check out, if you go to hansonline.com we need your emails.
Yahoo_HANSON: I: If you want to be on an exclusive MOE email list, check out the MOE members center, go to http://hansonline.com/inthemoe.html

Yahoo_HANSON: Z: Happy New Year!
ChatYahoo_Lisa: Thanks for joining us! Have a wonderful holiday season! Bye!

January 13, 1999 DModerator: Welcome everyone! Thanks for joining us today! As you've probably noticed, Radio Disney's caught Hanson Fever... ...and it's CON-TA-GIOUS! Not only has the Radio Disney website launched Hanson Headquarters... the COOLEST place online where you can read and hear the on-air interview Hanson did on Radio Disney listen to a clip from Hanson's new album "Live from Albertane" and download photos of the guys! AND (if THAT weren't enough) Radio Disney is winding down their Jam With Hanson sweepstakes where one lucky kid will be whisked away for a private one hour music lesson with the guys themselves! How cool is THAT? Seriously cool, that's how cool. But I'm sure you're tired of my yakkin'! You're here to talk to Hanson so let's give 'em to ya! Please welcome Zachary, Taylor and Isaac! Thanks for joining us today!

Isaac: This is Hanson, everybody...are you ready to talk!
Taylor: Hey Everybody!
Zachary: Hey!!
Zachary smiles.

guest-myvw says: Who writes most of the great songs you sing??

Taylor: All three of us write all the songs
Taylor: sometimes one person starts one, and then the other finishes
Taylor: Really, all three of us help out in the songs we write

guest-brak_zorak_spaceg says: Do you guys ever look back at old tapes and think 'woah we've have gotton so far'?

Isaac: I think sometimes you laugh at the old stuff
Isaac: and even though that is old stuff you say that's where it all began
Isaac: so it's funny to look back.

DModerator: tiftay4 asks Do you like playing old cover tunes or your own songs best?

Taylor: This summer on tour we played all types of different things
Taylor: We tried some old songs... like Gimme Some Lovin, Magic Carpet Ride... songs we really liked alot
Taylor: Songs we were really in to .
Isaac: We played a lot of old songs that we were really into like
Isaac: "Sunshine of Your Love" "Shake Your Tail Feather"
Taylor: It's definitely fun to play our own songs...and see the fans recognizing them ...that's definitely alot of fun
Isaac: we pretty much like to play our songs but Isaac: we like to play the old ones too.

iluvhanson17 says: hanson im amanda 17yr old from tennessee i would like to know what inspired you to wright the song weird??

Isaac: We wrote the song with Desmond Child
Isaac: we were just sitting in the house where we were staying in L.A.
Isaac: and we realized no one wrote a song called, "The Weird"
Isaac: so we wrote the chorus and went from there.
Zachary: We thought it's weird how no one has written a song about the word "weird"
Zachary: But it was definitely a song that was inspiritational... We finished the whole song in one night... and when thing happen that fast...
Zachary: It's pretty cool. Zachary smiles.

guest-deviledangel007 says: We know your parents are talented musically as well, is there any possibility of either of them making a guest appearence on an album of yours, atleast on background vocals?

Taylor: OUr parents are definitely musical and I guess they have to be for us to be this musical
Zachary: Whoever gave us that question....
Taylor: I don't think they'll be involved, but they've been extremely supportive.
Zachary: I would like to congratulate you.. because it's the first time we've ever been asked that.
Zachary smiles.

guest-louise1440 says: will there be anyone apart from you guys appearing on the new album?

Isaac: We have relationships with several people along the way,
Isaac: it's possible, but I can't say for sure right now.

guest-molly4114 says: Are "Ever Lonely" and "More Than Anything" on "Live from Albertane" new songs or have they just not been recorded until now? -Molly 13 Atlanta

Taylor: More than anything was a song on our independent records....
Isaac: "Ever lonely" was a song that we had written a long time ago
Taylor: we decided to put it on the tour because we kept playing it
Isaac: that we played back in bars a long time ago Isaac: and we demoed and almost put it on, "Middle of Nowhere"

ltjg_roundbop says: as a well known popgroup, young in age, what adive would you give to a group thats just starting out, with little epquiment and no moey to work with? were all around you 3's age. and were really intrested in your music. in fact, u guys inspired us to let our talents show through!

