Guides ->Kt Basics

Once you have signed up with kittentracks.com, the next thing you need to do is get your account verified. There's a help post about this that can be found here.

So, your account is now verified and you have a healthy $2000 in the bank. You'll want to hold onto this for as long as you can - money is hard to come by! You'll get paid every day that you log in, and you'll get more once a week. If you upgrade, your paychecks get bigger :) A quick and easy way to earn extra cash is to play the games. You can find a tutorial for the games here.

Hopefully you should now have a little more cash under your belt? If not, don't worry, you get paid every day :) Now, you can either buy a cat and start to show it, or wait for a day or two to let your cash build up. When you decide to finally get a kitty, there are a few options available to you. When you first start KT, you have no player experience, so you cannot purchase a ticket that will enable you to buy other members' cats (unless you are upgraded, where you do not need to purchase any tickets!). This leaves you with two choices: either buy a cat from the store for $200, or adopt a cat from Feline Friendship for $30. I strongly reccomend you adopt from FF, you can find cats with good stats and lineage for very little cost.

Now you have your first cat, you can find it on your homepage. If you click on your cat's name, you come to its page. Here you can change its name, sell it, put it for stud and give it a pretty picture. Here you can also find out your cat's mom and dad, the number of wins and places it's had, its breed, age, breeder, and most important of all, its stats. These will determin how well (or badly!) your cat does in its shows. The higher its stats, the higher the chance of your cat winning. If you're stuck on what stats do and how to raise them, click here.

So, you have your cat, and you now want to show it. Your first problem is that cats need to be fed before they can be shown. If you're feeling rich, I'd suggest you buy Milk for your kitty. Feeding your cat milk automatically sets its hunger, body fat and energy at the perfect levels for showing. If you're a bit low on cash, you can experiment with other foods. A little trick of mine is to send my cat to a Catsitter (click here for help on this.) Once you have sent your cat to the catsitter, go to your home page and cancel it. Now go to your cat's page.. and voila! Perfect levels for showing without any feeding or playing whatsoever :)! Nifty, eh?

Once your cat is ready to be shown (remember to pamper your kitty a little by using Accessories..) click the "Shows" link in the navigation section. Leave the "Max. Entries" field blank, but select "Beginner" in the "Cat Skill" field. Select the current day for the "Run Day" option, then click search. All the shows that your cat can enter for that day are then shown. To enter a show, click on its name, then click the "Enter Cat" link next to the chosen cat. If your cat has been entered, "Successfully Entered!" will show on the page. Enter your cat into as many shows as you can (for basic accounts this is 25,) then groom, play with and pet your cat a final few times before you the shows run at night. Remember before you log off to try and get your cat's levels of hunger, body fat and energy as close to perfect as you can. "Perfect" should be 10% hunger, 20% energy and 25% body fat. Your cat's satisfaction levels should be as high as possible! (HINT: Remember, you can use the catsitter trick if you're too lazy to get these levels manually.)

The next day you log on, your cat's shows will have run! Go to your cat's page to see how he did. If he did well, his experience will go up. Check the "Wins" and "Places", too. Keep showing your cat and raising its stats, and it'll soon be advanced in no time :)

After you have raised your cat to the best possible standard you can, it's time to breed! If you own a Queen (female), you can search for a stud of the same breed in the Cat Search. If you are not upgraded, you will have to purchase a Breeding Ticket before you can breed. Click on the Stud's fee to send a request to the owner. If they accept, your Queen has kittens! The number in the litter can vary from 1-8, although the more she has, the less likely they are to survive. You have to feed your kittens EVERY day if you don't want them to die. It is suggested that you breed on a Thursday, as all cats age on Fridays. Once your ktitens are 1 year old, they, too can be shown like their parents.

That is the very basics of Kittentracks, the more you play the more new things you learn :) Talk to more experienced members to try and fully grasp the strings of the game. Still need more help? Visit the FAQ.
