the prolgue's G, but the chp's are gonna be PG-13(swearing)

there's a little romance

Ok, the prolouge was waay too serious. A big "not my style" kind of thing. If you're wondering why my story is so casually written, you can skip to the epilouge once I finish editing it.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters except for Liz/Hemsut. Catherine is also owned by my friend, Catherine Halliday, and Lauren is a real person. She always insults Yugioh in real life, so don't favor her!

Caroline! Wake up! It's 3:45! Two more minutes! I shook Caroline awake. Remembering what we had discussed last night had made me terrified and excited at the same time.

Slowly, we got dressed, Caroline clutching her rock, me with Gee-gee wrapped around my neck like a scarf.

A shadow fell across the doorway. We looked up, Yami Yugi had come.

"Caro, Hemsut," his voice was exactly the same as in the show, "It's time for you to come to my world.

Caroline jumped up and walked to where Yami stood. I felt alone and abandoned, he hadn't called for me.

Looking at me, Yami asked, "Are you coming Hemsut?" Behind his back, Caroline made a sign that told me that I was Hemsut.

Grinning, I joined them. We followed Yami down the stairs and out the back door, then he led us into Caroline's back yard.

He extended a hand toward a tree in her yard, muttering some ancient Egyptian thing, and a portal opened up. It was a swirling blue carved into the tree.

Turning to see Yami, I realized that he had maintained his anime form, even in our "real" world. Well, since Yami had his own world, I have no idea what to call the world that we live in.

"Liz!" Caroline whispered, with her foot halfway through the portal, "Are you going to come or not?

"Do you think we'll become anime?" I asked, trotting through the portal.

************

"Sweet!"

"I guess that answers my question," I thought sarcastically as I stared at Caroline er, Caro.

Caro's slightly wavy, dirty-blond hair had become straight and her glasses had vanished. Her hair was now shoulder length and was, as the rest of her body, anime.

"You look exactly the same!" Caroline exclaimed, "Well, except that you're anime and your hair's a little longer."

It was true, I looked down into a clear, mirrored pond, and I saw a girl with long black hair that ended a quarter down her arm and narrow, dark brown eyes staring out from the hair that refused to stay behind her ears.

She was wearing a black t-shirt underneath a green vest and blue jeans. The white sneakers were yellow with paint and brown with mud and dirt from running around too often.

"It's just what we imagined," I whispered.

We looked at our surroundings and immediately knew where we were, from watching the show so often. Yami had left and we took off toward Domino City.

************

"Uh, do we turn right, or left?"

Lost again. I knew we shouldn't have turned left at the last traffic light! Oh well, back to the story.

Since we had just seen the first episode of the second season, we hadn't seen Domino City for a long time. Considering the fact that the setting for the first season was at Duelist Kingdom.

Suddenly, I felt Caro nudging me.

Turning around, I asked again, "Do we turn right, or left?"

"How should I know?" she answered, "but Bakura would. Caro pointed to a delicate boy with long, snowy hair wearing a beige sweater and blue jeans.

Unwrapping Gee-gee from my neck, Caro and I ran as fast as we could towards Bakura.

We skidded to a stop in front of him. "Hi Bakura," we panted.

Eyebrows raised, he asked, "You? know my name?"

"Yeah, where are Yugi, Tea, Tristan and Joey?" I answered after catching my breath.

"You know them too?"

Now, I get annoyed very easily. Especially when I've been woken up at 3:45 in the morning. I'll just skip this part since all we did was convince Bakura to bring us to Solomon Moto's, Yugi's grandpa, game shop.

Looking up from some cards, Mr. Moto smiled and greeted Bakura, then turned to us. "Can I help you?" he politely offered.

Stepping forward, Caro replied casually, "Yes, we'd like to see your grandson, Yugi."

"And Mr. Moto," I added, "I just learned how to play duel monsters and I was wondering if you could look though my deck. I want to have your opinion, and be honest." He flipped through my deck quickly then stopped. He stared at my last card, then his eyes went back and forth between that card and me.

Caro and I knew what he was thinking.

"Mr. Moto, I'm sorry that Seto ripped your blue eyes in half," Caroline spoke for both of us, "but just because Li-er, Hemsut has one, doesn't mean you should stop looking through her deck. Besides, almost everyone has one.

I clapped my hand on her mouth, but too late. Bakura and Mr. Moto were staring at us like idiots (sorry, but you were).

