Chapter Four

Captured First

I’m all alone, she kept repeating in her head as she walked along the wet sidewalks. It is my destiny to be alone. “ Melanie?” someone said from afar, forever lonely. “ Melanie!” someone yelled through the downpour, Melanie slowly lifted her soaked head to see who was calling her. Though her hair was all nappy and covered her face, she was able to see someone running toward her. It appeared to be a boy, clutching an umbrella in one of his hands. Melanie didn’t care; she slowly lifted her head back down and weakly lifted her feet to keep walking.

“ Melanie!” the person yelled again, Melanie didn’t listen, letting the sharp rain scratch her face and body. But then, the sharp felling stopped; she looked down at her feet to see the rain wasn’t falling on her anymore. “ This should help,” someone said deeply yet nicely, Melanie recognized that voice. She felt a soft hand support her chin as he lifted her head so she would look at him. The boy had long white hair, deep blue eyes, at first he look evil, but he look at her with kindness. Melanie opened her mouth, but her voice was so small that only a mouse could hear it, “ Bakura…” “ You’re soaking wet, what were you thinking?” he said with concern.

Melanie jolted her head away from his grip and started to walk away, “ leave me be Bakura.” “ Why?” he demanded as he put his umbrella above her again, Melanie eyes started to water, “ because you just should, you shouldn’t have to worry about someone like me.” “ What’s that suppose to me?” Bakura yelled, Melanie just shook her head, “ go home Bakura, you’ll catch a cold if you stay out here any longer.” Bakura grabbed her tightly by the upper arm; “ I’m not going anywhere unless you tell me what the hell is wrong with you.” Melanie just stared at him with shining eyes, “ why do you care Bakura, I know how you feel about me, you cant stand me…” she started to say until Bakura got angry, dropping his umbrella so he could grab her other arm. “ You don’t know anything Mel, especially about on how I feel about you” he yelled, Melanie just stared at him in shock.

Bakura just gave a big sigh, “ come on, my apartment’s not far from here, lets go there so you can dry off.” Melanie looked back down at her feet, it wouldn’t hurt, besides, I have no where else to go. Melanie nodded her head slightly, “ ok,” she whispered, “ good,” he replied as he wrapped his arm around her, she started to blush a bit, “ stay close so we can stay dry all right?” They started to walk back to his place.

“ Here drink this,” Bakura said as he handed Melanie a cup of hot chocolate, “ help you relax.” Melanie took the cup and blew on it, “ thanks,” she muttered as she took a sip. They went quiet for awhile as she drank her hot chocolate. “ You wanna tell me why you were out there?” Bakura asked softly, Melanie just stared into the cup, “ I was just thinking,” she replied as she took another sip. Bakura stared at her with disbelief but he didn’t push her to tell the truth to him. “ About what?” he asked, “ just stuff, nothing important,” she lied as put down the cup on the counter. Bakura gave a small chuckle, “ thank you,” Melanie muttered, “ for what?” Bakura asked, Melanie gave a small smile, “ for caring.”

Melanie felt Bakura’s strong arms wrap around her waist, she gave out a small gasp, “ I will always care for you Melanie,” he whispered in her ear. “ Bakura…” she whispered as she felt the sensation of his hot breath against her skin. “ You were wrong about thinking that I couldn’t stand you…” Bakura said as he rested his head in the crick of her neck, “ I think the exact opposite.” Melanie’s eyes widened at that last phrase, “ you…do?” she stuttered. Bakura chuckled, “ I thought it was obvious,” he tightened his grip around her waist, she thought she would be scared, but in fact she felt safe in his arms. Bakura felt her fingers softly touch his hands, “ now it is,” she muttered.

Bakura couldn’t take it anymore, he had very strong feelings for Melanie, he had for a millennium, but her ancient soul doesn’t remember the special bond they had with each other. A wicked smile went across his face; I’ll make her remember. He softly started to kiss her neck and shoulder, Melanie’s eyes widened with shock, what is he doing? She gave a little moan, she felt like she was about to collapse, she wanted him to stop, but for some reason, she just couldn’t. “ Stop…p…please,” she muttered as she tried to break his grip, but he just kept holding on. “ Why,” he said wickedly as he sucked gently on her pulse. “ Please Bakura stop,” Melanie struggled to say, Bakura started to purr, “ I love you Melanie.”

