Episode 10: Counter-Attack of the Blue Eyes White Dragon

Yugi has his Dark Magician concealed by the Magical Hats. Ghost Kaiba attacks one of the Magical Hats with his Blue Eyes White Dragon, but misses the Dark Magician, only destroying an empty hat. Now Yugi hides a trap card under one of the Magical Hats, and when Ghost Kaiba attacks again, Spell-Binding Circle is activated, lowering the Blue Eyes White Dragon's attack strength to 2300. Now it's weak enough for Yugi's Dark Magician to destroy. One Blue Eyes down, but Ghost Kaiba promptly draws another Blue Eyes White Dragon from his deck, and destroys the Dark Magician. Ghost Kaiba taunts Yugi by recalling Yugi's previous duel with Kaiba, and reminding him that he owns the only three Blue Eyes White Dragon cards in existence, having torn up Yugi's Grandpa's Blue Eyes. But Mokuba still insists this isn't really his brother—everyone knows about that duel by now. (In the Japanese, the Ghost Kaiba doesn't refer to the previous duel, but just says Yugi's afraid to face him, now that he's dead.)

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, the real Kaiba is still in his underground computer room, having hacked into Pegasus's network to watch Yugi's duel—with himself! Kaiba thinks Yugi can't win against the Blue Eyes without Exodia, so he intends to help Yugi out. (Japanese Kaiba's a bit more impressed by Yugi's playing, noting that Yugi managed to destroy the first Blue Eyes without Exodia. But he sees that Yugi's in a jam now.) He plans to upload a virus into the Blue Eyes's holocomputer to weaken it so Yugi can defeat it.

Yugi plays Feral Imp (Gremlin, called "Helenmulan" by the subtitles) in Attack mode, unable to play monsters in defense because of Ghost Kaiba's Stop Defense trap card. The real Kaiba hurries to get the virus uploaded, but it's not quick enough! Ghost Kaiba attacks, just as the virus begins to drain the Blue Eyes White Dragon's attack points.

Pegasus is also watching the duel from his castle. He knows that the real Seto Kaiba has hacked into the system and is helping Yugi, and counter-hacks into Kaiba's computer to stop the virus, greeting Kaiba onscreen with his trademark cartoon rabbit. The Blue Eyes White Dragon's attack strength holds at 2000, and it attacks Feral Imp. A frustrated Kaiba calls out to Yugi—who hears him! And the attack stops. The Blue Eyes has heard its real master's call, and destroyed itself. Kaiba is astonished! Is this the "heart of the cards" Yugi's always talking about?

Meanwhile, Pegasus's goons have been alerted and are about to break into Kaiba's computer room.

The Ghost Kaiba goes mental. Yugi confronts the imposter, and the Ghost Kaiba reveals its true form, as a monstrous clown, and tells them he's the evil part of Kaiba that was banished to the Shadow Realm by Yugi, brought back by Pegasus.

Pegasus's goons storm Kaiba's room, but they're too late—Kaiba's already gone. Once again, the goons' guns are deleted in the US version.

Croquet reports the bad news to Pegasus, who makes vaguely SM-y threats to Croquet for losing Kaiba a second time. (The Japanese Pegasus, however, is pretty blasé about the whole thing, just saying, "No problem" and let's enjoy the rest of the duel.) Pegasus contacts Kimo and tells him not to let Mokuba go. (This doesn't happen in the Japanese version.)

The Ghost Clown plays Grappler in defense mode, and Yugi sets a card face down and plays Celtic Guardian (Elf Swordsman) in attack mode, and destroys Grappler. He knows the Ghost is just playing for time until it can draw the final Blue Eyes White Dragon, but with Stop Defense on the field, Yugi has no choice but to attack. The Ghost then plays Mystic Horseman in defense mode (he doesn't play a monster here in the Japanese), and also sets a face-down card. Yugi counters with another face-down card, and plays Mystical Elf (Holy Elf) in attack mode, equipping her with the Book of Secret Arts to raise her attack and defense by 300 points.

In the Japanese episode, the Ghost suddenly appears as Pegasus, telling Yugi he's going to get it now. That little transformation is cut out of the US version for some reason.

Then the Ghost draws the third Blue Eyes White Dragon. Mokuba says not to worry—his brother will help out again. But Kimo knows Kaiba's no longer at his computer. He tells the gang to look at the Blue Eyes—its Attack strength is the full 3000 points.

The Blue Eyes attacks, but Yugi activates Mirror Force, a trap card which reflects the Blue Eyes White Dragon's attack back on itself. The Ghost counters with Negate Attack and stops the reflected attack. Then Yugi plays Reborn the Monster (now just called Monster Reborn; Resurrection in the Japanese), allowing him to revive any monster from either player's Graveyard. He summons the Blue Eyes White Dragon. The Ghost says that won't do Yugi any good—the two Blue Eyes are evenly matched. But Yugi's still got Mystical Elf, who is chanting a spell allowing her to transfer her attack power to the Blue Eyes White Dragon (the real Mystical Elf doesn't have this ability), raising its Attack to 4100. "Consider this a message from the real Seto Kaiba: You lose!" And Yugi's Blue Eyes attacks, destroying the Ghost's Blue Eyes and winning the game. Then Yugi uses his Mind Crush on the Ghost, sending it back to the Shadow Realm again.

Yugi issues a warning to Pegasus, who he knows is watching. Nothing will stop me, he says. I'm coming for you, Pegasus! Pegasus's wine glass shatters in his hand. (We in the US are not allowed to see the wine dripping from Pegasus's hand. Perhaps it looks too much like blood?)

Pegasus isn't troubled. He'll beat Yugi in their duel, he says, and Yugi's Millennium Puzzle will be his!

Yugi retrieves Kaiba's deck from the Ghost's side of the arena, while the gang celebrates his victory. But where's Mokuba? Kimo's scarpered with him.
