Here we go again with the basic outline for the head. Remember that the vertical line goes down the center of the face, and the two other lines are eye and mouth lines, respectively.
Face line next. Start a little ways up from the eye line. Indent at the eye line. Follow the guideline all the way down and around.
Ear next. It's your basic ear...a big backwards "C" with squiggles in the middle. Don't forget Pluto's earring! It's kind of a chevron, or a "V", or whatever you call it. Whatever it is, she's just not herself without it.
Eyes! As usual, start far away and draw the main curve of the eye right above the eye line. Make it thick, but it's just a big curve. Nothing fancy. For Pluto, who is older and one of the outer senshi, the eye isn't as huge and sparkly. Remembering that this is the far eye, make the round part pretty close to a circle, but squished a little to fit the perspective. You might even make it more hidden behind (you guessed it) the bottom line of the eye. Play around with the expressions you can get by changing the amount of eye visible.
For the other eye, it goes at the eye line in the middle of the head oval, half way between the vertical centerline and the ear. Again, draw the main line just above the eye reference line, only slightly higher and wider than before. It's closer to being seen straight-on, so it will be wider. The circle part goes in about the same place, still not touching the top line. It's wider, too. The bottom line is the same as before. For both eyes, there's usually one big round hilite to one side at the top of the circle. Make at least one other smaller hilite, too. This is shoujo, so the sparklier, the better. You can put a pupil in, but not much of one. I usually leave it out for SM characters.
The crease in SM manga is just one long line above the upper lash line. Eyebrows are pretty thin, too.
The nose is really easy in the 3/4 view. It's part of the narrow eye. You've already done most of the work! From the top eye line, continue the curve out and down. Then come sharply back in and down. SM noses are pretty pointy. There you go.
Remember that in a 3/4 view, the mouth is small and right on the point where the vertial centerline and mouth line cross. Now, SM is one of the few styles that uses lips (and very well, too). It's more in the manga than in the anime, but it's mostly older women and the outer senshi in both cases. For Sailopluto's mouth, begin under the nose. Draw a line that comes up and then back down, kind of like a tiny, thin eyecurve. You can either skip a little space or keep going with the other side, a curve much like the other one but a little wider (same perspective idea as in the eyes, ne?). Now do the bottom lip. It's much smaller and more curved that the top line(s). It could be a little lower than that, too, but I'm not one to make huge lips. Now comes the difference: you can put a middle line in there, too, to mark the bottom of the upper lip (or make it look like the lips are slightly parted, depending on how you look at it). It's very subtle, and in manga paintings it's usually just painted and not inked. It's just a little rounded angle there at the center of the mouth, connected to the top line. Voila, your pouty feminine lips.
Before you start drawing the hair, stick a tiara in there somewhere. The jewel is kind of oval, on the vertical centerline. The bands of the tiara are pretty simple, too, just throw them on there. The ends will disappear behind the bangs.
Speaking of bangs, let's add some. For this drawing, which is in the manga style, I just use lines. I don't worry about closing them off or anything. You can if you want, it all depends on your preference. They begin from the center, the ones on the left side curving in toward the face. On the right side, they curve up and away from the face. The bangs hang down to the eyes.
Now, those bangs that curve up on the right? They're going to meet up with Pluto's meatball there. Add some more lines following their direction. Now, on the left, start at about the vertical centerline and bring a line out and down. Curl it out a couple times where it meets the bangs on that side. Add the bun at the top (it isn't quite as round as Sailormoon's, it's more squished).
Leave her like that and she looks like Relena when she's Queen of the World, ne? Um...no. Let's not insult Pu here by making her look like Relena. To finish this baby up, let's at a fuku before we finish the hair. It's easiest to do this from the middle out. Draw a curved "V" from where the neck ends and down to the center where the bow will be. Now bring it back up and out a little to make the collar. For the bow, start with the jewel. It's a circle with two round hilites. The ribbon part is just two rounded triangles there, the center points hidden behind the jewel. Don't forget the bottom ends of the ribbon under the bow part, and the stripes on the collar. Oh, and the ribbon choker, too. Now add some long lines to finish that lovely hair.
Erase those pencil lines, and you've got Sailorpluto!
