[04/24/01] movie of the month: "Memento"

I watched it Saturday night. The movie is very good. And surprising. It left me, Ryan, and Derek a bit confused at the end, which pissed off Libby (Derek's girlfriend) for some reason. I guess because we didn't fully catch on to what exactly happened? We sorted it out though.

Anyway, without giving away too much: it's about a guy named Leonard whose wife is killed when a man breaks into their house and rapes her. Trying to save his wife, he gets injured in the process and loses his ability to retain thoughts for more than a few minutes (but all thoughts/abilities prior to the injury remain fairly intact). What happens as the movie develops is surprising. Be prepared to change your mind several times about what exactly has happened to him.

Hello. Remember that Ravi Shankar concert I was planning on going to? If I haven't already mentioned it, the tickets have been sold out since I tried getting them last Thursday (but most likely they've been sold out a few weeks before). The ticket sellers tell me to call at 10 AM each morning, since that's when the tickets returned from the previous day are available. So Everyday since last Friday, I've been calling at or a little after 10 AM to see if any tickets are available.

Today I had a quiz in CS257. At 10. I thought that maybe there wouldn't be any tickets available today, but I had this feeling...I go to the ticket office right after my quiz and get there around 10:40. The lady at the counter says that they had some tickets but they were already sold!! I have the best luck, don't I?

But I'm not really buggin about it. I went to work out afterwards, and I felt buff at the end. The sun was shining bright. The weather was cool. It felt like another pleasant fall day (even though you could smell the freshly cut grass). And I had macaroni and 2 breaded chicken breasts for lunch (along wit some of Andrew's ginger ale. Faygo isn't a bad brand of soda). So all in all, I'm not bad.

Of course, that doesn't take into account the melody I have to reqrite for my sonata (just the first theme). I also need to work on the second theme. It's frustrating. I hate that I'm not liking what I make. It's so hard to compose...

"Onward we march!"
