Super-Swing Drawing

The picture shows how
to build a basic swing kit for
just about any radio.
basicly it does the same thing
as "Super-Talk" but this kit is much easier to build.
The only difference in performace
is that the dead carrier will
not be variable,
instead it will be permanantly set.
If you want change the dead carrier level
then you must change the ohm value of
the 1/2 watt resistor shown
in the drawing.

Parts list:

Polarized electrolitic capacitor
100uf or 220uf 35 volt
Rat-shack catalog# 272-1028 or 272-1029

assortment package of
resistors Rat-shack cat# 271-306

The first thing to do is
find the anti-spiking diode, it will be located close to the modulation
transformer. The modulation transormer is easy to find, it's the biggest
transformer in any mobile radio. Now that anti-spiking diode is right next to
the modulation transformer, to confirm that it is the right diode, get your
ohm-meter and set it to the Rx1 scale. Now place one lead on the cathode
(that's the end of the diode with the little band on it) Place the other
lead on the "tab" of the final. The meter should read zero ohms.

Now that you found the anti-spiking diode,
you are ready to build and install the swing-kit.
Choosing the right 1/2 watt resistor is
the key to getting the right dead carrier level.
If the dead carrier ends up being too high,
then change the resistor to a higher ohm value.
If the dead carrier is too low, then
change the resistor to a lower ohm value.
It's going to be a "by guess and by golly"
process, so it may take a few tries to
get it set the way that you want it.
