Origins

Who is this enigmatic figure do you ask? Well, I'm the son of Thomas and Ming-ta Hsu, born and raised in the state of California, USA. I was born an only child in the city of Burlingame.. we moved around a few times but mostly we stayed in the Bay Area, and we're now in the city of San Jose. My childhood was aiight I guess...I had everything a kid could want. One of the advantages of being the only child is that I had a pretty big sized toy collection. Yes, you can say I was really spoiled. But you know what, I'd give all that shit away to have a little brother or sister. Both of my parents worked back then, and I was usually stuck at the baby sitters all the time. It got pretty boring there...wasn't much to do except watch cartoons all day. Mr. TV was like my best friend. Oh sure, I had other friends too, but you can't go out much when you have the sitter watching you all the time.

I went to all religious schools all the way up to college. I was born a Catholic cuz my mom's a Catholic... the funny thing is my dad was a Buddhist. I don't know how they decided which religion I was gonna be...I guess they flipped a coin or something. Anyways, I went to a Catholic grade school all the way till high school. Then for high school I went to this all Jesuit boys school. Shit, that really sucked going to an all boys school. Pretty much fucked over all my social skills with women back then. I mean it was a great school academically, but with no girls it felt like prison. Then after high school, I went to UCLA for undergrad and later to USC for grad.

I really didn't have any pressure put on me to do well in school. I mean besides the idle threats of "stop watching tv and go study or I'll beat your ass up"... you know, typical asian parenting 101... things were pretty mellow. They basically stopped hassling me about studying when I got into high school and started pulling 4.0s for a couple years. The only pressure that exists now, is the pressure that I put on myself to succeed... now I'm really screwed.. heh heh. Actually, I'm doing relatively well for myself. I've graduated with my Masters degree and I'm currently working at IBM in SI Valley. It's a pretty sweet life that I live, without many pressures and I'm very thankful for it. The only problem I have now is finding a woman to share it with... yes, NOW I'm really in trouble.
