My Favorite Journals

Here is a short list of the best journals I've read to date, and a few that I think are going to be great.

Then The Hail Came is probably the best story about an AT trip I've ever read. It's the story of George Steffanos' 1983 AT hike. I laughed . . . I cried . . . I got in trouble at work for being on the internet too often. . .

Sheltowee's journal is the journal of Dan Rogers, which I transcribed last year.

Yogi's journal is the journal of Jackie McDonnell, who started her hike w/ Dan Rogers last year, but hurt her ankle in NC and ended up a month behind him. I think that hers was the most popular journal of 1999.

Mr. D's journal has been quite interesting so far this year. He began his hike this year on February 7th.

Ramkitten's journal looks like it will be quite interesting. She won't be starting until April 2nd of this year, but if her introduction is any indication of what's in store, it's certain to be a hit!

Nina Baxley's journal on GORP will be quite interesting, as she is travelling south, rather than north. I met her via Trailplace last year, as she was transcribing Yogi's journal, and I was transcribing Sheltowee's. She begins her trek on June 21st (naked hiking day) and will finish sometime in December (brrr!!)

Also, look for the journal of and Tom (Datto) Griffiths on the Trailplace site.
