Opening Bands:
I really did not expect this concert to be as much fun as it was. I have only been listening to Nerf Herder since September or so, so I really didn't know them that well. However, I had done my best to prepare, and I knew every song on "How to Meet Girls" (which is an AWESOME album) plus a few other songs I had as mp3s.
There were five opening bands. The first three were local(ish) and the second two were touring with Nerf Herder, and were a lot better than the first three. The Drunken Beernuts were pretty good. They were fun. And that other band that didn't say their name sucked, but they covered an Atom and his Package song, which redeems them. As for Fairview....wow. They kicked ass. I'd never heard of them before, but I definitely bought their CD after the show. They were very rocking (not to mention very hot). Ultimate Fakebook was good, and seemed to have quite the fanbase there, but I didn't think they were especially fabulous.
Anyway, Nerf Herder. yum! They came on at around 10:45, and it was awesome. So much fun! Luckily, I knew most of the songs that they played, and they played almost all of my favourites! They did "5000 Ways to Die", "Sorry", "Nosering Girl", "Pantera Fans In Love", "Jacket", "Golfshirt"...and just...yum. all sorts of fun stuff. I don't remember a setlist, but it was fun. During "High Five Anxiety", some random kid from the audience got up on stage and sang half the song. It was so cool. They were very interactive with the audience, which was awesome.
The most amazing part of the show came at the very end, when they played "Love Sandwich". Parry (the lead singer) began pulling people on stage to sing along. Almost everyone in front of me went up. Then he said, commenting on the lack of chicks on the stage, "We have a lot of lettuce, but we need more meat up here." He then got some girls to come up....and next thing I know, Parry's pulling *me* onstage! We were then instructed to have sex while they played the song. We did not. However, I was right next to Parry, and he told me to scream into the microphone multiple times, which I certainly did. It was so much fun! I was one day singing that song in the shower, the next day, singing it onstage with the band. Ahhh, they're cool.
I got to meet everyone in the band except for Parry afterwards. (He was changing for a long time, and we had to go) They are all so nice. Ben (the fill-in bassist on this tour) wrote on my poster, "Jessie: Be my valentine." and Steve, the drummer, wrote, "Jessie is my new sweetie-pie." hehe. they're very cool. I love Nerf Herder! Great show....it was so much fun!
