Harriette onward to Biscay
Just a quick note as we approach Ushant, off Brest, en route for the Bay of Biscay and
La Corunna.
It is now 9 oclock Wednesday morning and Jonathan, Greg, Jo and I have been
"sailing" for 2 days and nights.
We're having wonderful warm sunny weather and a very smooth passage. Yesterday we
saw basking sharks. One came right under the bow and I got a couple of photos. Later we
saw what we think were porpoises.
The only snag is that we've had so little wind that we've had to motor most of the way.
Now we are going approaching the Chanel du Fours, close to the coast of Brittany, and then
into the Bay of Biscay. That will be a crossing of several days. The winds are forecast
very light till next Saturday. We have to conserve diesel so it may take us that long to
get to La Corunna.
Still, we're enjoying the trip so that's not a problem. We've decided to sail non-stop, in
spite of the lack of wind. The fuel is nearly enough (we think) to get us to La Corunna if
the wind doesn't pick up much.
Jonathan sends his love to Coryse and all at the Coach House.
Greg is asleep, having done the midnight to 4am watch, but I'm sure he sends his love to
Margaret.
Love from Mike, Jo, Greg & Jonathan