Melanie felt the adrenaline rush through her, she was finally able to break from his grip and turn to look at him, “ what did you say,” she stuttered as she tried to grip what he said to her. “ I said I love you,” Bakura said with no hesitation, Melanie just stared at him. “ I want you to remember Mel,” Bakura said, “ I want to you remember us, what we were to each other.” “ I don’t understand,” Melanie replied shaking as she tried to grip what was happening, Bakura gave a big sigh. “ It was over a millennium ago, you were a close friend and protector of the Lower Egyptian pharaoh, I was just a thief, messing with the guards.” Bakura continued, “ but unfortunately my cockiness got me caught, to forever rot in the dungeons, but what I thought would be torture, was actually happiness.”

Melanie became confused, I don’t understand, I know I was a friend of the pharaoh, but everything that deals with Bakura, it’s…it’s fuzzy. But her thoughts were interrupted as Bakura continued on, “ it was there that I met you, Melanie, the pharaoh’s advisor.” “ I don’t why you were there, but I tried to make sure you were miserable, but it didn’t bring you down.” “ But soon did you not just bring joy to your own heart, but you also brought joy to mine as well.” Bakura looked at her, he slowly walked toward her, she just stood there in fear, he softly cupped her face with his hands, stroking her cheeks with his thumbs. “ You believed in me Melanie, even when no one else believed in me, you did,” Melanie stared at him not scared anymore, but with warmth. “ I wish you could remember, there’s nothing else I would want more than for you to remember,” Bakura said with sorrow as he looked own at his feet.

He then felt Melanie lift his head with her hands, a sweet smile on her face, love shining in her eyes. “ Mel…” he stuttered as he started to blush lightly, she leaned in closer toward him, “ help me remember Bakura,” she whispered softly to him. “ I don’t want to be alone anymore,” she said as if she was about to cry Bakura looked at her with warmth, “I don’t want you to be either.”

Bakura slowly leaned in softly kissed her, feeling her arms wrap around his neck. Bakura started to feel dizzy with passion. Without completely thinking, he grabbed her by the wrists and slammed her onto the wall, pressing his lips harder onto hers. And they continued making out.

“ Its time to put my plan into action,” Malik growled to one of his servants, “ send our best henchmen to get her.” “ Yes,” his servant said as he bowed his head in respect. When he was alone, Malik had a wicked smile spread across his face, “ be ready first, your life is about to come crumpling down.”

I wish I could be like this forever Melanie thought in her head as she started to stir from her sleep. As she started to open her eyes, she saw it was still nighttime, the rain had stop, showing a beautiful full moon. Melanie cuddled more into Bakura’s body, he was still asleep, his clothes and hair all messed up from a long period of passionate kissing. I’m not alone anymore, I am his, and he is mine, she thought as she smiled sweetly and softly kissed Bakura’s lips. She then felt Bakura’s strong hand pull her in to kiss her, pressing hard against her lips. Melanie let out a little moan as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

“ Hello Mel,” Bakura said huskily, “ hey, sleep well?” Melanie replied as Bakura gave her a small kiss on the cheek. “ Yeah,” he replied, “ you?” Melanie brushed the hair out of his face, “ I’m not alone anymore Bakura, so yeah, I did.” Bakura leaned and started to kiss her neck, “ I’m glad you’re happy,” he muttered through his kisses. “ Bakura,” Melanie said, Bakura gave out a small growl that meant he was listening, “ we should get sleep, we have to meet up with the guys tomorrow.” Bakura gave out a moan, “ forget them,” Melanie giggled, “ that’s not nice.” “ They’ve never done anything for me so why should I do anything for them,” Bakura said as he lifted his head, Melanie smiled, “ come on, they’re our friends whether you want to admit it or not.” Bakura growled, “ if you wanna believe that fine, but you’re right, we should get some sleep anyway.” “ I’m glad you agree,” Melanie giggled as she cuddled up to Bakura again, “ good night Bakura,” she said, Bakura smiled at her and wrapped his arms her waist, “ good night Melanie.”