"Um...ummm...ummmm...sh-she's just...just...she doesn't know what she's saying! Yeah, that's it. She doesn't know what she's saying," I stuttered. "I'll tell you later," I whispered so only Caroline and Bakura could hear. I wasn't ready to tell Mr. Moto, not yet.

************

I was still trying to get used to the fact that my name was Hemsut and not Liz in Anime world.

"So that's how Caro and Hemsut came here," Yami finished. Caro and I were too tired to tell the entire story even though it wasn't very long. "They will be here for a week," he added.

Blinking, Caro said, "Only a week?"

"Only a week, "Bakura said, "There's a time limit you know. When you go back, ti-"

"Wait a minute," I interrupted. "You're not Bakura." (I know, random thought.)

"WHAT?!" everyone but Caro exclaimed.

"She's got a point," was all she said.

Puzzled, Joey mumbled, "How can he not be Bakura?"

Grinning, I explained, "Simple, because he is Bakura's Yami, not Bakura himself. Yes, I mean the ancient Egyptian tomb robber, Yami," I added when Yami's eyes became as round as lollipops.

"So, am I right?" I turned to Yami Bakura, "I know it's you since your hair's longer and your eyes are more narrow. Not mention the fact that Bakura's voice is softer and less scratchy.

"That's true," Caro agreed.

"Are you okay?" Bakura asked Caro, trying to change the subject, "You're all jumpy."

"Oh!" I got off the subject too, "That's because-"

SLAP!!!!!!!!

"Hey!" I yelled, rubbing my cheek. I seriously did think it would be bleeding at the time. Caro still slaps hard. "What was that for? I was only telling them how-"

"Shut up!" Caro screamed, turning red, but still a little jumpy.

If you've ever seen someone red, embarrassed, and mad, but still bouncing all over the place I feel your...your...your...well, anyway, I know how you feel. Where was I? Oh yeah...

"Shut up!" Caro screamed, turning red, but still bouncing all over the place, "Not in front of them!" She pointed at Yami and Joey while jumping off the table.

"I think I'll go now," Joey mumbled as he started toward the door. Yami ran out without looking back.

I was standing next to the door, so I heard Joey mutter to Yami, "I think they have problems, especially Caro."

"You're right," I heard Yami respond. "But I wonder what Caro didn't want Hemsut to tell us. I think it has something to do with you, me, or Bakura.

"What about Tristan?"

"Tristan isn't here so it can't be him."

I'm sorry, but I'm very good at eavesdropping and listening to more than one conversation. While Yami and Joey were in the hall, this is what Yami Bakura was saying.

"Crap! Why'd they leave me with these two? There's the smart one who figured out that I'm Bakura's Yami, and the crazy one that's a tomato head and jumping around."

"You sound like my brother!" Caro screamed jumping around the table for the 50th time. No, I'm not exaggerating. "Since when do you say tomato head? You've never said tomato head before."

Glaring at Caro, Yami Bakura shouted angrily, "How do you know I never said tomato head?"

Still standing next to the door, I yelled above Caro's thumping feet, "Because in our world, you're just a cartoon character!"

There was silence on both sides of the door. Well, except for Caro's thumping feet and that she kept repeating, "I wanted to tell them!" You can tell that I was annoyed.

I turned to the door and yelled, "Yami! Joey! Come in, I know you're right outside the door."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?was Joey's reaction, oh, and to run down the hall as fast as he could (he can't really run though). Yami just opened the door and came in.

"Oof!"I heard a new voice downstairs. It wasn't Tea, so could it be?

"Sorry Miho, but there's two freaks in Yugi's room," Joey explained (I know, I know, hard to imagine Joey explaining).

Just to make things more exciting, I told Caro, "Hey caroli I mean, Caro.

"What?" she said bouncing off the wall.

"Miho's here!"

"Damn it! Die Miho!" she screamed, bumping her head on the ceiling from jumping on the bed. "Run Bakura!"

"Anything to avoid you," was all Yami Bakura muttered.

"Who cares? Just get away from Miho!" Caro said, falling off the bed.

Yami Bakura smirked at Caro and said, "Why away from Miho? At least she's not insane like you. Who knows? I might ask Miho to the concert."

It was hilarious! I know I shouldn't say this about Caro, but I will anyway. Actually, I won'y. I'm too nice.

