Chapter Three

We Meet Again Yami

Pharaoh Umi…Kathy thought as she looked out the window to see the thunderstorm; Kaiba was asleep but Kathy couldn’t, she kept thinking about that one time she left her body and met who she believed was indeed Pharaoh Umi. If that was Pharaoh Umi then she is in grave danger, Kathy thought, she’s very weak and has no way to defend herself. Kathy looked at her magical necklace that laid on the stand next to the bed, she slowly picked it up and tightened her grip around it. If we don’t hurry, Umi will surely be captured by Malik, she kept thinking in her head, we have to reunite her with her love from the past, we have to reunite her with…she was thinking until she heard someone call her. “ Kathy?” a deep voice muttered, Kathy turned to see Kaiba staring at her, “ oh Kaiba, your awake,” Kathy said. “ What are you doing it’s the middle of the night,” Kaiba muttered, Kathy looked down at her feet and smiled, “ sorry couldn’t sleep, I was thinking about something.” “ About what?” Kaiba asked as he kept his eyes on her, Kathy jolted her head to look at him, she closed her eyes and shook her head as she smiled, “ its nothing important,” Kaiba then crawled over to her and wrapped his arms around her. “ You sure?” Kaiba whispered in her ear as he softly kissed her cheek; Kathy giggled, “ yeah I’m sure.”

Katherine… a voice muttered in her head, Kathy’s eyes widened, Katherine…the voice called again. “ Umi…” Kathy muttered, “ huh?” Kaiba asked. Help me Katherine… the voice called. “ Pharaoh Umi!” Kathy exclaimed as she got out of Kaiba’s grip and ran out of the bedroom, “ Kathy!” Kaiba exclaimed. Kathy didn’t turn to around to see Kaiba, she quickly out the house and ran in the direction that the voice was coming from.

Where is she? Kathy kept thinking as she ran toward the City Park, her pj’s and hair were soaking wet but she didn’t care. Kath… the voice said until the voice was cut off, Kathy then stopped, catching her breath as she looked in every direction, where could she be. “ Kathy!” two voices said from behind her, Kathy quickly turned around to see Melanie and Claire. “ You guys, what are you doing here?” Kathy asked, “ we heard some one calling us so we followed the voice,” Melanie explained, “ we think its Pharaoh Umi,” Claire finished. Kathy gasped, “ you guys heard her too?” “ You heard her?” Claire gasped, “ yeah but I just stopped hearing the voice, but where is she,” Kathy said as she looked around. I’m right here, a soft voice said from behind them; they turned to see a hooded figure standing there. “ Who are you?” Melanie asked, the hooded figure didn’t say anything, it is I… the figure spoke up, Pharaoh Umi! “ Pharaoh Umi?” Claire muttered in shock, “ are you really her?” Melanie asked. “ She is,” Kathy spoke up, Melanie and Claire looked at her, “ I recognize that voice anywhere,” she finished.

Thank you for coming Umi said softly, “ Umi what’s wrong?” Melanie asked, “ yeah, are you in trouble,” Claire added. Umi shook her head, yes but that’s not why I called you here, “ then why did you?” Kathy asked. I need you to do something for me, Umi replied, the girls looked at each other, “ uh what?” Kathy asked. I need you to have Yami meet me here tomorrow night, Umi explained. “ I don’t understand why?” Kathy asked, I just do so if you could just get him to meet me here. The girls looked at each other and nodded, “ yeah, of course,” oh but before you go I need you to make sure of something, Umi said, “ what?” the girls said in unison, don’t tell him that he’s meeting me, tell him you are. “ Why?” Claire asked, I have my reasons, so please could you do this for me, Umi explained, “ yeah all right,” Kathy replied as she nodded her head. Thank you Umi said happily.

Ring, Ring Yugi turned to see his phone was ringing. Yugi quickly picked it up, “ hello,” Yugi said. “ Hey Yug,” a familiar voice said from the other line, Yugi it was Kathy. “ Hey Kathy, what’s up?” Yugi said happily, “ not much, hey listen, we need Yami to meet us at the city park tonight at 10:00,” Kathy explained. “ Why?” Yugi asked, “ we have some leads but we’ll tell you more tonight k?” Kathy said quickly, “oh okay,” Yugi replied. “ All right, see ya tonight,” Kathy replied as she then hung up the phone. “ Hey Yami,” Yugi said as he hung up the phone, “ yeah,” the transparent Yami said. “ You have to meet the girls at 10:00 tonight okay,” Yugi explained, “ yeah all right,” Yami said.

(10:00 that night)

It’s was now 10:00 and Yami was still waiting for the girls to show up. I’m sure they said City Park, Yami thought. Hello Yami, a voice said from behind him, Yami quickly turned around to see a hooded person standing under a Sakura tree. “ Who are you and why are you here?” Yami said without thinking. The figure gave out a small giggle; I’m here to see you Yami, the figure replied, “ you still haven’t told me your name,” Yami said deeply. I’m Pharaoh Umi, the figure replied, Yami’s eyes widened in amazement, “ Um…Umi,” Yami stuttered. “ But I thought I was here to see Kathy and the others,” Yami said, Umi just shook her head, no, I told them to tell you that, you were really supposed to see me. Yami just stood there in shock; Umi let out a small giggle, I thought that was how you would react. “ But, why? Why did you want to see me?” Yami stuttered, Umi then started to walk toward him, I don’t know just because I wanted to see your face again. Yami just stared her, “ how is this possible?” I used almost the last bit of energy so I could have a solid body for 30 minutes, Umi replied. “ Why! Why would you do such a stupid thing like that, it could kill you don’t you know that?!” Yami exclaimed; Umi went silent, then she turned to look at the night sky.

It was worth it if I could see you Umi said softly; Yami’s face went blank. Umi then walked toward him and came so close to Yami that their faces almost met; Yami turned crimson red, “ U…um...i?” he stuttered. Umi then placed her head on his chest; Yami just looked at her as he slowly wrapped his arms around her, You don’t know how much I’ve waited to be like this again, Umi said softly. “ Umi…” Yami muttered; Umi then lifted her head, though Yami couldn’t see her face, he felt a strange warmth from her as if he felt this before, but his thoughts were interrupted when he noticed Umi bringing her lips to his. Yami’s eyes felt like his eyes were about to pop out, what is she doing? But right after he said that in his head, he heard the city clock ring, saying it was now 10:30. Umi then pulled away from him and started to step away.

I’m sorry that I cant stay any longer Yami, she said softly as she kept walking backwards, “ wait Umi, I have to ask you something,” Yami replied. Umi then stopped, “ what?” Yami tried to find the word but it wasn’t easy, “ were…we…in love?” Umi gave out a small gasp as if she was hoping that he wouldn’t ask that. “ Umi?” Yami muttered, Umi jolted her head to look at him she then turned her body to get ready to walk again. And though Yami couldn’t see her face, he saw a shining tear fall down her cheek, “ we were,” Umi muttered as she then turned and disappeared into the darkness. “ Wait Umi!” Yami exclaimed, but was too late, she was gone. Umi… he thought.

“ Yami…” Umi cried as she lay on the green grass, her eyes filled with tears as she took in deep breaths. “ At least I was able to be in your arms once more…” she said as she weak smile spread across her face. She then coughed as she rolled over onto her stomach, “ you have to hurry before…before Malik…” Umi started to say until she fainted, the tears still streaming from her face.
