Three level of comprehension skills.
Literal | Understanding what the author actually wrote. |
Inferential | “read between the lines” put and ideas together to draw conclusions and make generalizations. |
Critical | Judgement - questioning, comparing and evaluating. |
· First sentence in a paragraph
· First supporting details end with main idea.
· Some detail, Main idea, and more detail
· All the Information equally important
Some paragraphs do not directly state – infer
· What is the topic of the paragraph?
· What aspect of the topic is the author discussing?
· What main idea does the author want you to know about the topic in relation to the aspect being discussed?
