If you have a plain-Jane
Parts list:
single 10.240 crystal
40 channel radio,
and you'd like to
get those "A" channels,
then this is
just what you need!
Some 4.7pf ceramic
disc capacitors Rat shack
sometimes has these in
2-packs, but if
they don't you may
have to buy thier
80 piece multi-pack
for 8 bucks, cat# 272-809
There's 2 ways to do this, you could remove the
crystal and run some short wires to a
switch as shown in the picture, or you could cut through
one of the foil traces leading to the crystal,
soldering your capacitor(s) across the cut,
and you would then solder a wire on each side of the cut
leading to your switch. I prefer to do it by removing
the crystal, I think it's just easier that way.
The 22pf capactitor is just a suggested value,
you may find you need a lower value like
9pf or 13pf to make the radio slide the
full 10 khz.
