Poetry Two

Dad,I thought you weren’t always there, yet, in reality you were, just hidden. You had your own way of showing you cared, the way you were raised, love was forbidden. You knew how to draw me close, holding my hand when most would’ve shaken their head and walked. Your eyes mirrored memories, spanning across the vast land I cherish my memories of the many hours we talked. We knew the time was close, as you tenderly called me "Ruff" not wanting to let go, I stayed with you day and night. In your hours of pain, you let me know it was getting tough yet you held on and talked to mom, she showed you the light. She was the string you were still holding onto, the many years you stayed with her weren’t always good yet, the deep love you felt for her, she always knew Those last days were a treasure, to relive them again, yes I would. Your soul lives on within me, dear and gentle man even through the darkened moments, I know you are still here. With your words of kindenss, you changed, saying yes I can I know one day we will meet again, so I walk without fear. I love you dad..always!
