In FF7 you are able to start breading chocobo's after you get the airship on disc two.

First thing you need to so is buy 6 Stables from the Chocobo Farm, talk to the old man inside the house. Each stable costs 10,000 gil. and you should have already bought the Chocobo Lure Materia and have been leveling it up.

Now you need to catch 3 Chocobos a Wonderful, a Great, and a Good Chocobo by using the Chocobo Lure materia.

The Great can be caught in the tracks near Mideel. It must be guarded by 1 or 2 Spirals (armadillo-like enemies).

The Good can be found in the tracks just south-east of the Gold Saucer. It must be guarded by 2 Spencers, or a Harpy. make sure when you transfer these Chocobo's into the stables the Great and Good are the opposite sex's. Also make sure you name them so you can remember determine between the two. its best if Great is a female

The Wonderful can be found in the tracks in the Northern Continent, just south-west of Icicle Inn. It must be guarded by 1 or 2 Jumpings (rabbit-like enemies). it does not matter what sex this one is yet but it will become important later

Now you will want to buy some Sylkis Greens from the Chocobo Sage, he can be found in the northern continent, the only way to get there right now is by airship.(look below under hints to find a cheep way to buy greens or sell a mastered all materia)

Feed your Chocobo's atleast 20 Sylkis Greens each.

Save your game

Race both The Great and Good to arleast A class (S if you can do it but i tried and there was no way). Race your Wonderful to S class, this should be easy with maxed stats

You will need to get 3 Carob Nuts the Vlakorados enemies just south of Bone Village (dark grassy areas), they can be stolen or won. Fight Goblins on Goblin Island (east of the Northern Continent), and steal a Zeio Nut.

Save your game.

Mate your Good and Great Chocobos using 1 Carob Nut. Hopefully, you should gett either a Green or a Blue. The resulting Chocobo MUST be the opposite of the Great parent. If you don't get what you want, reset. and try again

Feed your Green/Blue Chocobo at least 20 Sylkis Greens.

Race it at the Gold Saucer to Class S.

Fight 10 battles. If either the Green/Blue is still too young, or the Great parent just mated, just fight a few more battles until they can be mated.

Save your game.

Mate your Green/Blue Chocobo with the Great parent using another Carob Nut. Hopefully, you will get the opposite color (green for blue, and blue for green), of the opposite sex as your previous Green/Blue Chocobo. Again, reset if you don't get what you want.

Feed the newborn atleast 20 Sylkis Greens.

Race it at the Gold Saucer to Class S.

Fight 10 or so battles near the Chocobo Farm until the Green and Blue are ready to mate.

Save your game.

Mate your Blue and Green Chocobos using your final Carob nut, and you should hopefully get a Black Chocobo. make sure it is the opposite sex as your Wonderful

Once again feed the Black atleast 20 Sylkis Greens.

Save your game.

Race the Black to Class S at the Gold Saucer.

Fight 10 or so battles until the Black and Wonderful are ready to be mated.

Save your game.

Mate both the Black and Wonderful using the Zeio Nut, and hopefully, you will get the Gold Chocobo. Again if not, reset and try again. The remaining Sylkis Greens are for the Gold.