Taylor: Almost everyone starts out exacty like that...
Taylor: So there is hope!
Zachary: Everyone... including us.
Isaac: Defenite in our case too.
Taylor: The one thing I can say is work your butt off...
Taylor: You're definitely headed in the right direction.
Taylor smiles.
Isaac: Just keep working at it, if you really love it
Isaac: you need to keep at it because you never know what could happen.
Taylor: The live performance version is a new recording

DModerator: We have a pre-submitted question from the Hanson Headquarters...

DModerator: alin4hitz asks Is Ever Lonely in it's original form on the Live From Albertane album or was it changed for the Albertane Tour?

Isaac: This is the very first version ever recorded.
Taylor: That was the first version that had ever been recorded
Taylor: It is new ...
Taylor: We had always played it in local gigs, but the first time it was recorded.

guest-mmmbopn_babe says: Hey! this is Patti from Haliburton Ontario and I was wondering if it's true that Taylor's learning how to play the harmonica?? If it is, then cool! Are you going to do solos on the next tour? ;)

Taylor: I'm still learning to do new things on the keyboard... but no plans to learn the harmonica
Isaac: The thing about the harmonica is that you can just
Zachary: The thing I like about the harmonica is the fact that you can just pick it up and play it... but..
Taylor: Playing well is definitely the key
Zachary: It's very hard to pick it up and play it WELL.
Isaac: pick it up and play it, but the key is playing it WELL.
Zachary grins..

guest-tayzchic says: Which tour did you like best, the Albertane tour, or the first one?

Taylor: The Albertane tour was the first concert tour we had done with the band
Isaac: You do gigs in Tulsa and surrounding areas in Kansas and Texas
Isaac: but doing it across the country it really, really cool.
Isaac: So that tour was great.

jessica1084 says: Do you ever get nervous while performing on stage?

Zachary: I'm sorry... that doesn't happen.
Zachary grins..
Taylor: Definitely when you first start out, you have a few butterflies when you're going on stage
Taylor: When you go onstage, that's all you're thinking about
Taylor: Nervous doesn't really come into the picture

guest-khristin7 says: did you change the style of your new music?

Isaac: Defenitely.
Taylor: I think defitley that if you heard one song on a record and then heard it live
Taylor: When you hear those two records, there's definitley a transition
Taylor: When you get older, voices change...and there is that difference
Taylor: Hopefully it's hasn't gotten that different

guest-chrisl says: How did Zach decide to play the drums?

Zachary: Well, there wasn't really much left to play!
Zachary: I could play.. the harmonica, the piano or drums..
Zachary: There was no choice as far as I am concerned.
Zachary: Not like I wanted to play the kazoo! :)
Isaac: We thought a kazoo solo would be perfect in the middle of a song!
Taylor: -)
Isaac laughs Zachary laughs.

guest-itzgirlie says: Hey guyz! What is your most memorable moment from a performance?

Zachary ponders.
Taylor: I don't think there is one single moment... there are different shows you remember
Taylor: Some of the early shows... like from The Blue Rose Cafe...
Taylor: we were standing out by the dumpster...because we couldn't get into the bar
Taylor: Memorable shows included Red Rock...shows like that
Isaac: But being on tour and seeing people everyday
Isaac: from places you had never been before
Isaac: was one of the most memorable moments for me.

guest-steph_moegirl says: Have you guys ever gone back to play at The Blue Rose Cafe? (After becoming famous?)

Isaac: We thought about it, but
Isaac: I don't know
Isaac: but if we did decide to do it
Isaac: we wouldn't tell anybody beforehand.
Taylor: It would probably be one of those show up and see what happens for memory's sake type of things.
Taylor: We might try it one of these days.

DModerator: Nat_wow asked at the HAnson Headquarters: "Is it true Isaac is writing a sci-fi story?"

Isaac: No, actually I've run in to that question quite a lot,
Isaac: but it's not true.
Isaac: In an old interview I said something about writing a story
Isaac: and it got translated into
Isaac: that I was writing a science fiction novel.
Taylor: If you guys want to check out the Hanson site...go to hansonline.com [Ed: URL Corrected] and everything that is Hanson should be there
Isaac: If you want to find out more about Hanson

DModerator: And don't forget to swing by Hanson Headquarters at the Radio Disney website!!! It's amazing!

Isaac: Hey, guys listen to Radio Disney for a chance to win
Isaac: a private music lesson with us.
Zachary smiles.

