Suggested Servers
Which servers are stable? Which have less lag? Which have best oversight? Can the server handle 56k players? All of these questions are taken into consideration when creating this list. Also, what's better? Bigger servers, or smaller ones? In my opinion, smaller servers are better. Once you get past 20 players in a server, it can get nasty. Basically, more people will go around with guns blazing just because there are so many people that they want to hit. This means that luck plays a bigger role with more people in a game. The chance of getting surrounded increases. Smaller servers, on the other hand, require more skill from each individual, but it's easier in the sense that 1v1 is more often than getting jumped by 5 guys at once. Just my two-cents of opinion. For some sweet server-surfing software, check out The All-Seeing Eye. (works for many online FPS games) Expect this list to grow and the servers are listed in order of when I decide their worthy...not from best to worst or anything like that.
Current Picks
-boo's server: Nice, stable server run by clan |X| with admin "boohahaha," and the usual weapons are banned. It let's 12 people play, not too many, not too few, just the way I like it!
-Cow's SOF II: This one kinda has a high ping, and it only fits 8 players. However, small servers can be nicer for the aforementioned reasons. Not to mention, this server seems to always be up, and is full about half of the time I play SOF2. (No real admin, so you need to vote)
-The Great Milenko: Now usually I'm against servers that hold more than 20 people since the chaos just leads to more luck of letting your ammo fly and hitting people only because they're so many. However, this server is VERY stable, low lag, the admin sometimes plays, it has it's own website and just provides a very entertaining experience that only a large server can offer.
-Dead Factory: Stable, holds 18 or so, has losta good players. Besides no voting or M4/USAS, the only other server preference is THE ADMIN ARE FREAKY! They like to randomly turn on friendly fire and other crazy game adjustments that can really mess you up. However, 75% of the time, it's a cool and normal server...so it's still recomended. Demo Buster is required.
-Distort Gaming Infiltration: Now with 2 servers!
Old Picks (servers no longer seen)
-Tommys Superserver: "Super" might be a bit of an overstatement, but it does fit 14 or so folks fairly well. Heads up: no voting, no 3rd person, no M4/USAS (the usual weapon banning) admin rarely around, but if he is, watch out! Hehe...no worries, just play clean and have fun on this server.
-Kimmy's Killa [ZF]: This clan ZF server is of fair size. I think it held around 14 players. However, the host is rarely around, so you need to vote and no shotguns are allowed. The host doesn't like third person users and says that shotguns are what 3rd users use the most...I say bahumbug. However, the host has a point, "If you don't like it, go play on another server." I'm content, thank you. -ATF: This is the clan server for ATF and is some what stable, the host is always present, and it is made for 4v4 games (If I remember correctly...haven't seen this one up in awhile). -HomeLan servers: These servers are usually full, and usually have top-notch players. Of course there will be a few noobs, but the guys leading their respective teams usually kick major ass. So beware. They are also usually larger ones too, with upwards of 20 players in a server. -[GOF] INF: Another clan server that usually doesn't have GOF people in it...strange. Still a mighty fine server for smaller games. Seems fairly stable, but no voting is a real drag. -Conflict: This server isn't up too often, but it's another VERY stable and lag-free server that supports 14 or 16 or so players at once. Very good, and admin was there when I played. I dunno if he's always there, but it'd be a plus if he is, so there would be constant monitoring.
-Goliath.warclan.net: Not quite as stable as other servers, holds around 18 players, and allows all weapons. However, there is no voting. A good server most of the time...but like I said...the stability is not as high as other servers. Of course, they have their own website with some stats on previous games and on the actual server itself. -F&C Laboratory: Good stability, good clan, good people, good server. The server allows M4 and USAS...a welcome surprise in today's world of servers that ban the "n00b" weapons. No voting allowed, by the admins are sometimes there, so don't expect too much trouble.