Turning to face Yami Bakura, Caro replied, "Because she wants you.

"She's better than you!" With that, he stomped grumpily out the door.

"Hi Bakura!

"Get away from me Miho!"

Once Bakura was gone, Caro became normal again.

"Hey, you're not such a freak now that you calmed down," Yami pointed out.

"You just noticed that?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yeah, Bakura's gone. There's no reason to be happy and hyper anymore," Caro murmured more to herself than to us and the girl with the orange shirt and uncomfortably short skirt who had just arrived pouting since Bakura had almost pushed her down the stairs.

Oh yeah, she had long purple hair in a ponytail.

"Damn it, Miho, go away!" Caro screamed in Miho's face.

Miho really did fall down the stairs that time. I heard screaming after Caro slammed the door after her.

"That was mean!" we heard her yell up to us.

"Go tell someone who cares!" Caro answered.

We heard a male voice call up to us, "I care!"

Annoyed, Caro threw the door open, to find herself face to face with a tall, fourteen-year-old boy with brown (okay this is a long list) hair, eyes, coat, pants, shoes, skin, and other stuff.

"Okay, who pushed Miho?" demanded Tristan.

Coolly, Caro answered, "Isn't it obvious? You're slower than I thought."

I think I'll leave out the violent part since I'm not a very violent person. Okay, okay, I am, but I'm still not going to mention the most gruesome parts.

Eventually Tristan broke Caro's arm, so she kicked him in the shins and shoved him out the door. Naturally, he lost his balance and fell down the stairs landing on Miho. Miho had already broken a few fingers from her previous fall. She cried out in pain when Tristan tumbled down and broke one of her legs as well as his own. I told you the end since it was the most docile part.

"Ugh! I was starting to enjoy the good sport," I complained.

Yami stared at me.

"Hey!" Yami Bakura shouted up to us.

In an instant, I was next to Caro. "Don't get hyper, or else he'll never like you," I quickly informed her.

"Who broke Tristan's and Miho's legs?"

"Caro did!" I told him.

"Caro, you have a good sense of humor!"

"Thanks!" Caro called in response.

"Oh my!"

"That's Ryou!" I whispered to Caro, calling Bakura by his first name.

Bakura appeared in the doorway. "Caro, did you push Miho and Tristan down the stairs?

Nod.

Sigh from Bakura. Turning bright pink, he invited us to his house saying, Yugi's a little busy now, so I was wondering..."

"Sure!" I'll let you guess who said that.

"But I can't have you come over until tomorrow," Ryou added.

From now on, I'll call Bakura Ryou (since that's his first name) and his Yami, Bakura. That way, I won't have to keep saying that they switched minds.

************

"Good morning Caro! Wake up!"

"What time is it?" I asked half asleep.

"Good morning to you too Hemsut," Ryou greeted me as he walked over to Caro to wake her up. "It’s 7:00. I thought that you and Caro might be interested to see school."

"Why would we wanna see school?" Caro asked as she sat up on Ryou’s father’s bed where we had been sleeping.

"I don’t know, because everyone else will be there, including me?" was the answer.

"Okay I’ll go!" You can figure out who said that. "Come on Hemsut, school’s waiting for us, let’s go! When does school start?"

"7:30, and we’re walking to school."

Looking at Ryou, I decided to say this just to annoy Caro, "Hey Ryou, you look cute in teddy bear pajamas."

"Hemsut, he looks cute in everything!"

Ryou basically got the message and turned bright red. He tensed up and walked out of the room.

Inside the room, we heard Bakura taunting Ryou, "OOHH! Someone likes you!"

"Shut up!" Ryou yelled, "We’re the same person."

Cupping her hands around her mouth, Caro yelled, "He’s got a point Yami, I like you too! You’re not cute, but you’re really hot!"

We heard a lot of swears outside the door (I don’t swear and I don’t remember them anyway), so Caro went to see what was going on. As I followed, I saw Bakura storming around in circles, his cheeks stained red.

"Uh, Ryou? Bakura?"

He stopped and embarrassed, tried to calm down. "We’re going to be late to school if we don’t hurry up," he quickly said, then ran down the hall, still arguing with Ryou.

"He likes you," I muttered.

"What?"

"Never mind."

************

"When are you going to get a cast?"

"Pretty soon Tea," Caro answered. "Mr. Moto, we don’t have any money, and if it’s too much to ask I understand, but is it okay for us to borrow some money for my arm?"