DModerator: and speaking of music lessons...guest-wacforzac says: Hey how are you guys? Anyway, I got a drum set for Christmas, and I have no lessons what so ever, I just really thought the drums were awesome. So Zac, I heard you self taught yourself because you are left handed, is this true? And do you have any advice for me so I can get better?

Zachary: Hm... the only advice really would be is to take a few lessons and just play.
Zachary: The only real way to get better is to play often.
Zachary: If you work at it... you'll get better.

guest-fruitydudi says: You guys did quite a few covers on your tour this summer. Any songs you would love to do that you didn't get around to?

Taylor: There are lots of great songs out there that we would still enjoy playing
Taylor: Once you're on tour, you'll enjoy playing new and old songs
Taylor: When we're on tour , you never know what we'll be playing exactly
Isaac: Like we said, being on tour
Isaac: gives you the opportunity to play songs that you didn't put on the album
Isaac: lots of cover songs...
Isaac: that you really like.

guest-stargirl11 says: What did you learn from being on tour?

Zachary: One thing that I learned is that...
Zachary: Sleeping in a bus bed... you wake up with your face stuck to the wall!
Zachary: It's pretty scary!
Taylor: Just from traveling, you get used to having room service, being in a hotel
Taylor: changing cities...
Isaac: It takes you a little to get used to being in one place.
Taylor: When you get a chance to go home...you think .. "wait...shouldn't we be leaving?"
Taylor: It's strange to get used to just one place

DModerator: From the Hanson Headquarters: hansonhead asks: Are you going to release any singles from Live At Albertane?

Taylor: We don't have any plans to release singles from thart
Taylor: Right now we're working on songs and getting ready for the New album

guest-taysasweetie says: Hi Hanson, will you be doing a world tour after the new album is finished?

Isaac: Yes, we will be doing a tour
Isaac: definitely more extensive than the last tour
Isaac: we would like to go to Europe and to all
Isaac: of you online from Australia
Taylor: There are a lot of non confirmed dates...but looking forward to playing a lot more shows
Isaac: we would like to get there too!
Taylor smiles.

guest-_caz_nosnah_ says: What is your new cd going to be like?? What songs are going to be on it?

Zachary: It will be very likeable. :)
Isaac: It's really hard to describe music
Isaac: over the internet.
Taylor: I think it's hard to predict how an album is going to turn out
Taylor: We've been looking forward to getting to the studio again...for all you fans out there
Isaac: We can't wait to hear your feedback when it does come out!

guest-jb-1 says: how do u put so much energy in to your concerts?

Taylor: I think the only way to do a concert is to put every part of you into it
Isaac: I agree with that!
Taylor: Sometimes you can wear yourself out on the show... if you haven't worn yourself out...you've done something wrong
Isaac: Definitely!

guest-nadia says: Hi! I'm from Argentina, there' a rumor here that says that you'e coming here the 14 of February, is that true?

Isaac: NOT TRUE, we are not on tour at the moment
Isaac: we're working on the new record
Isaac: the new tour will come after the record is done.
Taylor: Argentina and all through South America has been so supportive
Taylor: We're looking forward to going there once the album comes out

guest-itzpam says: what does it feel like to have so many fans look up to you and idol you?

Taylor: Of course the only way you can continue to do music and go out there and play it
Zachary: We love you guys!
Taylor: I don't think it's about fans idolizing you .,...but it's about fans being enthusiastic abou it

guest-itz says: How do you think of your songs? Zachary ponders.

Zachary: Usually a song is named by a chorus... or a word in the song.
Zachary: There's no real answer for writing a song.
Zachary: You could write a whole song in thirty minutes.
Zachary: And it may take you an entire year to come with one.
Zachary: Each of us is envolved in writing a song...
Zachary: But there's no real way to predict how it's going to happen.
Isaac: You could look at something as weird as stained glass
Zachary: Songs can be inspired from just about anything.
Isaac: and come up with a song about something comepletely different.

guest-itzjamie says: Where were you swimming at in Road to Albertane? (what city)

Zachary: I believe they are in cincinnati.
Taylor: I believe we're in Cincinatti at a water park...an awesome water park!
Zachary: There was this awesome water park!
Zachary: Had a really big pooool.
Zachary: Once in a while, we would hop into golf carts.. and ride around in em...
Zachary: And then we would hit the water park after hours... it was a blast.
Zachary grins..

guest-tay14 says: Hi guys I was wondering how do u like your music better,on the cd,live or in the studio? thanks Heather,15,Canton,Ohio

