Aaron Allen
Software Designer
After graduation, I would like to work for the Harris Corporation. I would like to work at Harris
Because it is close to home, and I can hopefully get involved in a co-op opportunity very soon.
I want to be a software designer, because I enjoy working with code and programming. To work
Harris, “will have to develop and design new system requirements and anylysis of existing
systems.” (Career) This seems very interesting to me, because I want to be right in the core of the
programming. I like working with the guts and I like to know exactly how everything is working.
I will have to be able to work with the parameters of hardware and software capabilities, which
is something that I am looking forward too. I don’t want to just sit in an office all day writing
code for one specific purpose, and that’s all I ever do. At Harris, it seems as though they give
trememdous amounts of different assignments, all ranging from completely different things.
That’s what I am looking for for the most part. Working with the customers is a big part of the
job at Harris. You have to consult the customers and the people who will be using your
programs and systems, so that you know exactly what specifications they want to have on their
hardware or software.
I think that following the curriculum that Florida Tech has set out will help me gain the
knowledge and experience to be able to perform my job as well as I can. Hopefully, as I
mentioned above, I would like to do a co-op with Harris in the near future, and that way I can
work my way up to this position if I am ready and qualified for it. I would also someday like to
work for a bigger company than Harris, but I think that working for Harris will give me a good
step for what I am looking for in the future. This would be a fantastic opportunity for me, and I
am working hard to achieve my goals.