"Well…"

I joined in, "I have a better idea. Since we don’t have to go to school, is it okay if we help you around the shop and, you know."

Smiling, Mr. Moto answered, "Why not? I could use some help."

"But I wanted to go to school!" Caro whined.

Smirking at Yugi, Tea, Joey, and Ryou, Mr. Moto mocked, "See? If you four were as enthusiastic about school as Caro is, maybe you’d get better grades."

Eventually, we decided to take turns staying and helping with the shop, since I flatly refused to just stay in the shop, even though I spent most of my time there.

************

"How’s the hospital Tristan?" Caro asked.

"Okay," he answered, "But why’d you have to break my leg?!"

Annoyed, she answered, "Because you broke my arm! What did you expect me to do? Give up and bow down to you and say ‘I’m not worthy, please forgive me!?puh-lease."

"That’d be nice."

"Caro’s not that kind of person Tristan," I reminded him, "She is almost a black belt in karate class."

"Hey, haven’t you ever heard that two wrongs don’t make a right?" Joey defended Tristan.

Frowning, I obviously sided with Caro, "Two wrongs don’t make a right? Look in the mirror. You and Tristan are always killing each other, and you call yourselves best buddies. You sure have strange ways of showing that."

"We don’t kill each other," Tristan argued, "I was just trying to help Miho."

"Did someone mention my name?" Miho rolled in with her wheelchair, pushed by Ryou.

"Oh no!" I thought, "Caro’s gonna lose it. She hates Miho." Well, duh.

"Um, Caro."

"What?" Caro asked menacingly through clenched teeth and staring daggers through Miho.

"Just don’t talk!" I whispered, "I’ll make Ryou stop, I just need to talk to him. Ryou?" I turned my attention to Ryou, "Can I talk to you? I need to ask you something?"

"Sure, why not?" Ryou answered.

Outside in the hall, I quickly asked, "Do you like Caro?"

"What do you mean?" I invited both of you to my house. I don’t like either of you better than the other."

"That’s not the point Ryou, I’m just asking about Caro, not me. I just want to know if you like her."

He was confused, I could tell by the look on his face, but I could also see some faint traces of suspicion cross over his face as he replied, "I like her as a friend, nothing more."

"Are you sure?"

"Why not?" he asked innocently, "Can you stop asking questions? An eleven-year-old girl is lecturing me. Not to mention the fact that you’re three years younger than me. Do you know how embarrassing this is?"

"Actually, I’ll be twelve in November, but that’s not the point." I responded casually, "And yes, I get lectured by my seven-year-old sister all the time, but that’s not the point either."

"Then get to the point."

"I would if you‘d just stop interrupting me!" I snapped, "Now where was I? Oh yeah, do you like Caro?"

"Like I told you before, only as a friend," Ryou snapped back at me.

I have to admit, I even scared myself when I stared into those dark brown eyes, searching, probing for any signs of a lie. I was so glad that I had learned how to tell a lie apart from the truth, just by looking into somebody’s eyes. I figured some of it out by myself too though. He wasn’t lying, I felt a great surge of?no, not relief, pain. He was telling the truth; at least, he thought he was.

I leaned back, satisfied, "Okay, I believe you."

"For once," I heard.

"You know, I’m not deaf," I told Bakura (Ryou’s too polite to say stuff like that).

************

Caro tried to move her arm, "This cast’s heavier than I thought it’d be."

"Well, now that school’s over and you have your cast, why don’t we go home?" Ryou suggested.

"Yeah! Then we can all have a nice game of Duel Monsters," I supported the idea,"I know I can never win against Caro, but I like dueling her anyway."

"Okay, but I'll need someone to help me hold my cards," Caro agreed,"We might as well have some fun until we go back," she added sadly.

"What? Is it already Friday?" I realized with a twist of shock.

Life had been so easy in Anime world, and now we had to leave this home that we had grown to love. Neither of us had the heart to play seriously, so we ended up stopping in the middle of our duel.

Picking my cards up and Gee-gee, I reluctantly walked out of the city with Caro, Bakura, Yugi (not Yami), Joey, Tea, and Tristan on his crutches toward the little pool in the clearing.

"Well, see you both in a week," Yugi reminded us, "Yami will come get you again, until he can teach you the password."