Taylor: It depends if we're talking about writing it, playing it, or just listening
Taylor: Playing live is really, really fun because of the fans
Isaac: You're coming up with a song because
Taylor: Recording is fun...creative ...
Isaac: first you write it and when you record it's an extension of the writing
Taylor: It's all in pulling it together
Isaac: you pull it together adding as you go
Isaac: they're totally different things
Isaac: you bring it all together and you're excited as the end.
Taylor: You're very excited about it...but then stop listening to your own records... it feels kind of strange to do that
Taylor: Those are all key parts of being a band...the playing, writing ... listening
Taylor: -)

guest-amigo says: What would you guys say is your biggest acheivement, as far as following your dreams goes, in the last year?

Isaac: Just being the band
Isaac: it wouldn't necessarily call it a dream...well...
Isaac: I guess we have been following our dream!

DModerator: Remember gang, you can follow YOUR dreams by tuning in to Radio Disney
DModerator: and finding out about the Jam With Hanson sweepstakes
DModerator: where a lucky listener will be scooped up
DModerator: and deposited with Hanson
DModerator: for a private one hour music lesson with Los Bros Hanson!
DModerator: And calling all New Yorkers!
DModerator: You can now hear radio Disney at AM 1560!
DModerator: So tell mom and dad to set the car stereo tunings now!
DModerator: And now back to the brothers!

guest-godzilata says: How much time do you spend singing and playing music per day, approximately?

Zachary: You know... you never know..
Zachary: A lot of times.. when we were playing for the tour..
Zachary: We were playing four or five hours a day.
Taylor: Most of the time there isn't a real normal day...so it's hard to say how much you get to play
Taylor: As Zach was saying ...right now we're recording ..so we spend a lot of time with our music

guest-bubbles1440 says: I know it's hard to predict the future but do you guys think you're gonna be more into pop, or more into rock in the future?

Taylor: Pop originally meant just popular music...it's hard to label what it will sound like...it's up to the fans

DModerator: From the Hanson Headquarters: Aaron T. asks if a superstar like Barbara Streisand asked you to do a duet, would you go for it?

Taylor: I think there are so many awesome artists like Barbra and people we're fans of ...that we get to work with ...to throw out ideas with ...
Taylor: Hopefully we'll get to work with many in the future.

guest-chels_1440 says: I was just wondering, why didn't you guys include any songs from Boomerang on Three Car Garage? -- Chelsea, 16, WA

Taylor: When we were deciding to let the fans hear a lot of the older music... we had to decide whether or not to go back to Boomerang
Taylor: What's happening.... is that we have a fan club called MOE ...
Taylor: You can find out more about that at hansonline.com
Isaac: Right now there's an issue coming out
Isaac: that says what the CD is all about
Isaac: if you're a member of MOE.
Taylor: Get this special CD ... it will have songs from Boomerang ...
Isaac: Check out FANCLUB on our website for the details...

guest-sheridanpayne says: have you three ever thought of doing a remix of a certain song?

Taylor: We've had all types of different remixes ... the singles we've released off The Middle Of Nowhere ...
Taylor: it's always cool to do that to a song ...to give it a different vibe...
Taylor: usually you do that for a radio or new release
Taylor: Hopefully there will be many of those coming in the future
Taylor: -)

guest-heatherizinmoe says: How long did it take you guys to put the Albertane Tour together?- Heather, 13 Pittsburgh, PA

Zachary ponders.
Zachary: As far as just preparing for anything..
Zachary: It takes a long time.
Zachary: We have to design the set.... we have to make the set..
Zachary: There are a lot of factors.
Zachary: It takes a while... I think several months.
Zachary: But with any project... there's always a lot of time and thought that goes into it.

taysalbertanechic asks what the weirdest rumor you guys have ever heard about yourselves?

Taylor: There are so many rumours that get circulated about dating people ...about buying extravagant cars...etc... all kinds of rumours have come up
Zachary: Well... a couple months ago... I heard a rumor about me... I heard that I was dead.
Zachary: That was wild!
Zachary grins.

DModerator_2: Guys, it looks we've run out of time for today's chat. :-(

Taylor: Thanks everybody for coming to the chat ...we really appreciate everybody coming
Taylor: We loved answering your questions
Taylor: Be sure to visit our website at hansonline.com
Taylor: You Guys Rock!!!!
Zachary smiles at you.
Taylor: See you next time!!
