I'll be damned

So I've learned to clean my room
and keep my records straight
to never curse under the full moon
and to call if I'll be late

But the minute hand is chasing
me around a figurative clock
and the second hand is racing
to finish tick before tock

This survival has handed out
the need to bring passion
and the necessity to spout
complaints about the rations

They got more than so and so
and so it continues through
that no matter where it is you go
I always need more than you

I still have my manners
intact they bring us down
but nothing really matters
when night crosses this old town

That is when all will end
blinded by stealthy fury
the god of earth with send
his judgement with his jury

My ways are ultimately doubted
as to myself I was never true
I've only done what was spouted
by others of what I should do

My actions weren't my own and because
I denied myself routine elation
I tripped the devine clause
and caused my own damnation

The customs and the courtesy
that I did not believe but followed
interfered with my whole destiny
and my pure soul it swallowed

What is right for you is unique
for me it does not apply
for you will get what you seek
and it will damn me when I die