"Yugi, will it be okay if we take another friend with us?" I asked him. We had another friend named Catherine who was head over heels in love with Yami.

"Sure, why not? But only two."

"Bye Bakura, say bye to Ryou for me," Caro whispered.

"Goodbye everybody!" I said as I clasped hands with Caro.

Squeezing it gently, I waved goodbye one last time, and jumped into the pond with Caro.

************

"We’re…" I gulped, "We’re home."

Caro, I mean, Caroline was silent. She pulled out a pair of gold earring studs with rubies set in the center. "A gift from Ryou," Caroline managed a weak smile.

From now on, Caro and Hemsut are when we’re anime and Caroline and Liz are our, er, other names.

Grinning, I pulled a star sapphire necklace out from Gee-gee. It had a single sapphire set in the middle of the gold chain. We still have these precious jewels this is mine:

These are Caroline's earrings:

The opals shaped like as hearts in her earrings are set in gold underneath a diamond.

************

"Girls, get up!" Ms. Koenig yelled up at us.

"Uh?" Caroline fell out of bed, "Mom? Go away, I’m sleeping!"

Frowning down at us, Ms. Koenig answered, "If you girls weren’t up the entire night, you probably wouldn’t be so tired."

"We were up the whole night?" I yawned.

"Yes, I heard you talking until 12:00."

"Mom, I always go to bed at 12:00! That isn’t anything new! I wouldn’t be this tired if I went to bed at 12:00, what time is it?" Caro talked into her pillow as she climbed back into bed.

"7:30," Ms. Koenig responded, then, to get us out of bed, "You’ll miss the new episode of Yu-Gi-Oh if you don’t get up now!"

"Okay, I’m up! Let’s go!"

I fell asleep again, so don’t ask me what happened the next hour. What made me mad was that Caroline didn’t wake me up. I think I chucked a few pillows, and other stuff at her, of course, I’m not sure, I was still asleep. Then again, I had only slept for three hours.

Huh? Oh, when we came back, it was 4:00 a.m., but you’ll figure that out later.

What really woke me up was when Ms. Koenig said, "Caro, where’d you get those opal earrings?"

Next thing I knew, Caroline was screaming in my ear, so I was deaf for the next five minutes. Caroline explained, "I have my earrings! You have your necklace! It wasn’t a dream! WHOOHOO!"

Rubbing my ears and eyes, I asked stupidly, "What dream?"

"Liz!" SMACK! "Bring back any memories"

I rubbed my raw cheek, I seriously thought it was bleeding at the time, then, I thought, ‘Hey, this seems familiar.'

"Oh yeah! You slapped me before, when I was gonna tell Bakura how you feel about him."

"Exactly," Caroline said sarcastically.

Just then, my mom came with my little sister, Amy, to pick me up and dragged me home.

************

Time went by so slowly, minutes seemed like years, and a day was a millennia. Caroline and I decided to bring Lauren and Catherine with us to Anime world next Saturday, but we didn’t tell them why. When Friday finally arrived, and everyone was at Caroline's house, we quickly got everyone in Caroline's room and explained everything. Catherine and Lauren didn't really believe us.

"I'll believe you when you give me proof," Catherine told us stubbornly.

Obvious, we took out the presents that Ryou had given us as Catherine stared in awe.

Lauren hated (and still does) anything related to Yu-Gi-Oh, and got really pissed off when Caroline set the alarm at 3:45 and warned us to get up and get dressed, unless they wanted Yami to see them in their pajamas.

XXXXXXXXXXXX

Sorry for all those Ryou and Yami Bakura lovers, but Caroline wanted me to hook her up with them. Sorry to Miho and Tristan fans too, she really hates Miho and since Tristan stood up for her in my story, well, you get the point. Caroline helped me write some parts of the story, so don't give me all the credit. I'm guessing that I kinda annoyed some people by useing some Japenese names and English names, but I thought that some of them might be better than others.

Caroline thought that Tea was a better name than Anzu and Jounouchi was too long. Ryou and Bakura were used so you could tell the yami apart from the normal Bakura. I don't know how to pronounce Honda. If you want me to hook you up with a yugioh charactor in my story, e-mail me, I'll put you in my second one, but Bakura, Yami Bakura, and Yami Yugi are already taken, sorry. my e-mail address is umblezamb@yahoo.com </ym/Compose?To=umblezamb@yahoo.com>
