[05/19/01] a week down
I don't know what else to title this. It's been a week since I've been home. Not a bad week, except that work seems to be draining me (as always). Not that it's hard, but I just feel out of it, having to sit at the computer in a building. And I'm not too big on doing ASP pages anymore...it's getting old for me. Hopefully I'll get to do different things with them. And I'll get to use JSP later this summer. So maybe that'll be something new and interesting.
I don't have any desire to play EQ anymore. I've just lost interest for now. I might try playing tomorrow to see if things pick up for me.
I had a weird dream yesterday. I also had a weird dream last night, but I've forgotten a lot of it. So I'll tell you about the night before:
I'm in a mall or some big hotel. Multilevel. Fairly busy. There's a small bridge that goes over a man-made stream; there's some fountains around also, and stairs leading to the main pathways (I don't know how else to explain it, but I know you've seen them around in different malls). I run into some girl (it might've been Nawshin, but I don't know for sure). Apparently, we'd broken up, but she says that she'll always love me and wanted to get back together. So we spend some time together, then she has to leave. I say that I'm glad we're back together, but she said she had to think about it, then leaves.
I'm swimming in that stream, trying to catch up to her at one point.
Then I'm walking back home (wherever that is) along a railroad track on elevated ground. It's dark. Some guy joins me at one point. We eventually get to a building (it looks kinda like an old building you'd find on campus, except that people live in it). We go inside and walk across the apartment to some door, but it's locked, so that guy calls for the owner to open it. I think we walk through 10 adjacent apartments until we get to some room. And I think some people were watching movies.
And then we're outside by a big statue. This guy has telekinetic abilities and moves a rock near the base of the statue, which reveals an opening and what looks like a duplicate of the top of the statue.
We're now in my living room, and I ask him to start stacking items in the room. He starts moving things around and puts a bookshelf over the entertainment center or something, and stacks a bunch of video tapes. Everything must have been around 20 feet high. I climbed up to the top for some reason, but I couldn't et back down. The videotapes were unstable for some reason (but they were stable when climbing up?). My parents and my aunt and uncle from Florida were kinda annoyed that I was stuck up there. The guy was gone though, so I couldn't ask him for help.
Then the alarm rang.
Of course, I forgot a lot of details. I wish I could record my dreams.
Is there something wrong with me if I don't have dreams about "normal" things? Things that relate to a specific event in my life? Things either appear completely random or have some hidden meaning. But it's never about dreaming that I'll get an A in a class or that I've become more buff or whatever else that could be an everyday event.
I don't mind my dreams. I just wonder why they're 99.9% weird and somewhat cryptic. Even most of my sex dreams have something strange about them (not like necrophilia or beastiality or anything like that).
Anyway...I rented three movies last night: "Lost Highway", "Basketball Diaries", and "Space Cowboys" (my brother told me to rent that). I rented "Lost Highway" basically because Trent Reznor worked on the soundtrack, and possibly my most favorite Smashing Pumpkins song, "Eye". I've watched about half so far, I think. It's weird. I'm not feeling it. But I'll give a full report (if that's possible) after I watch it. I'm not good with describing details or subtleties.
What should I do today? I feel like I should do everything...well, it's probably best to start with finishing (or at least attempting) my honors project from last fall. And if I can encourage myself, I'll start taking stabs at the keyboard. That should be the single most important thing to do this summer, next to making money.
