Desert Flower

Ancient Egypt....................

Black, curly hair framed a young girls face. She brushed it out of her eyes with a flick of her wrist. Her ice colored eyes took in her surroundings. A small prison. I had almost no ventilation and no sunlight. She sighed sadly. All her life she had been a free spirit, a desert flower if you will. She had done nothing wrong. ‘Except be free.’ she thought bitterly. One moment she was watering her sheep and the next she woke up in this place. She didn’t know what was to happen to her and she didn’t wan’t to find out. She looked up as she heard a faint click. The guard opened her cell door and dragged her out roughly by the wrist. She winced in disgust as he looked at her, his eyes full of lust. She closed her eyes and softly chanted a spell. The guard lost interest in her and threw her up against the wall. She opened her eyes. The guard held a knife up to her throat. She did the last resort. She slowly moved her hand up his arm and then to his neck. She squeezed and felt the knife being pulled away from her. She brought the other hand up and pressed his windpipe, hoping it would cave.

Just as this was going on two high preists cam in to take her out so she could be seen by the pharoah. “What are you doing girl? Stop that now!” She looked at them. “Try and stop me.” The tall priest came behind her and pried her off. She struggled against his grip to no avail. She was dragged out of the prison and was being taken to be cleaned and made presentable to the pharoah. She did not try to attack once she was taken. It was no use anymore. ‘I want to be free. I have to get out of here and go back to my family.’ She was led into a room. In it were three women. They looked at her and then directed her to a small pond. She was cleaned and then handed some clothes. She reluctantly put them on and watched with sadness as her old clothes were taken away. She was led to a different room this time. It was larger than the other two and had one, solitary person in it. She was pushed in and the door was closed.

With her only chance of escape gone she faced the person in front of her. “Hello. I am the pharaoh’s most trusted friend.” “Go away!” she snapped. The man smirked and gently pulled her away from the door. “What does the pharoah want with me?” “He mearly wishes to see you.” She did not entirley trust this man. “Excuse me sir, but what is your name?” “My name? Very well. It is Maximillious.” She looked at him. He had brown eyes and long siverish hair. She knew she couldn’t trust him. They reached the other side of the room and walked into yet another room. The room was even bigger than all others and it had three people in it. The one in the throne was none other than the pharoah. “Here is the girl pharoah.” said Maximillious in his smooth tone. “Fine. You may leave now friend.” Maximillious left. He looked her over gave an appraising smirk. “Very nice. What is your name youn flower?” She looked at the pharoah and just as she opened her mouth the door burst open.

Six guards dragged in a boy. “Sir, we caught the thief.” She looked at the boy. He had long white hair and intense green eyes. He looked cold and empty. He looked at her and hung his head. ‘Great. I had to be captured and then drug in here and then to be humiliated in front of a female! An exceptionaly pretty one at that!’ She looked at him and felt a mix of emotions. The pharoah looked at her and stroked her face. That did it. She felt a white hot anger boiling inside. She couldn’t contain it and punched him. He grabbed his face where she had hit. “Gah! Take them both to the prison!” he bellowed. She was grabbed by two of the guards that had held the boy.

She looked around the prison again. There was one thing different. The boy was there. He looked at her in amazement. “Who are you?” she asked cautiously. “My name is Bakura. I was a tomb thief. Who are you?” he replied. “My name is Tiana. I was a sheperdess.” Bakura looked at her. No one had quite amazed him like this ever. ‘This Tiana is very different. Something is off about her, but what?’ Tiana looked around and then found herself looking at him. ‘He looks so tough and the dim light makes his features seem even more so. He has the nicest eyes a piercing green color. I have never seen anyone with those eyes. But yet I feel an odd comfort around him.’ She moved her hair away from her eyes and sighed. Bakura had fallen asleep. ‘He looks cute when he is sleeping.’ she thought absentmindedly.

Her eyes grew heavy. She looked around for something to cover herself with but found none. She moved over next to the former thief and watched him sleep. He opened his eyes and saw her watching him. She smiled weakly and started to leave. He took her hand and stopped her. “Please. Stay here. I need the company.” She looked at him. ‘How alone he is. How alone I am too.’ Tiana laid down next to him and fell asleep. He looked at her and put his arms around her. ‘What is happening? We are but two strangers yet we are already friends and comforters to each other. What is fate trying to pull?’ he thought. Bakura closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

The pharoah sat on his bed and gingerly touched the now sensitive cheek she had punched. “Pharoah Yami, you have a visitor.” Yami nodded and a man with long blond hair and royal blue eyes walked in. “Hello Yami.” he said as if he were addressing a normal person. “Hello Malik. What do you want?” “You have a certain young girl in your possession. I want her.” “Why is that Malik?” “She is my kin. I am her uncle and I wish for her to be returned to me.” “Right now she is down in the prison with that wretched tomb thief Bakura.” Malik raised an eyebrow then smirked. “Ah so you have captured him at last. And here I thought he could not be caught.” Yami smirked. “You can’t have her back yet. She is possibly asleep and it would be rude to wake her now. You may see her in the morning. Come by the prison and they will let her go.” “Thank you sir. I shall see you in the morning.” Malik left as silently as he came and smirked. ‘Soon her powers will be mine. I am only hoping she does not form some sort of bond with Bakura. As my sister told me, Tiana would fall for a thief. I have to get her back as soon as Ra rises.’ he thought.
