Sakura Avalon is the main character of Cardcaptors. When she was 10 years old, she opened a mystical book by accident (found in her basement and placed there by her father) and released almost all of the Clow Cards (except The Windy). Sakura lives with her father and older brother in Tokyo, Japan. When Sakura was three years old, her mother had passed away.

Sakura currently attends Tomoeda Elementary School (fourth grade). Her best friend is Madison Taylor (Tomoyo Daidouji), who knows that Sakura possesses magic.

Sakura excels in her favourite school subject: physical education. She probably inherited her atheletic abilities from her father (he is a reincarnation of Clow Reed). She is on the cheerleading squad along with most of her friends. Although Sakura gets scared easily (especially of ghosts because of Tori when she was little), she always manages to come out okay :D.

Sakura is a cheerful girl who loves to help other people while she has her own problems to deal with. She is very kind-hearted and always thinks before she acts, hoping that her actions would influence others.

Sakura can be very dense at times, confused and clueless, but she has a big heart. She even found a special place in Li's heart for her :D.

In the beginning, Sakura has a crush on Julian (Yukito), Tori's best friend. When Julian doesn't return her love, she went to Li and he comforted her. However, this was only said in the Japanese version of Cardcaptor Sakura.

Li Showron was Sakura's rival for the beginning of the Cardcaptors series (he was aggresive towards Sakura for the Clow Cards). Since he is a decendant of Clow Reed, he is also cardcaptor. No one can really figure out his emotions since he seldom smiles and actually shows an facial expressions! Li is also very quiet and naive, since he believes all of Zachary's stories.

Li is from Hong Kong and visits there sometimes to see his mother and his four sisters. In the Japanese version, he is engaged to Meilin Rae, his cousin from Hong Kong (a.k.a Meilin Chan). Even though he is engaged, he seems to show alot of interest in Julian (Yukito). Whenever he sees Julian, he either smiles or blushes. Li feels this attraction because his intuition sensed the power of Yue inside Julian.

Later on as the episodes progresses, we can also see he develops an obvious crush on Sakura. He blushes everytime she's near or whenever she smiles at him or even talks to him. Sometimes, he would stare at her without blinking. Although they are quite a cute couple, Li and Sakura are not shown together in Cardcaptors, but they are in Cardcaptor Sakura.

Madison is Sakura's best friend and most fanatic fan. She likes to film Sakura on her "cardcaptor adventures" and provide Sakura with all different designs of wacky, cool, and pretty costumes.

Since Madison's mother is quite wealthy, Madison usually gets a lot of high-tech machines (cellphones, filming equipment, etc.). In one episode, Madison gives sakura a cellphone. For some reason, it seemed like something to do with Kero, or maybe that was just me thinking some weird thoughts when I was watching that episode ^_^

Meilin is a very competitive girl. When she first met Sakura, she was quite mad since she thought Li liked Sakura (Japanese). However, as the seasons progresses, Meilin starts to like Sakura and she becomes very good friends with Sakura.

Meilin is very good at martial arts. She had fought the Fight Card, and though she almost lost, she put up a very good battle against a magical being.

She has a crush on Li (something to do with when Li and Meilin was little. In the Japanese version, she was engaged to Li) and always seems to be very harsh on him. Anyhow, she is a good character in the story.

Kero is the "stuffed animal" sent to guide Sakura on a Cardcaptor journey. However, he is very lazy (the reason why the cards were released, he was asleep) and likes to play video games all day. Besides playing video games, he likes to eat A LOT! Especially candy and sweets.

Tori is Sakura's older and more protective brother. Although he may always seem to act annoyed at Sakura, he loves her and cares for her very much. And though he seems to have something against Li (maybe it's because he saw Li bullying Sakura in the first episode?), I think he has learned to accept that fact that Sakura is with him, or has Tori accepted that?

Julian is also Tori's best friend.

Julian is what you would call a pig. Personally, I don't really know why Sakura likes him so much...he eats a lot and he has white hair and round glasses!

Anyway, back to describing Julian. Julian is nice and kind. He usually helps out Sakura (gave her a watch that she almost lost!!!). His "alter ego" is Yue, a servant of Clow Reed. Although Julian may stuff himself silly when he is a "human", Yue doesn't eat. He just flies around and uses moon powers ^^

Also, the only reason Li had liked Julian in the beginning was because he was attracted to Yue's moon powers (or something like that).