“ (Yawn) Why did we have to get up this early,” Joey whined, everyone had a sweatdrop, “ Joey, its 11:00,” Claire replied. “ But it’s a weekend, we should be sleeping,” Joey replied back. Kaiba gave him a look of disgust, “ you are such a moron Wheeler,” Kathy gave him a deadly glare, “ knock it off Kaiba, he didn’t do anything to you.” “ Shut up Kathy,” he replied, Kathy’s face tightened with anger, “ you…” she growled before she whacked him up the head. “ Come on you guys, lets not fight,” Yugi demanded. Kathy and Kaiba looked at Yugi, “ well maybe if Melanie and Bakura would hurry up maybe we wouldn’t be fighting,” Kaiba growled. “ Yeah where is Bakura and Mel?” Claire added, everyone looked at each other; they then heard the bell of the pizzeria ring. They looked to see Bakura and Melanie walk in, “ hey there you are,” Claire said with delight, “ where were you?” Kathy added. “ Sorry we’re late,” Melanie said as she and Bakura sat down, “ what we miss?” Bakura ask. “ Nothing except Kathy and Kaiba at each others throats again,” Tea said with disappointed, “ again,” Melanie whined, “ can’t you two ever get along?” “ What’s the point?” Kathy replied as she crossed her arms.

Everyone just laughed, “ why are you laughing? I was serious,” Kathy growled. “ Let’s forget about it and relax,” Yugi said through his laughs, “ yeah all right,” Kathy growled back. But there laughter was interrupted when they heard some one scream, in came a woman gasping for breath, “ help some one, those hooded guys tried to hurt me,” she exclaimed. Yugi and the others eyes widened and gasped, “ Malik,” they said in unison as they ran out the door.

Standing right there was Mailk’s minions. “ What do you?” Kathy growled, the minions started to make gargling noise. “ What are they saying?” Claire said with disgust, “ I heard “first”.” “ Well whatever they’re after,” Yugi said as his millennium puzzle started to glow violently, “ but they’re not gonna get it.” With a huge flash of light stood Yami, “ lets do this you guys,” Melanie growled to Kathy and Claire, “ right,” they said in unison. “ Wait,” Yami exclaimed, “ they might be after you, so stay back.” But before they could answer, the henchmen sent an explosion their way.

“ Get down!” Yami exclaimed as he and the others tried to duck out of the way. But Melanie wasn’t so fortunate, “ AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” she screamed. Bakura turned to see what was wrong, “ NO, MEL!” Bakura exclaimed, “ what’s wrong?” Kathy and Claire asked before they saw what was happening. As the smoke cleared, they could see that one of the hooded men had Melanie by the throat. The first… Kathy thought in her head, Melanie was the first one to find out about her being a protector, Kathy’s eyes widened with horror, THERE AFTER MELANIE! “ Yami!” she screamed, “ there after Melanie, we have to save her.” “ You got it,” Bakura growled as he charged toward them. “ Bakura no!” Yami exclaimed, but it was to late, one of the men whacked Bakura out of the way, lying lifeless on the ground. Melanie’s eyes widened with horror at Bakura’s lifeless body, but her thoughts were interrupted as the man started to tighten his grip around her neck, making her faint.

“ Melanie! Bakura!” Yami exclaimed, “ oh no,” Claire gasped. “ Let’s go Claire,” Kathy growled as her necklace formed into a sword, “ right,” she replied as they charged toward them. But as they got toward them, they disappeared, “ where they go?” Kathy growled as she looked around. But they were interrupted when another explosion came toward them, wiping them and the others out.

As the men walked away, Melanie started to regain consciousness, opening her eyes to see the horror of her friends knocked out and lifeless. “ NO!” Melanie exclaimed, “ YOU GUYS!” She turned her head to see Bakura, “ BAKURA! BAKURA!” she exclaimed. But he didn’t answer, no one did, and Melanie disappeared with tears streaming down her face.

“ Yes, faze one was a complete,” Malik said maliciously as he looked as the unconscious Melanie, tears still streaming down her face and on the floor. “ Now all I need to do is take care of the other two.” Malik smiled wickedly, “ soon the power of Yami and the love of Umi will be mine!”
