I'm preparing to swap a LB9 305 TPI with a 700r4 tranny into My '83 Monte Carlo SC Cl, which currently has a 3.8 V6 and 200c tranny. I've been asking around on some chat rooms and figured I'd ask your thoughts. Also Some of the information I had was incorrect. O.k. the engine and tranny are out of a '87 Formula Firebird. I'm also using the ECM, wire harness, Starter, and belt driven accessories. I'm going to use a B&M Mega shifter so I won't have to worry about linkage. A Edelbrock Tubular exhaust, Catco cat., and Dynomax Cat back system. Autometer Tach. and I'm also putting a SS nose on it, So I'm going to use the radiator from that. Problems I plan to have. I'll have to make a custom air intake for the filter and MAF. I'll probably move the battery to the trunk so it'll be out of the way. I'll need a Electric fuel pump, and high pressure line. and probably bloody knuckles. Questions I have for you guys. 1) Can I use a 2004r tranny cross member from another G-body, or did they ever put a 700r4 tranny in a g-body? 2) Will I have to have a custom drive shaft made, or again did they put a 700 in a G-Body? 3) What would be the right springs to put in to get the support for the v8, or will the v6 spring hold up till next summer when I redo the whole front end? 4) has anyone ever done this swap, and if so anything I should watch out for? Thanks For your time, Pete
